Brian Linden布莱恩·林登：喜林苑Linden Centre & 駐地中國四十年，很艱難也幸福

         喜林苑創辦於2008年，在來自美國的林登夫婦及創始團隊的努力下，雲南大理喜洲文化遺產建築楊品相宅被成功修繕，以文化交流中心和精品酒店的身份重新面向世人，致力於當地傳統文化的保護與傳播，經過20年的努力，如今的喜林苑發展成為一個集精品酒店、體驗式旅行、沉浸式教育計畫、社區營造為一體的當地文化集合體「A Culture Complex」。2025年1月初，美國人布萊恩林登（Brian Linden）經營的第6家喜林苑酒店在雲南省迪慶藏族自治州德欽縣奔子欄鎮試營業，開啟他探索和推廣中國文化的新旅程。

       2022年年初，我有幸跟隨人類學電子雜誌《他者others》的主編一凡一同前往喜林苑在雲南沙溪石龍村做駐地拍攝，全程得到了布萊恩林登（Brian Linden）及石龍村村民的熱情導引及接納，至今溫暖我心，作為本期的嘉賓，我很難用簡單的語言概述我對他和他所做工作的描述，我只能在此引述當年對一凡駐地感受的採訪：“石龍村是我心中的一塊柔軟地。” https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/FQE-qBwkAD1QNX4m9S_VmA , 你可以通過這個連結了解更多關於這個村莊的故事.

           Linden Centre was founded in 2008, It is an award-winning boutique hotel offering the intrepid traveler an inspiring exploration of Southwest China. The property, renovated by the Lindens, is one of their attempts to preserve local Bai heritage and introduce curious travelers to a different side of China. The Linden Centre has been consistently ranked as a top Dali hotel and has gained international recognition for its commitment to cultural sustainability and heritage preservation.  After 20 years of effort, Linden Centre has evolved into a "Culture Complex"—a local cultural hub integrating boutique hotels, experiential travel, immersive education programs, and community building.

          In early January 2025, Brian Linden opened his sixth  Linden Centre hotel in Benzilan Town, Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, beginning a new journey in exploring Chinese culture.

At the beginning of 2022, I had the privilege of accompanying Yifan, the editor-in-chief of the anthropology e-magazine Others, to Linden Centre’s residency program in Shilong Village, Shaxi, Yunnan. Throughout the experience, I was warmly guided and welcomed by Brian Linden and the villagers of Shilong, a memory that still warms my heart. As this episode’s guest, I find it difficult to summarize my thoughts on Brian and his work in just a few words. Instead, I would like to quote my reflections during Yifan's residency interview:

"Shilong Village is a soft place in my heart."
