Through the Shatter, She Became: My wounds wrote this story, her strength finished it

At just four years old, Andrea Panteli’s life was completely changed by a stroke that never should have happened. One day, her mother was vibrant and energised; the next, her left side was entirely paralysed. But in this journey of loss, pain and premature responsibility, a quiet steadfast strength was born.

When your life is shaped by someone else’s medical negligence, life-threatening surgeries and frequent hospital visits, you learn to live in the present, making each moment count and growing a quiet resilience almost without noticing. Despite her mother’s complex health journey, Andrea grew up with a devotion and love that doesn’t always need words.

Through the Shatter, She Became will take you through the lasting imprint of illness, complex but tender mother-daughter bonds and a kind of grief that lives alongside deep gratitude. Out of faith and resilience, Andrea’s identity was formed; not by what was planned, but by what was lived.

Congratulations, the book. Through the shatter, she becomes. Tell us all about it.

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

I'm coming off a high with my book launch, which happened today. And honestly, I'm so touched with all the support that I'm getting so far. So basically, what my book is about really, Joe, it takes you through my personal journey. So it's a memoir. It's quite raw, it's quite deep, it's um deeply personal. I take you through my life's challenges, all the highs, all the lows. Um, I don't leave anything out. It's um quite raw. Um where there are the moments that broke me, it's actually how I found myself. Yeah. Um, this book is about um uh love, uh, resilience, faith. Um, but ultimately it's a book about uh becoming and yeah, so I take you through my journey, and it's it's quite a rocky one because my mom had a stroke when I was four years old, and that left her paralyzed. And from there I was thrown into a whirlwind where I had no choice but to grow up quite quickly. Um, I had I had to grow up quickly, I had to be independent, um, and to be honest with you, I actually didn't know what those words meant. I was only four years old. Each chapter of my book um takes you through my journey, specific moments that absolutely shattered my world. But um with each chapter, I'm actually moving through it. And um, yeah, there is a lot of loss and some grief and sadness woven into my book, but what this book is really about is about the resilience and the strength that I actually didn't know that I had. It's a book which shows you that love can build within you when you think that you can't survive. Um, and really it's all these shitty experiences that I've gone through. I call them shit storms, I call them curveballs. Um, but they're ultimately the ones that actually shaped me into the person that I am today. It's helped me grow as a person. Um, but also um it's it's actually healed me. Yeah. Um, so really where there is pain, there is actually growth. And what I wanted to show is that even in the breaking, even when we're facing the toughest moments of our life, that there is a version of you that's ready to rise.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And Andrea, the transformation, you're sitting here now, you have written your story, you uh have gone on that journey to write it. Um, incredibly powerful because there'll be people who are watching who will might in the future go through things and you feel like you're the only one, you feel like everybody has those moments. Um but you know, Andrew, you've got to a point where you've you're able to kind of journal this down, put it in a memoir style book and share. Pretty, pretty impressive effort.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Look, I know that there are so many people out there that are suffering in silence, and I was one of them. Um, I was angry, I was frustrated, I was, yeah, I was damnright pissed off with the world because I was constantly being handed something. I wanted my reader to feel that they're not alone. Yeah, um, that there are people that are going through the same shit, but I wanted to show them that really there is light at the end of the tunnel, there is love around us. Um, we may not see it in front of us, but um ultimately we are strong. We can get back on our feet and and rise and become the best version.

SPEAKER_01

And I think, you know, I mean, Andrea, this is just my take. Uh, I I guess the book is your story, but you know, it felt like you're here to help others, to serve others with, yeah, like this is this has been my path, this has been my transformation, and you too um have faith, you know, believe.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I truly believe that there is a sense of power in the sense of by sharing my story, it allows other people to feel um they will be able to resonate with a lot of my my stuff because my family is in it. There's things about motherhood, about work, we lose our identities, and and sometimes like we do feel like we're alone. So these uh events in this book are so relatable that you don't feel that you're on your own in this world. And I wanted to share that light, I wanted to share that hope, you know. Um, I wanted to help someone stand on their own two feet because I didn't have anyone backing me apart from my husband and my kids. I'm not gonna say, you know, but like ultimately I felt like I was on my own.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Uh Andrea, do you want to tell us about the riding journey as a writer? Um, tell us about what that was like and tell us anything we need to know about you. If we're watching and we're curious about your story, tell us about Andrea.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So, Andrea, well, I'm a mum of two boys. Um, I've got a 20-year-old and a 15-year-old. Um, I have had many career changes, which you will read in my book. Um, but right now, as I in today's uh day, I am a personal trainer. I'm a health and wellness uh coach. I'm also um into um healing via mind shifting, so that has really helped me through my journey. Um I I I I whatever. I don't really like talking about myself. I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_01

Tell us, tell us then about writing. Tell us the process of writing, you know, what it was like to emotionally put it all down. But yeah, your journey as an author.

SPEAKER_00

So my journey is actually quite interesting because I didn't set out to write a book. Um, it actually happened with me having a chit chat with my business mentor, and I was literally going through a nervous breakdown because there was just so much happening. And as a joke, I turned around and I said, excuse my language, yeah. Um this life, I need to write a book because people won't believe the shit that I've gone through. Anyway, so from there, we actually I started jotting a few things down, and I'm like, I have been through quite a bit. Um, maybe this is a chance for me to actually heal. So then as I started writing, it actually got quite deep. Um, I had to relive everything all over again, but in saying that, there was so much reflection, there was so much growth, and it was so interesting because last night I was having a chit-chat with my husband, and he was saying, it's actually really interesting when you were writing the book, I could actually see the onion layers heal because I started to heal from yeah, so that was really touching. So looking back, um, because I only started writing a book last year, um, and I've I felt as though I've um I'm born again. Like I feel like I've got this surge of energy, I feel light, um, even though this book is heavy.

SPEAKER_01

Does that make sense? Yeah, no, it makes sense. It definitely does. And I think that makes the book even more powerful, doesn't it? The fact that you've gone on this journey as you've written it. Andrea, uh, if we're watching anywhere in the world, if we're curious about sort of diving into your story and your journey, your transformation, uh, how do we connect with you? I've got, I'll put this in the show notes. You know, there's Instagram, there's lots of different platforms, but point us in the direction of where you would want someone to go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so my main focus at the moment is on Instagram. So I'm Andrea underscore pantelli underscore author. Um so that's my main um gig at the moment. This is very new to me. So I'm trying to find, you know, the platforms, but that's mainly where where you'd find me. That's a good place to start. Yeah, that's a great place to start. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like I'm always um diving into different pro projects, and I need to just focus on the one thing at a time. So let me.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's a first-time author, as long as you've got, you know, a platform where people who are curious or want to learn more. Um, yeah, no, that's great. I'll put that in the show notes. Thank you. Andrea, would you? I mean, you're you should enjoy this time. You should be incredibly proud. I am continue to heal. Um, but would you write again? I mean, whether it's not a memoir, would like did you love that process as a loved it, absolutely loved it.

SPEAKER_00

I just felt as though I was free. Um, and I am a motor mouth. Um, I do I do love to talk even though I am quite shy. Um, but I can definitely feel something in the works. So I'm excited to come off this wave and maybe start something.

SPEAKER_01

Well, enjoy the wave because you know, incredibly well deserved and very powerful to get your story out there. Thanks for joining us. It when these new books come out in the future, I want you to come back. Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me. Oh, good, Andrea. Lovely to meet you. I really enjoyed the chat. Thank you. Have a great day.

SPEAKER_00
