Titanic : Legacy

Christopher Mulholland | Maritime Artist & Historian

Paul Carganilla Episode 41

Host Paul Carganilla gets to know Christopher Andrew Mulholland, Founder and President of "Full Steam Ahead". He has devoted over two decades to studying ocean liners, focusing primarily on the Olympic-Class and Lusitania-Class ships. At the age of eight, he received his first book about RMS Titanic, Discovery of the Titanic by Dr. Robert D. Ballard, featuring paintings by Maritime Artist Ken Marschall. These paintings inspired Chris to artistically preserve the legacies of these great ocean liners, while the James Cameron Titanic (1997) movie inspired him to hand-draw the profile and deck plans.

In Spring 2023, he became the first person in over 100 years to draw the deck plans with pencil and pen (to the best of his knowledge). This achievement has allowed Chris to travel, present his work, undertake commissions, contribute to books, and publish magazine articles. In Fall of that year, Chris was invited to become a board member of the RMS Olympic Steinway Association, and by the spring of this year, Chris became the Deputy Vice President of the Association.
