When Life Is Hard
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When life is lifeing and it feels like everything is coming at you at once, it is easy to wonder where God is and whether you are about to go under. I talk candidly about those moments when faith feels harder than usual, when bills are due, hearts are aching, prayers feel delayed, and the world around us adds even more weight. If you have ever felt overwhelmed, alone, or quietly angry while still trying to believe, you will feel seen here.
I walk through what helps me when my back is against the wall: anchoring myself in Almighty God, remembering what He has already done, and fighting the “amnesia” that makes us forget God’s past provision. We turn to concrete, comforting Bible promises like Psalm 46:1, Matthew 11:28, and Joshua 1:9, and I share how asking God for “a word” or even “a song” can steady your spirit. A simple hymn, “’Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus,” becomes a lifeline and a daily prayer for grace to trust Him more.
You will come away with Christian encouragement you can use right away, plus practical faith habits for anxiety, grief, financial stress, and uncertainty: honest prayer, Scripture anchoring, worship that shifts the atmosphere, and a reminder that God is constant even when circumstances are not. If this conversation strengthens you, subscribe, share it with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review. What is the one verse or worship song you run to when life gets hard?

What Do You Do When Life Hurts
SPEAKER_00When challenges seem to be coming at you like a freight truck, you can feel lost and alone and as if no one cares. Let's face it, these days are challenging. These days are challenging. And my question to you today is simply this. What do you do when life is hard? What do you do when life is hard? There's a new word that's been going around that life is life in. I get that to mean that there are a lot of things that are happening, a lot of challenges that are taking place. And so this word was was kind to say life is doing what it does. Because in life there are ups and there are downs, but there are some times when it appears as if the downs, it the the challenges, the trials, the difficulties are more than the times that are good. And as I look back over my life and I'm thinking of something even just recently that I was going through a situation that was so hard for me to to deal with, to understand, it was a matter of trusting God. Because can I tell you something? It's easy to trust God when things are good, you know. It's easy to trust God when things are good, when we can rejoice at the beautiful things that God is doing. But when our backs are against the wall, when there are things that we are praying for and hoping for and trusting God for, and we're not seeing them coming through. It's hard. It's hard in these moments. It's hard when you're looking at financial trials, when we're looking at emotional difficulties, when we're looking at physical difficulties, it could be the loss of a loved one, it could be someone in a hospital room, and you're wondering, God, where are you? Where are you in the midst of this situation? Currently, a lot is happening in our world. A lot is happening in our world. Couple that with your own personal challenges that you're going through, whether it is within your home, whether it is within your community, at work, wherever it is, it's a lot. And you can feel overwhelmed, you can feel as if all hope is lost. You can feel as if all hope is lost. But it is in these moments that we anchor ourselves in Almighty God. It is in these moments that we remember who God is. It is in these moments that we recall the times that God has opened doors for us. It is in these moments that we recall how God healed, how God restored, how God delivered, how God set free. It is in these times that we anchor ourselves in Almighty God. One of the things that has worked for me is like because in those moments as well, right? When our backs are against the wall and we are we don't have it, seems as if there is nowhere to turn. There's always somewhere to turn. The word of God tells us that I will now lift my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, the Lord who made the heavens and the earth. So when life is hard or when life is life, the only hope that I have is in Christ Jesus. He is the only hope that I have, and that's where I turn my eyes to. And even though sometimes I may be disappointed and I say, Lord, I've been waiting on this. I was expecting you to move in this way, and I didn't see you move. What is happening? I still anchor myself in the scriptures, and I still pray and I say, Lord, give me a word that will encourage me, give me a word that will take me through this, or give me a song. Well, sometimes I don't really ask for a song. There is a song that comes to mind, and even now as I'm talking, I remember a song, and it says, 'Tis so sweet. That's the song that has been holding me and holding me down for the past couple of weeks. The song Simple says, 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take him at his word, uh, just to know. Ah, brother. Just to know my savior lives. I think that's it, but I'll I'll quickly pull that up while we are talking. But that's a song that was a word of encouragement for me, and I started listening it over the past week. It says I started listening it over the past week, and I just had to just lean right into that. It's it says, 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take him at his word, just to rest upon his promise, just to know the said the Lord. Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him, how I've proved him o'er and o'er. