Ken Mercer is referred to by some as the "Minister of Education!" He will report on both incredible, current events and historic "Moments in American History" that for some reason are...
DELETED and/or ERASED from our nation's textbooks and schools.
Is that academic bias meant to dilute the honest, documented faith and values of many of our Founders - including the impact and influence of new American Christians of the "Great Awakening?"
Mercer will bring those "Missing Moments" back! He tackles the "truths" and "facts" behind these historic and current events that will unite Americans, not divide us.
Ken will also share many of the incredible Bible Verses and Worship Songs that continue to define our history Faith and Values!
Remember two lessons from Ken Mercer:
A. There is only one United States of America. If we are gone, there is no other America to go to!
B. The "Secret" of America is this:
"In a place called the United States of America... in GOD We STILL Trust!"

Wednesday Worship: When Others Say You Are Just A "Shepherd Boy"
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
They told him to stay in the field, keep his head down, and tend the sheep. God told a different story and it started with a choice no one saw coming.
Wednesday Worship with Ken Mercer brings the focus to David in 1 Samuel 16 and the worship song “The Shepherd Boy” by Ray Boltz, where an overlooked young shepherd becomes the chosen king of Israel.
We walk through the turning point moment when Samuel visits Jesse’s house, seven impressive sons stand in front of the prophet, and each one is passed over. The line that cuts through the noise still hits hard today: people look at the outside, but God looks at the heart. If you’ve ever been labeled “just” something just a helper, just a beginner, just the one in the background this message meets you right there with hope and clarity.
We also talk about how God’s plan often grows in ordinary routines, how calling doesn’t always fit the armor others hand you, and why David’s story is not about perfection but about a heart that’s willing to follow. Then we move into the song-sermon blend of “The Shepherd Boy,” letting the lyrics drive home a simple takeaway: when others reduce you, God can rename you.
If this encourages you, subscribe for more Wednesday Worship, share this with someone who feels overlooked, and leave a review so more listeners can find it. What’s one label you’re ready to lay down today?

Welcome And Song Introduction
SPEAKER_00This is Ken Mercer, and welcome to Wednesday Worship. Today's song is The Shepherd Boy. The Shepherd Boy, written by Ray Boltz. It's taken from the Old Testament, the first book of Samuel, chapter 16, and it talks about a young shepherd boy. Guess what his name is? David. And one day David became king of Israel. This is a great sermon and a great worship psalm because it may speak to you. Maybe people have told you in your life that you're just a shepherd boy or you're just a shepherd girl, and that's all you're ever going to be. But what if God has greater plans for you? What if God has an awesome plan for you if you just stand up and follow him? I know you'll be blessed today by this short discussion and this wonderful song, The Shepherd Boy.
The Shepherd Theme In Scripture
SPEAKER_00The sheep, or the analogy of the shepherd, is throughout the Bible. The good shepherd, the lost sheep. In 1 Samuel 16, is talk about a young boy named David. He's tending the sheep, and it meant kind of like, well, he's the youngest. He's just a shepherd boy. That's it. Just a shepherd boy. Some of you may say, well, what about the 23rd Psalm? The Lord is my shepherd. That's actually written by the same David I'm discussing today. But let's look at chapter 16 of 1 Samuel and what's happening to this young boy David that would forever change a boy who other folks would say, He's just tending the sheep. He's just a shepherd boy.
Saul Rejected Samuel Sent
SPEAKER_00They had a king at that time named Saul, and Saul wasn't doing quite the right thing. So God told a prophet named Samuel, and by the way, Samuel is a great and powerful name for a son or grandson, Samuel. But Samuel was told to go look for the new king, and he was told to go to the house of Jesse, that Jesse had eight boys. So he came to Jesse, and imagine someone knocks on your door and say, Excuse me, one of your sons will be the next king of Israel.
Jesse’s Sons And God Sees Hearts
SPEAKER_00Well, Jesse, the Bible says, brought out his sons one by one, and every one of them, the prophet Samuel, asked questions. And God kind of whispered in his ear, saying, Hey, remember, you know, man looks on the outside, but God looks where? Say it with me, the inside. Man may look at the physical, but God looks at what? Let's say it together, the heart. So he went through seven sons, and every one looked like they could be a king. One by one, the biggest and the strongest came before the prophet Samuel. And Samuel said, Do you have any other sons? And the answer was, There's the youngest. He's tending the sheep, which means he's little David. He's just a shepherd
David Chosen Despite Being Overlooked
SPEAKER_00boy. And I think you know the rest of the story of David. That was the one chosen. The Bible tells us when he went to go fight and put the armor on, and the armor did not fit him. His body was so slim he was a young boy. Yet the Bible says this is the one that God chose, a man after God's heart. Of course, was David perfect? No, David made a lot of mistakes. But he was the one that fell the giant Goliath. That was little David. And he was the one that when nations came to try to attack Israel, when they saw David and his armies, they shook, they trembled, did not want to face David. I love this story in 1 Samuel chapter 16, because it reminds many of us that have any of you ever been in life you felt like other people, and sometimes people who love you, who really care, would tell you, hey, you're just there to tend the sheep. You're just a shepherd boy. That's all you're ever going to be. And yet, as we saw with David, God had much, much bigger plans for the shepherd boy.
Feeling Dismissed God’s Bigger Plan
SPEAKER_00And today's Wednesday worship song is The Shepherd Boy, written by Ray Boltz.
Invitation To Hear Ray Boltz
SPEAKER_00So I sincerely invite you to go into YouTube or go to your podcast channels and pull down Ray Boltz the Shepherd Boy. You will be blessed. Now, I'm going to rearrange a song for today because it's kind of a song sermon teaching together, and I hope and pray that you will be blessed.
Song Sermon Performance And Blessing
SPEAKER_00One by one, Jesse's sons they each stood before the prophet. Their father knew a king would soon be crowned, and each one passed, except the last well. No one thought to call him, he's tending the sheep. Surely little David, he would never, never wear a crown. But when others say, Hey, you're just a shepherd boy, go tend the sheep. God may say no, you are a king. Even though your life seems filled with ordinary things in just one moment, our God, he can touch you and everything will change when others say, Hey, go tend the sheep, you're just a shepherd boy. God may say no. You are a king. Well it wasn't the biggest, nah, it wasn't the strongest. Chosen on that day, but that giant fell. And nations trembled when they stood, when they stood in David's way, in his way, so when others say you're just a shepherd boy, God may say no, you are a king. Even though your life seems filled with such ordinary things in just one moment, our God, he can touch you and everything will change when others say Go tend the sheep. You're just a shepherd boy. God may say, My child, I have great and mighty plans for you. Just stand up and follow me. Amen. Amen. Amen.
