Sermons on the Side
37 | 4th & 25 Prayers
What do you do when life backs you into a corner and the odds are stacked against you?
In this episode, Richard shares a powerful conversation he had with a pastor friend whose church was facing a make-or-break moment. The situation reminded him of one of the wildest plays in college football history - Arkansas vs. Ole Miss in 2015 - when, on fourth and twenty-five in overtime, a desperate heave, a wild lateral, and a broken play somehow turned into a first down that kept hope alive.
That “4th & 25” moment became a picture of what desperate prayer looks like - the kind of prayer Hannah prayed in the temple when she poured out her soul before God. Sometimes, it takes hitting the point of desperation before we truly cry out with everything we’ve got.
This week’s Sermon on the Side is both a challenge and an invitation:
- Where do you need that kind of 4th & prayer in your own life?
- Where are you willing to get desperate before God?
And if you’re there right now - staring at an impossible situation - Richard and Brad extend an open invitation: reach out. Let us pick up the ball with you, pray with you, and run together for the first down.
