STAY FEARLESS - The Fearless Sports Performance Podcast

Ep. 14 | Gabriel Trastoy - Learning to Trust Yourself as both a Player and a Coach

Dr. Alex Acevedo & Joey Hanley Episode 14

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into learning to trust yourself as both a player and coach with Gabriel Trastoy. Gabe played college baseball at Loyola University New Orleans where he was a mainstay at the catcher position, owning the top 3 spots in the record book for most runners caught stealing in a single season (66% RCS) and the number 1 spot for runners caught stealing in a career. Gabe was a leader for the pitching staff and the best catcher I’ve ever thrown to. He is now an assistant coach at Loyola New Orleans and spent this summer as the head coach of the Boca Beach Boys. In this episode, Gabe shares his insights as he has made the transition from player to coach and how his experiences and mentors have shaped his approach. We talk about building a strong mindset and culture and how important that is for maximizing performance. We also break down Gabe’s experience as a catcher and the importance of strong catcher/pitcher relationships.
