Waiting on God's Timing: When Your Vision Seems Stalled
Ever clutched a God-given dream so tightly your knuckles turned white, only to find yourself years later still waiting for it to materialize? That frustrating gap between divine revelation and manifestation is exactly what we're tackling in this soul-stirring episode.
The waiting season tests not just our faith but our understanding of how God operates. When He plants visions in our hearts that seem perpetually stalled, we face tough questions: Did I hear Him correctly? Am I missing something? Has God forgotten? These aren't signs of weak faith—they're honest reflections of the tension between divine timing and human impatience.
What if the delay isn't a denial but preparation? I share my own five-year journey of waiting and the profound realization that transformed my perspective: God cares as much about who we become in the process as He does about the destination. Those smaller assignments we sometimes overlook or minimize might be the very stepping stones toward the bigger vision. As Jesus taught, when we're "faithful over a few things," God makes us "ruler over many things."
The vision God gave you hasn't died, and He hasn't forgotten. He's orchestrating circumstances, preparing hearts (including yours), and ensuring that when your dream materializes, it happens at the perfect time and in the perfect way. The waiting season isn't wasted time—it's preparation time, the soil in which your character grows, your faith deepens, and your capacity expands.
Ready to rekindle hope for that dream gathering dust on your spiritual shelf? Listen now, and let's discover together how to partner with God in the process while trusting His perfect timing. Share this episode with someone struggling to hold onto their vision, because sometimes the most powerful gift we can offer is permission to keep believing.
I hope this episode reminds you not to give up, but instead to seek God for the next steps.

About Me: LEARN MORE HERE
Hi, everyone, welcome. Thank you for joining us today on our Positioned for Purpose Conversations with Colette Marie podcast. I'm your host, colette Marie. Yes, our podcast is for women of faith who struggle to see God in the places of pain and hardship and who need a reminder, a gentle reminder, that, right where you are, god will use you in the mess, in the hardships, in your most challenging times, in your heartaches and in your pain. God has a greater plan for your story. Romans 8, 28 states, for we know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to his purpose.
Speaker 1:Hi, what dreams have God placed in your heart and it seems as if they're not coming through on time. He's given you this vision, you've written it down and you have been so excited about the manifestation, or just the revelation, of that which God has placed in your heart. How does it make you feel when these dreams and these plans that you believe that he's given you and they may be months and they may be years in coming do you feel like giving up? Do you wonder? Did God really say how are you now? Are you in a place of trust in God or have you given up. I hope that today's episode will be a blessing to you as we look at what it means when God gives us a dream and it seems as if it's not coming through on time.
Speaker 1:Recently, I was watching something and they were talking about how do you feel when it seems as if these plans, these ideas, these thoughts that God has given us and we're so excited about it, and we are looking on and we are not seeing anything coming on. And it spoke so much to my heart because for years I know that God gave me a vision to do something and it seems as if nothing is happening. There were days when I was excited about it and it feels as if something is happening, but yet there were other days as well when I felt as if God did you really say this thing or am I only just imagining it? Did you say that this is what you wanted me to do? Did you say that? And we can all maybe? Well, let me not say all. I'm sure you may be able to identify with that, because there are some plans that God gives us and it seems as if it's just one, two, three.
Speaker 1:Sometimes things just seem to be aligned and we're able to just push through and go through. It's not that all things just fall into place, not that all things just fall into place, but at least you see the start, you see a middle and you can envision what the ending is like. You are able to move past the obstacles that presented themselves. Your faith may have wavered, but you recovered and you remained strong.
Speaker 1:But, on the other hand, there are some plans that he gave us, that we wrote them down and we've been saying, lord, when, lord when, lord, when? Or maybe that's just me asking the lord, when? When are you going to show up? When are you going to cause this that you've given me to do? When are you going to bring it to pass? What am I doing, or what am I not doing that is hindering this move by you? Because, let's face it, sometimes we just have to take stock of where we are and see are we the hindrances? Are we the hindrances in what God is doing? Then we have to test it, and I find that we only test it to ask if this is what God is doing, only because it seems as if it's not coming through, no-transcript, and we can get up to a place where we are feeling disheartened. We're feeling as if God doesn't care, and I might have shared this story or not, but I want to share it with you, as I remember just praying for one of my daughters to come back to Christ, and that was over 15 years and it took took so long.
Speaker 1:I felt like giving up, but can I tell you God has a perfect timing for everything, because he knows the end from the beginning. Sometimes we want things to happen and we want to force things to happen before God says that it is time Now. That is one thing, and you may be saying how does this relate to a vision that God has given me? It's the length of time, because everything takes time, right, and we're excited about certain things, but yet still, god is doing something, because some lessons that I have learned is that in the process, god is is doing something, because some lessons that I have learned is that in the process, god is teaching me something. But if I'm so anxious about the vision, about seeing it coming to pass, then I can't hear him. I'm missing him in the moment. I'm missing what he is doing, and there are some lessons that we need to learn.
Speaker 1:Can I tell you something Recently? I've just been just before the Lord asking him Lord, what do you want me to do? Am I hearing you? Am I doing the thing that you want me to do? I said, lord, just speak to me. What am I doing?
