Episode 8 - Performing Musician Tours Vandoit-Style

Vandoit Vans

Charlotte Morris is a folk/Americana artist who travels all over the place country on tour in her Vandoit: her dog Kiwi gladly accompanies her. In this episode we explore how she got into music, what touring is like for her, how her Vandoit has affected her ability to tour, and some things she has learned along the way as a solo traveler. This is such a fun conversation!

Here are some of her recommendations for finding spots to camp!:

  • iOverlander - the #1 app I use to find places to camp/stop for the night; namely, to find public land, dispersed camping, and stealth camp - so to find places I don't need to pay for
  • Hipcamp - if I'm going someplace that really doesn't have any free options, or if I'm looking for a specific camping experience
  • Harvest Hosts - yearly membership, but then access to free stays with partnering vineyards, breweries, farms, etc.
  • AllTrails - find & then guide my hikes
  • RoadTripping - I typically use this to find fun things to do along my routes, as they'll show tourist attractions, nature areas, bizarre/unique stops lol but they also have the option to find campsites and places to stay overnight
  • The Dyrt - campsite finder. I tend to use this less but its less community driven (in the way iOverlander is), and they have paywalls to certain information, but it is a good app for finding sites, especially if you're looking for pay sites or more standard overnight options.
  • Wifi Map - app to help find places to connect to wifi
