You have felt the nudge while grabbing groceries, replacing a cleaner, or tossing another maybe not great product into the cart: Lord, how do I honor You with my health and my home?

It is a familiar feeling, and feelings of overwhelm do not have to dictate your choices. We go straight to the heart of the question many believers carry quietly: is natural living biblical, and how do we pursue Christian wellness without fear, perfectionism, or the pressure to do everything at once?

We talk about stewardship as a spiritual practice, because our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and our daily choices are never just physical.

I walk through simple, grounding questions that help you move from overwhelm to wisdom, like what you have been allowing in without awareness and whether something supports the way God designed your body to function.

You will hear why peace matters as a guide for discernment, how bringing these decisions into your morning devotions can anchor your heart, and how a God-centered lifestyle grows through relationship instead of rigid checklists.

We also dig into essential oils and the gentle science of aromatherapy, exploring the way aroma powerfully connects to memory and our everyday emotions.

Then, I introduce the Christ-centered Aroma Freedom Technique as a gentle path for identifying limiting beliefs and replacing lies with God's truth.

That is where repentance as metanoeō (μετανοέω), a true change of mind, becomes practical and personal, changing habits over time and turning natural living into quiet ministry that points back to the Creator.

If this podcast has been a blessing to you or helped you grow in your walk with Christ, would you take a moment to leave a review? It only takes a minute, and your words help more women discover this space and be encouraged in their faith as well. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your support. All right, it's time to get started. Grab your Bible, dust off your journal, and cozy up to your favorite beverage and let's dive in. Today we're talking about a question many Christians have asked: Is natural living biblical? And how do I discern God's way for my health? This is not about perfection, it's not about fear, and it's not about chasing trends either. It's about stewardship, it's about wisdom, and most of all, it's about inviting God into the decisions we often make on autopilot. So many believers today feel a quiet nudge. It often starts as a small thought. Maybe I should pay more attention to what I'm using, what I'm eating, what I'm surrounding myself with. And that nudge is not something to ignore. It may very well be the Holy Spirit gently guiding you into a deeper level of care for what God has entrusted to you. Because your body is not random, your home is not random, your influence is not random. Scripture tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. That means how we care for ourselves is not just a personal decision, it's a spiritual one. But here is where many people get stuck. They feel overwhelmed, they wonder, where do I even start? What actually matters? Is this really spiritual or am I overthinking it? And I want to gently say this: you are not overthinking it. You are becoming aware. And awareness, when surrendered to God, leads to transformation. When we talk about natural living, we are not just talking about swapping products or reading labels. We're talking about alignment. We are asking, Lord, what does it look like to live in a way that reflects your design? From the very beginning in Genesis, God created the earth with intention. He filled it with plants, herbs, and trees and declared them good. There was purpose woven into creation, provision, healing, nourishment. And while we live in a modern world filled with incredible advancements, we also live in a world where many things have become overly processed, overly synthetic, and disconnected from that original design. So the question becomes how do we discern wisely without becoming fearful or extreme? And the answer is not found in a checklist, it's found in relationship. It begins with asking the right questions. When you start shifting toward a more natural, God-centered lifestyle, one of the first questions to bring before God is this, Father, what have I been allowing into my life without awareness? And that question alone can open your eyes in powerful ways. Many of us have grown up trusting what's in the store, what's on the shelves. We assume that if something is available, it must be safe. But part of stewardship is learning to pause and ask, what is this made of? Not from a place of anxiety, but from a place of wisdom. Another important question is, does this support the way God designed my body to function? Our bodies were crafted with incredible intelligence, systems that detox, restore, and heal. But certain substances can burden those systems over time. And this is where natural solutions like therapeutic grade essential oils, the plant-based ones, not the ones created in the lab, this is where they can play such a beautiful role. Because when you begin using pure therapeutic grade essential oils, whether aromatically, topically, or even internally when appropriate, something remarkable begins to happen. These are not just pleasant scents, they are powerful plant compounds that the body recognizes. They support your systems, they assist your body in releasing what does not belong, they help restore balance. In a world where toxins can quietly accumulate, God has already provided a way to gently help the body cleanse and realign. And what I love is that this is not just physical, it is deeply connected to us emotionally and spiritually as well. Because our bodies and our emotions are not separate. Have you ever noticed how a smell can instantly take you back to a memory? This is not random. This is God's design. And this is where I want to introduce something that's been incredibly powerful in my own life and in the lives of many I've worked with: the aroma freedom technique. The aroma freedom technique, when