Here We Have Idaho
Darl Bruner was sworn into office as Nampa’s 32nd Mayor on June 15, 2026. Mayor Bruner was appointed by Nampa City Council following the sudden passing of Mayor Rick Hogaboam, who suffered a medical incident just over 70 days after taking office.
Darl Bruner was born in Nampa, grew up in Boise and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northwest Nazarene University. After graduation, he was a Juvenile Probation Officer for Canyon County. After graduate work at the University of Utah, Darl entered the business world, operating businesses in Seattle, South Dakota, North Dakota, Winnipeg (Canada), Edmonton (Canada), Alaska and a second business in the Seattle area.
In 1994, he chose to make a career change so he could be at home with his young children. He worked at Northwest Nazarene University for 30 years before retiring as the Director of Alumni Relations in 2025.
Mayor Bruner served on Nampa City Council for eight years, ending in January 2024. He has been an active member of the community through various non-profit and volunteer organizations:
- Lion’s Club member for over 30 years
- Coached Upward Basketball
- Umpire for church softball
- Nampa Development Corporation member
- NNU volunteer
He and his wife, Paula, live in Nampa and have two adult children and five grandchildren.
