The Toastmaster's Experience
EP 21 - From Yes to Success: Glen Pearce’s Leadership Story
Glen has been a Toastmaster for nearly 10 years, shares his journey and leadership experiences within the organization.
Glen has held numerous leadership roles, starting as VP of Education six months into his membership and advancing to District Director for District 72. He underscored the personal and professional growth these roles offered, including enhanced confidence, networking, and exposure to new ideas.
He found his club presidency role most fulfilling for its team-building aspects and highlighted the importance of delegation and mentoring.
Glen described Toastmasters as a "safe place to learn" and stressed the importance of embracing challenges, saying yes to roles, and being open to feedback. He values the evolving dynamics of communication and leadership in Toastmasters, especially as younger, tech-savvy members bring fresh perspectives. For newcomers, Glen advises attending meetings to experience the value of speaking and leadership opportunities firsthand.
A book Glen recommended is "Courage is Calling". Ryan Holiday
