John Carroll
John Carroll retired in May 2023 after a successful 46-year career as a band director in Texas public schools. Carroll taught in Monahans, and as Associate Band Director at Permian High School for 27 years. Carroll currently consuls/clinics with several schools in Texas and serves as Director of Bands at Odessa College.
Carroll is a recipient of the Marcia Zoffuto Hero Award and the 2017 Permian HS Outstanding Master Teacher of the Year Award. He is a recipient of the Texas Bandmasters Association Meritorious Achievement Award in 2018.
From 2018-2020, Carroll was the State Band VP for Texas Music Educators Association. He served as TMEA President from 2021-2022. In 2024, Carroll was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu Texas Bandmasters Hall of Fame.
A graduate of Abilene Christian University and WTA&M University, Carroll is a member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association.
