Another Day Another Problem with Kassandra
Welcome to my first podcast called “Another Day Another Problem” where I’ll be talking about different topics and situations that we as humans in the modern day face on a daily basis, more specifically the lower class and colored americans. Today we’ll be talking about Privilege and how it affects our daily lives.
Talk about the different types of privilege, (pretty, white, able-bodied, monetary, etc)
I. What is Privilege? Its a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group. In other words: The other side of oppression.
Where do you typically see Privilege? It can be seen anywhere, and these days it’s not even hidden. There’s many sides to privilege and usually it falls more in favor of those with lighter skin tones..
For example. White people. How does each one affect life? – Pretty privileged people are usually depressed, yet hide it well.
Their depression stems from the near constant harassment they have to endure, especially by those that find them attractive. Able-bodied privilege is something that a lot of us tend to take for granted? Why? Because we were born with this ability, we don't think much of it until we see someone who lacks that ability
to let's say.. Walk.
We don't really consider how privileged we are to be able to walk where we
want to, or even be able to get out of bed. Some people can’t even do that much.
White privilege doesn’t even need much of an explanation but i’m gonna give one anyways. The work force is and likely always will be in favor of white people, they get the higher positions, paid more, some of them even have privileged parents who give their kids the highest roles (NEPO BABIES). WP is definitely rooted deeply into our justice system too..
Monetary privilege. This is a MAJOR one. In today’s day and age, money and technology rule us all. And honestly if you don’t have money you won’t be making it too far in life, or you have to spend your life slaving away just to get your hands on scraps of funds. Monetary privilege is the one that’s most rubbed in our faces much like the White privilege. The pay gaps between men and women have never been even and if a women wants to make anywhere close to what men
typically make then they need at least 1 degree, and they need to be one level higher, if a man has a Bachelors degree then a women needs to have a Master’s degree. It’s bullshit
~ How can we get rid of Privilege?
Privilege is something that we can never truly get rid of, least not so easily. So long as the world keeps going the way its going now the gap in privilege will only get vaster and more difficult to conquer. We need all the underprivileged people to get together and make a stand. Riot if we need to. We’re Americans, all we know if violence, why not put it toward something thats useful for us?
