Matt earned his PhD in social psychology from Kansas, spent four years as a postdoc in Germany, and three years as an assistant professor at Florida. He made the leap from academia because he wanted to apply behavioral science and social psychology to real decisions outside of the controlled lab. After academia, he brought his expertise to Calm and Noom, embedding behavioral science into digital health products. Now, Matt is Director of Customer Experience at Hive Science, a technology start-up that has invented the world's first decision psychology platform at the intersection of marketing, quantitative social psychology, and AI/ML.
Hive works with fortune 100 companies, and other large brands including Keurig Dr Pepper, Land Rover & Accenture. At Hive, Matt partners with these global brands & creative agencies to translate predictive psychology into measurable value, helping teams deconstruct their problems into core psychological mechanisms and then reconstruct their solutions from the bottom up.