it is Christ-centered, is a gentle process that helps you identify and release negative thought patterns and emotional blocks that may be holding you back. And it works in partnership with essential oils. Let me explain this in simple terms. In your brain, there is a part called the amygdala. This is where emotions and memories are processed. When you experience something emotional, especially something painful, it can create a kind of loop in your brain. That loop can show up as limiting beliefs. Things like I'm not good enough or I'll never change, or this is just who I am. Even if you love Jesus deeply, those patterns can still be there. What the aroma freedom technique does is it helps you to gently bring those thoughts to the surface, invite God into them, and then this is the key, replace them with his truth. When you inhale essential oils during this process, the scent travels directly to the limbic system, the emotional center of the brain. This allows you to access those stored emotions more easily. It's not about forcing anything, it's about allowing, allowing God to reveal, allowing truth to replace lies, allowing your mind to be renewed. And this aligns beautifully with scripture. This is not just spiritual language, there's actually a neurological component to it. You are literally creating new pathways in your brain. And as those pathways change, your choices begin to change too, which brings us back to natural living. Because many of our habits are not just physical, they are tied to beliefs. So another powerful question to ask is, Lord, what beliefs are driving my current habits? Sometimes we hold on to things simply because they are familiar. Sometimes we resist change because it feels uncomfortable. But when we invite God into the process, he brings clarity and peace. The New Testament word translated as repentance in the Greek is metanoeō (μετανοέω). This word points to a change of mind, a transformation of thinking. It's not just about turning away from sin, it's about turning toward truth. It's about seeing differently, understanding differently, choosing differently, because your perspective has shifted. When Jesus called people to repent, he was inviting them into metanoeō (μετανοέω), into a new way of thinking that would lead to a new way of living. And that is exactly what happens when you begin to pursue a more natural, God-centered lifestyle. It's not about rules, it's about revelation, it's about allowing God to reshape how you think about your body, your home, your habits, and your influence. And as your thinking changes, your actions follow. You begin to ask better questions. Questions like, is this life-giving? Is this aligned with God's design? Is this something I feel peace about? And peace is important. Because God does not lead us through fear and pressure, he leads us through peace and conviction. If you feel overwhelmed, that is not God rushing you. He invites you to walk step by step. Another question is: how can I make changes in a way that honors both my health and my calling? For many of you listening, especially if you work from home or have influence in your daily circles, this matters deeply because your life is a testimony. When people see you making intentional, thoughtful choices, when they see peace instead of stress, when they see consistency, they begin to notice. And often that opens the door to conversations about faith. This is how natural living can become a ministry, not in a forced way, not in a sales-driven way, but in a genuine relational way. You might share how you've simplified your rhythms. You might talk about how you've become more mindful of what you bring into your home. You might even share how essential oils have supported your emotional and physical well-being. And in those moments, you are not just sharing products, you are sharing wisdom, you are sharing hope. And ultimately, you are pointing people back to the creator because every good thing leads back to him. Now I want to circle back to something important. This journey is not about doing everything at once, it's about being led. You might start with one area, maybe it's what you're using in your home, maybe it's what you're putting on your skin, maybe it's how you are managing stress and emotions. Wherever you start, bring God into it. Pray over it, ask him to guide your decisions and trust that he will. Because he cares about every part of your life, even the parts that feel small. And as you begin to make these shifts, you will likely find yourself wanting more clarity, more confidence, more understanding of what to look for and what to avoid. And that's exactly why I created my free guide: "12 Questions to Ask Before Switching to Natural Wellness Solutions." Inside, I'll walk you through simple practical questions that will help you make wise decisions without feeling overwhelmed. Questions that will help you discern ingredients, evaluate products, and align your choices with your faith. It's not complicated, it's not heavy, it's designed to support you right where you are. So if something in today's episode stirred your heart, if you feel that nudge to begin to deepen your journey, I want to invite you to grab that guide. You can find it at PaulaBehrens.com/guide. That's Paula Behrens B E H R E N S .com/guide (no spaces). Just go there and it'll be waiting for you. As we close today, I want to leave you with this thought. You don't have to have all the answers to begin. You just need a willing heart. You just need a heart that says, Lord, show me, lead me, help me honor you in this area of my life. And he will, step by step, choice by choice, thought by thought. He will guide you into a life that reflects his wisdom, his peace, and his design. And as you walk that out, others will see it. And they will be drawn not just to the changes you've made, but to the God who led you there. Thank you for tuning in today. And remember, just like setting biblical boundaries, it's okay to say no to things that don't serve you well, like that third piece of cake at the church potluck.
