God Cares More About Obedience Than Your Delivery

The hardest assignments from God are often the quiet ones, the moments when nobody is watching and your heart is pounding anyway. On my way home from a mission trip to Point Hope, Alaska, I’m sitting on a long flight from Anchorage when I hear the Spirit of the Lord press one clear thought into my heart: the mission is not finished. What happened next turns into a real-life lesson about fear, faith, and what obedience looks like when you feel trapped in the middle seat and you do not feel brave.

I reflect on what Point Hope taught me about God’s provision and purpose, and I share five simple takeaways that apply to everyday Christian life: God has a plan for your story, He provides what He requires, obedience matters, faith takes movement, and ministry is often about doing it for the one while living for an audience of One. Point Hope Lessons And Takeaways

Now I want to share something with you. Over the past four days, you've been hearing me talking about this mission strip to Point Hope in Alaska. I spoke about the preparation, getting there, doing it for the one. And today I just want to talk about something that the Holy Spirit dropped in my thoughts as I was coming back home. So we know that going on a mission strip is or doing anything that the Lord has called you to do. This purpose that you have for my life. But in all of this, you'd realize that once you relax and say, Lord, I'm surrendering myself to you, you'd see that he takes you through one step at a time, one day at a time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Point Hope. It was just such an amazing experience to see how God provides for his people, how he knows he has a set of people there that he wanted all eight of us to go and minister to. Just thinking that he knew our plan and purpose even before we were formed in our mother's womb. And the Lord would have a destiny that at this point in my life, in their life, that we will be going to a place, a remote village, to make a difference in the lives of the people who are there, his own people, our brothers and sisters. And so I just felt it necessary, like just to share this trip. Whilst I've shared it with my friends and some aspects of it, because some things I just don't remember in the time. And I had an opportunity to share it with my church family as well at church. But I felt I needed to share it with a wider audience. One, as a reminder that God has a plan and a purpose for your life. That two, it doesn't matter what that plan and purpose is. If God says this is what is gonna happen, we just have to trust him that the provisions and everything that we need, that he will provide it. Three, that obedience is very important, and four, that a step of faith is necessary. Anywhere we want to go, anything that we're trusting God for, it requires some movement on our part. Five, do it for the one and also the audience of one. The one means the one person, instead of thinking of a big number and the audience of one, is that we're doing it for God's glory and his honor. So those are some of the takeaways I hope that you'll get. And so, on my way back on my flight from Anchorage, I want to tell you something.

The Nudge On The Flight Home

As I was sitting in the middle of two persons, a male and a female, the female on my right and the male on my left, I heard the Lord said to me, I heard the spirit of the Lord says, The mission is not finished. And I said, Lord, what do you mean? And I heard clearly, my friends, tell the person on your right, and tell the person on your left, Jesus loves you, and for you he died. Can I tell you something? I was scared. S-C-A-R-E-D in all the caps. I was scared as saying, Lord, this is a long flight, this is over six hours, and I'm sitting in the middle, I'm not even at one of the ends. And I, you know, I just said it to him. I told him, I said, Lord, I am scared of doing it. And I sat there and I heard, you can put the message on in your notes section on your phone and you can share it. And I actually did. I wanted to start out by saying, I'm scared, but I felt my father says, No, give the message first, just in case they don't read anything else, they must read that message. I would be lying if I told you that I gave that message immediately, because no, that did not happen. It would take me a couple of hours to do that, and I really felt deep down in my spirit that getting off the flight without telling them, giving them that message was not in the cards that day. It was not in the cards that day. A couple of years ago on our flight from Jamaica, I remember that the Lord said to me to tell the person, oh my, this time the man was sitting in the middle and I was at the in the aisle seat. The Lord says for me to tell him that Jesus loves you. I chickened out, I could not do it. I could not do it. I was scared again, and I remember even getting off the flight and wanted to tell him so badly, and I didn't. And I remember just telling the Lord, Father, you give me another opportunity, I will do it. Well, years later, here came another opportunity, and that's one of the things that I remembered. So I know that getting off the flight without saying it would not work. And I typed the message on my phone. I said, Jesus loves you, and for you, he died. I went down a little further and I said, The Lord asked me to give you this message, but I'm scared. And this is a less way of doing this is a less scary way of doing it.

Sharing The Message While Afraid

I finally I showed the person on my left. He read it. He said, Thank you. He tapped my hand. And finally, finally, finally, I shared it with the young lady on the right. She read it and said, What is the lesson that I learned in that? Immediately I started feeling like I didn't do it right because I didn't verbalize it, I didn't verbalize it. And because I didn't verbalize it, I started to feel bad. And immediately the Spirit of the Lord says, It's not about the how you did it, it was all about obedience, and I felt so good. It took me hours to be able to get that message out, even though the Lord gave me a simpler, easier way for me to do it. But he gave me grace to say it was obedience that was needed. So, what is it that God is asking you to do that your obedience is required, but you're looking at it and saying, Maybe this is the only way that I can do it. Maybe ask the Lord to say, you know, my desire is I want to do this thing. Will you show me how to do it and see what he says to you? Because when I told him that I was scared, honestly, I don't want to believe that I said I wanted to write a message because that would also be scary for me. It because when I wrote the message, I did not send that immediately. So if that's what I wanted to do, it would be comfortable and I would just show it to them. It still required some level of boldness and courage that only the Holy Spirit could have given me. And so that's why I say just ask him to show you what to do. Don't be hung up on the hole, be hung up on the importance of the obedience because that is what is required, obedience. And so I ended that flight just just so I don't know how to explain it to you. I ended that flight feeling so good that I had this great opportunity to go and do ministry with some other great woman, and then the Lord could trust me to say the mission is was not finished, and then I was thinking that okay, so once I send it, sent the message, once I shared the message, it meant that the mission strip was over, and it's when I was sharing the experience with a friend, and she said to me, No, it's just the start, and immediately it connected with my spirit. Maybe the Lord didn't want me to get it at the same time because he knows I would have been even more scared,

Obedience Over Method And Perfection

but it's it's sat in my spirits every opportunity I get. So now if I post on social media, every now and I get I post the message, I shared the message about that trip. But I post Jesus loves you and for you he died, and that's my message to you today to tell you that Jesus loves you and for you he died. He gave me this idea of sharing this message as a part of documenting the journey when not fully, but so that someone else can hear about what he has done, what he can do with your yes, with your obedience. Because God has a lot in store for you, he wants to use you the gifts and the talents that he has invested in you, but it requires you saying yes, it requires you being obedient, it requires you just being relaxed and trusting that God has it all. Yes, you will be scared, and sometimes you're not going to actually do it. But let's let's trust him to give us the boldness and the courage that we need, and trust him for a way. There are times when I will have to go to someone, and that's exactly what I'm going to do because I will be joining my churches, evangelism team. I will be going out, so I can share from the platform, I can share on social media, right? And I'm gonna go back there because I used to do that before, so I'm not sure where this fear has come from. But a way for me to overcome this fear is to actually go out and do it, to actually go out and do it. So that's my encouragement today on my last episode of my missions trip to tell you that the mission is not endone, whatever God has called you to do, and you think you may be at the road of it, he still wants to take you further, and if you're afraid to do something that he has called you to do, trust him to give you the courage and the strength and the boldness that you need to do what he has called you to do.