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, oh for grace to trust him more. And so in that moment, I'm asking God for the grace to trust him more. Because I know it is sweet to trust in God. But let's face it, when bills need to be paid, when there are heartaches, when there are trials, when there are issues, when you are without a job, when opportunities are not opening for you. It can be hard to remember to trust God. And that's just me just being open with you. It can be hard to remember that God has done it for us before. That He has walked alongside us in this journey before, and that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. And so, where do you find yourself today in this hardness of life? When you feel as if your back is against the wall, when you feel like tearing your head out of your hair out of your head, when you're saying God, when you're maybe screaming at him silently or openly, and say, Father, where are you? Where are you? Listen, I want to tell you something. I want to give you some scriptures to tell you to anchor yourselves in. Because can I tell you something? The enemy wants us to be in this place, this place of despondency, this place of despair, this place where we are saying, God, I don't see you. I don't see you. Forgetting that we've we we might have not have walked the same exact journey, but we've been through challenges and and trials before. And God took us out on the bright side. But sometimes we have amnesia. Sometimes I might have amnesia about the God who delivers, about the God who takes care, about the God who provides, about the God who has always been by my side. Even in my darkest moments, and I was thinking that God has forgotten me. No, he hasn't. And so even as I'm walking out this hard season as well, just trusting him for some things that I'm hoping that he will deliver on. The truest word that I can lean upon now is to remind myself about what the word of God says, and to remind myself that he is the same God who did it then, he's the same God who did it now. He is unchanging. He's unchanging. Psalm 46 1 encourages us to. It says that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Matthew 11 28 calls us and says, Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Joshua 1 9 says, Be strong and courageous, for the Lord our God is with us. So wherever you are today, whatever your struggles are, whether you're looking at the things that are happening in the world, and you're saying, My God, what is happening? Whether you're looking at the gas price and you're looking at the cost of food and your electricity, your utility bills are going up, and there is just challenges amounting all around you. Whether it is your challenge or someone else, a close friend or relative, and you're wondering where is God. The scriptures are there to provide comfort and peace. And so if your heart is broken today, remember the Lord says that He's close to the brokenhearted and he saves those who are crushed in spirit. And so that's the that's the encouragement I want to leave with you today, right? That when the challenges are are are mounting around you and you feel as if you're going under, you are not going under, what do you do when life is hard? You look to Christ, the author and the finisher of your faith. You look to him who is able to deliver you, you look to him who is able to strengthen you. I'm sharing my story with you, but I'm also telling you that in those deepest and darkest moments, even when I feel upset with my heavenly father, I'm still running into him. I acknowledge him, said, Daddy, I feel this is how I'm feeling. I'm anxious, uh, I'm expecting you to do this, and I have not seen you do it. Help me to wait on you, help me to wait patiently on you. And I believe as we are honest and open before him. God gives us, he gives us a song, he gives us a word, he sends someone to encourage us, to encourage our hearts, and that's what is required. That we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding. If we listen to our own understanding, we tell us that we are gonna fail, that God is not with us, that he's gone off and left us, and that's not what he does. So, in this season, in these seasons when life is life, what are you learning from it? What are you taking away from it? Are you taking away from it that God is your refuge? That he's your present help in times of trouble? Are you holding on to his word? Is he giving you a song in the night season? When you wake up, you hear that song in your spirit? Are you singing it out loud to change your atmosphere, to change your heart? Are you doing that? Because my friends, life will always be life in. We'll always have challenges, we'll always have difficulties. The truth is, God is the one constant, his love for us, his delivering power for us, his miraculous power for us is the one thing that we have that is constant, and we know that he will take care of us. Doesn't matter, you may be mourning the loss of a loved one, your heart may be broken, you may be financially challenged, you may be desperate even now. Your loved one may be in a hospital, it might have gotten a bad news. But can I tell you something? The eternal father, he loves you with an everlasting love, he wraps you in his arms and he says, My child, I know what you are going through, but I am here for you. Trust me. Trust me. Let us pray. Spirit of the living God, I thank you for every person who is listening today. Lord, I pray that you will be with them. You know the challenges, you know the heartaches, you know the pain that they're going through, you know every difficult moment, Almighty God. And I pray, Lord, in the name of Jesus, that you'll strengthen them and undergird them. Undergird us, Father, I pray in the name of Jesus. Remind us of who you are and who you've always been. Our Father, the one who has the best gifts in store for us, the one who is walking alongside us. So as we are going through these difficult moments, we can choose to allow you to build faith and trust and confidence in you, or we can allow this hardness to step away from you. My prayer and desire, Almighty God, is that we will be strengthened in you, knowing that we are not walking this alone and that you are with us. In your sweet name, I pray with thanksgiving. Amen and amen. My friend, if this episode has been a blessing to you, I pray that you will share it with someone and make that be a blessing to them always.
