The F Word : A Whyfield Podcast

25- Football: bringing Truro’s Football team home

Whyfield

In this episode of The F Word, we talk all things Football with Rob Butland from Truro City Football Club, from Cornwall’s highest-ranking team not having a ground to play on in the county, to moving home to their very own stadium, with an average of 1500 spectators each match.

We hear not only about Rob’s journey into the role he plays at the Football club but also the incredible journey that the team themselves have had, discussing both the highs and lows and how they plan to continue to improve.

We dive into how Cornwall can have the mindset of ‘if you want to make it, you have to leave’, and although this is a great option for someone, we need to be able to provide that in Cornwall, allowing kids to grow up, stay in Cornwall, and achieve their goals in whatever sport they want and how the club want to make sure they are setting the bar and show that it is possible.

The club prides itself on using local businesses and it's great when businesses get involved, whether through sponsorship or partnership or simply enjoying a day out watching a match with the family.
