05: When You Feel Overwhelmed (Reclaim Your Power)
Today, I want to talk about how to step away from the feeling of being overwhelmed and instead step into a place of ease and magnetism.
Being overwhelmed can feel like always having to say yes, too many tasks on the calendar, or finding no energy to take any next steps in your personal life or business. There is a trick though and that is that YOU are in control of if you want to feel overwhelmed and that you can create it or uncreate it at any moment, and that is what we are diving into today.

[00:00:00] Hello. Hello. So what is overwhelm and what do we do with it? So I'm pretty sure we all know what it is. We know that it's that feeling when you are paralyzed with options. It's that feeling when you are overcome with so many things to do, so many things in your to [00:01:00] do list. So many tasks on your plate that you feel like doing nothing that you actually hit a point of standstill because it feels too big to move forward or the thoughts in your mind are too hectic and it's hard to even wrap your head around what the next steps are or have even the energy to move on to the next steps.
If you're experiencing any of these, you are definitely in a state of overwhelm. This happens when we pile too much onto our plate, when we have too many things on our calendar, when we have too many tasks to get done, too many people needing our attention, when we've extended ourselves in too many different directions, or when we are hitting our edge, when we are emotionally hitting our edge and we haven't set up a container to hold ourselves or we haven't properly prepped our nervous system to hold this new level of energy or success or money or commitments or things like this.
So the key thing to remember [00:02:00] though, because this is a really tricky part about overwhelm is that when you are in a state of overwhelm, it is very easy to feel like we are a victim to our circumstance, that we are a victim to our calendar, to our agenda, to our to do list, to our task list. But the truth is, is that we created it and we can uncreate it at any moment.
So the real secret here is to learn how to step back into your power, step back into that energy of I create my reality. I decide what my day looks like, how I spend my time, how I spend my energy. Today is like any other day where I get to wake up in the morning and decide how to allocate these resources.
It is not true that I. I'm at the mercy of my calendar at the mercy of my clients or at the mercy of fill in the blank. And when we switch this mindset, we can switch out of this energy quite easily. because it's just. [00:03:00] It's just a choice. We have to remember our power and this podcast is meant to be an activation in that sense to remind you that you do create your reality and that you do have the power to choose how you're going to spend your days and how you're going to spend your energy and your time and to cultivate an energy that is powerful and sought after and the the vibe the frequency that you want to be in and you are that powerful and you do have a choice.
And I found this to be so, so helpful because when I first arrived in Bali, I was definitely feeling overwhelmed. And when you're wrapped up in the emotion, when you're wrapped up in that kind of thought loop, it's sometimes hard to see. what it is that you're doing and that you're creating this yourself.
And so it was actually one of my good friends. She posted about this feeling of overwhelm and about it being a choice and that you get to step out of that energy. You get to step out of that loop and create your [00:04:00] day from a place of ease and magnetism and flow and that you don't have to create your day from this place of like panic and anxiety and irritation, even at these people or things that are taking up your time and that you get to choose in every moment how you want to allocate your time.
And if there's too many things on your schedule, you get to change your schedule. And if there's too many tasks in your to do list, you get to prioritize, you get to take things off. You get to disconnect from the idea that everything is urgent and everything needs to be done right now and reconnect with who you are.
What would really move the needle in my business today? What do I have the time, energy, and space for to do just today? Or what on my to do list would really light me up. That is such a good lantern to follow, something that can guide you into regaining energy is to follow what lights you up because there's a reason why you're getting excited about it.
And as you spend the [00:05:00] energy to do the thing, you'll get more energy to keep doing the thing. And this is very helpful for when, if you're feeling lethargic, if you're feeling like, almost, Depressed or low levels of energy or yeah You're in that headspace where it's like I have so much to do that.
I want to do nothing I want to fall back into some of my favorite coping mechanisms which are to binge watch Netflix or curl up on the couch and read a fantasy novel and just Completely check out up from my current reality or go shopping or just move into pure avoidance and procrastination which is Whatever your favorite go to, check out kind of nurturing things are, whether they're healthy or unhealthy.
Those can also be red flags of when you find yourself doing those activities to check in with yourself and be like, Am I in a state of overwhelm? And can I choose differently? Can I recognize this? Can I have the awareness? to watch myself move [00:06:00] through this state of overwhelm and to give myself what I need, because usually when we're operating in this state of overwhelm, we are not meeting our own needs to some capacity as well.
So this is all food for thought for you. If you're feeling overwhelmed, if you're feeling like there's too many things on your calendar, too many people asking for your time to remember that you are the creator of your reality. You are that powerful. You get to decide how you spend your time and to step out of that feeling like you have to get everything done or be everything for everyone and step back into your queen energy into magnetic boss babe energy of knowing that yes, my time is sought after.
My energy is sought after and I have the power. I get to decide. how I allocate it and how I spend it. And there is no such thing as not enough time. And there is no such thing as everything needs to be done today. Everything has a priority ranking and I need to like [00:07:00] emotionally detach from the to-do list to be able to look at it objectively and think, what do I actually need to, or want to get done today?
And what makes sense for tomorrow or the day after? And a lot of times too, I find that I'm actually more productive. When I allow time for rest So if I find myself hitting up against the wall where I'm trying to sit down and concentrate and I can't concentrate I can't get any like deep work done That's usually a sign that I need to go nourish some other aspect of my soul that I need to go nourish myself with With creativity, go to like a ceramics class, or I need to go spend time with some friends, or I need to spend time alone in nature, or I need to sleep, or I need to take a long bubble bath, or something to decompress my body, maybe do some stretching, some yoga.
Things like this and it's when I nurture these other sides of me that I no longer hit those walls And I no longer get stuck in that loop [00:08:00] of I have too much to do and I don't have enough time to do it Because of course when you're thinking that that's what you're going to create So I pass this all to you with loving kindness to sit back and evaluate your relationship with overwhelm, your relationship with your calendar, your relationship with your time and with your energy, and to see where you may be falling into these traps of overwhelm and busyness.