Speaker 1:And can I tell you? What the Lord said to me is something that he said to me before, something that he has said to me before. He has given me the details for it, but he gave me the details before, maybe not the exact thing, but they boiled down to be the same thing. And I sat and I said, oh my lord, I did not do the thing right, because sometimes we have he's given us something is either we are sitting on it and not asking him, or we're asking him without even sitting and say, lord, is this the time now and what are you teaching me in this moment? Because I know you've given me a vision, I know that you have equipped me for something, but why is it taking so long? Because sometimes, when we look at it, we might be putting our weight on it and thinking that either we are not we are not in a place, we are not the ones to carry that out or we're saying, god, I know you gave me these directions, but honestly, it feels heavy. How am I going to get these things done?
Speaker 1:And so, even as I asked him about this thing, I've been praying and I've been asking. I've been saying, lord, you've told me to do this, you've you. I believe that you said it's not time to move, and I've stepped, and it's five years, father, five years, and I cannot discount what God has done in the past five years. But there's something like I want him to open doors, I want him to move mountains on me at my behalf. I want to, I want to achieve the success that will come. And for me, you have to know something about me. I don't view success only in terms of money. I view success in terms of impact, life's change. That's how I view it. And so for the past five years, like I've been waiting on this grand thing.
Speaker 1:But God is saying these are the things that I have given you write the book, do the conference, do the book study, do all of these things. Because can I, oh my God, can I whisper something to you? When we're faithful in the small God is able to trust us with, the more so I guess the question I would ask you that I've asked to my own self are you faithful with the small that God has given you? What have he asked you to do? What has he asked you to do? It could be as simple as teaching a Sunday school class. It could be as simple as doing something for someone else. What is it that he has asked you to do? And have you done it? Have you done it? Have you done it? Because that's the question that I asked myself, and so, of course, I'm aligning myself now to say this part I need to do, and I actually went ahead, created the study and launched that, because it makes no sense.
Speaker 1:I keep asking, lord, what do you want me to do, when the thing that he has told me to do, I have not finished it at all. I have not finished it. And it's with a sense of excitement as I come to you. Today is the first of August. For me, it's an opportunity for a fresh start. For me, it's a new day and it's a new season, and if you're listening this today, I feel it's the same thing for you as well. Whenever you listen this, I'm praying that you will just allow the holy spirit to minister to you and just ask him, lord, what do you require of me? Have I been faithful in doing the thing that you've asked me to? And, truthfully, we might not even need to pray, because that sometimes is an immediate answer that we know. But just in case you want to ask him, go ahead and ask him. Go ahead and ask him. Go ahead and ask him. The dream has not died. Don't kill the dream either. Get yourself back in place, rise up. Rise up, go back on your knees and say, father, I'm willing to start over, I'm willing to do what you have asked me to do. Help me Provide what I need for me to move on.
Speaker 1:Jeremiah 29, 11 reminds us and it talks about for I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord Plans to prosper you, not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. That's God for us, and so whatever plans he has given you, whatever he has told you to do, whatever dream he has given to you, god will make it come to pass Once. It is he who gave that to you. He will bring it to pass. Can I tell you, proverbs 3, 5-6 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.
Speaker 1:He shall direct your path. So trust him today. Trust him today, know that he is well able, because if he gave us, if he has given us, a vision, he's unabound to see it through. But we have our own part to play in all of this. So my hope for you today is that you will just sit with him, you'll bring the vision book right out to him and you will say, father, give me fresh insights, I am willing and I am available. Show me what you want to do. Help me to make that first step. Whatever you have asked me to do on my way to get to this thing, help me to be obedient and do it. I trust you, father. I will not lean to my own understanding. I will acknowledge you in all my ways. Please direct my path.
Speaker 1:The vision is for a time and it will come to pass. Just wait, my sisters, and as you wait, do whatever it is God is asking you to do in that waiting season. He is the God of the possibilities, he is the God who makes the impossible possible and he will do it for you, because on the other side of your obedience are lives that will be changed and transformed, because you did what God has called you to do. Don't kill the dream. Instead, sow into it day by day, step by step, and see what God will do. Can I pray for you, father? I thank you for my friends, my sisters, who are listening today. You know where they are. They might have some dreams, some desires, lord, some visions that you have placed within them, almighty god.
Speaker 1:It seems as if time is running out and there's no traction on this dream. I pray, spirit of the living god, that you'll minister, even now, to her. I pray, almighty god, that you'll cause her to hear your still small voice as you give her clear instructions, almighty God, and if she has not moved from that first thing that you've told her to do, that first step that she was supposed to take, I pray, spirit of the Living God, that today she'll make a decision, that she will move, lord God, and you will light her path as she takes each step. I thank you, lord, that this is a time of new beginning, it is a new season and I declare upon my friends, my sisters, who are listening, almighty God, that you, who makes the impossible possible, is able to do it for her, you will do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ever ask or even imagine. According to your power that works within us, bless her abundantly, almighty god. Cause her ears to be open and attentive to you and her heart to be open and accessible to you. Father, we bless you and we honor you in jesus's name. I pray with thanksgiving, amen and amen.
