Ep 12 - Hearing and Responding to the Holy Spirit's Voice
Hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit is a journey filled with wonder, mystery, and sometimes, challenges. Have you ever been struck by a dream that seemed a little too real, or found yourself guided by a sudden, inexplicable nudge? Today, we're opening up about our own spiritual encounters and the subtle ways the Holy Spirit communicates with us. From dreams meant for others that miraculously unfold in reality, to divine timing that teaches us patience and preparation, each shared story offers a glimpse into the complexity of spiritual guidance and the divine wisdom that shapes our lives.
Navigating the whispers of the Holy Spirit isn't always straightforward. It often requires stripping away our own desires to hear the call for self-discipline and delayed gratification—an answer that sometimes is simply "not yet." By understanding the difference between our own wants and genuine divine guidance, we uncover the importance of aligning with spiritual prompts, even when they challenge our comfort zones. Through heartfelt discussions, we'll highlight how embracing spiritual honesty and openness in our relationship with God can foster profound personal growth and offer unexpected blessings.
Church isn't just for the perfect; it's a sanctuary for everyone to lay down their burdens and find support. Many of us face resistance when called to gather spiritually, yet those who push through often find remarkable personal transformation waiting on the other side. In our conversation today, we reflect on the power of prayer, the strength found in community, and the grace of God that guides us every step of the way. Join us as we express gratitude for God's unwavering love and encourage you to invite the Holy Spirit's presence into your life for meaningful connection and growth.

Welcome to Unfiltered Christian with Cece and Shea.
Speaker 2:Come and join us on an authentic journey through the highs and lows of our Christian faith.
Speaker 1:Where we'll be holding nothing back, hey Saints.
Speaker 2:Hey guys, welcome back.
Speaker 1:Welcome, welcome, welcome, sorry, sorry, I was drinking and you got to excuse me. I'm not well, even though it's not winter in the seasonal time, but this autumn is getting cold, so the season has changed it sure is sure, is it sure is but welcome back everyone to another episode of Unfiltered Christian.
Speaker 2:Thank you. Thank you to you all for your support and for listening in and, yeah, we just pray that you've been blessed thus far. Question for you today is what does the voice of the Holy Spirit sound like to you or look like to you? So, when the Holy Spirit speaks to you and says, guides you in whatever way, what does that look like for you?
Speaker 1:It's funny that you say this. This is a really good question. Do you know what? When I pray, I ask the Lord specifically how to come to me. Um, so the holy spirit either comes to me in dreams for other people or for me it comes in a person. But I would ask specifically, so I don't know, like, say, for example, I want an answer. I would say, lord, send, if, like, if this is, your will send me somebody who I haven't spoken to recently and it would be random, like that, and then, like, somebody who I haven't spoken to in a long time will just come. Do you mean in that sense?
Speaker 2:no, yeah, I do, I do. I like this. It's like my brain's just spinning with so many questions.
Speaker 1:But yeah, let me know because, for me, I struggle with self, we all struggle with self, so I could be praying about something like I don't know. Like let's say for example um, like lord, is this job for me, but because I want it, I might not be listening, like he might be telling me no so I'm not listening because I want it.
Speaker 1:So I start saying, lord, if it is your will, and if that person don't come, then it's like okay, and it always happens whatever I ask specifically for, and I always make it be uncomfortable for me. So hence why somebody that I haven't spoken to in a long time, like I could even say it like, for example, I don't speak to one of my sisters and if I say like Lord, lord, let her come, like and she just randomly comes out, whoa, yeah, because I never. I used to find it difficult when people were like I think it's depending on the situation as well. I think things that I want or things that I need an answer for I have to be specific. But then sometimes there's certain times when I'll be like watching something, oh, like last week.
Speaker 1:Um, I can't talk about the topic. However it's, it's a topic that me and Shay was talking about, but we're going to talk about it in another episode, so I don't want to disclose too much, but we were. She asked me a question um, from her um, is it the marriage group, the singles group?
Speaker 2:she asked me a question yeah, yeah, my singles group, yeah, this, this one yeah and um yeah.
Speaker 1:So she asked me a question from the singles group. I didn't really have an answer because I've never really studied it. However, like I was curious and I was just like, lord, I want to learn about this. And then a couple of weeks later, I was watching YouTube. I was watching like the end of times and then the next video that came up was about is it right or wrong? And I was just like, okay, holy spirit, I see you there yeah, yeah because I've never actually looked at that topic at all
Speaker 2:yeah, yeah, we're gonna talk about that, though, because it's so funny. Like when she actually got the, when she actually got the, the, um, the video pop up. That's when I didn't want to know about it anymore. Like my mom was like, oh, I don't want to know. Now, like, and I'm still in that place where I don't want to know, because I just feel like this is just too much, like it's too too much when you have to take away stuff that you really really like. Anyways, we'll talk about that another time. It's interesting what you said about you get dreams to other people, but not for yourself.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Interesting. That's really really interesting.
Speaker 1:I get random dreams and I feel like I'm the dream teller, like the Holy Spirit just gives me these dreams, because every dream that I've had about somebody has come true, like whether it be this year, a couple of years.
Speaker 2:Or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Or foretelling them about do not do this.
Speaker 2:And it's scary.
Speaker 1:A lot of people don't like when I dream. They're like no, no, no.
Speaker 2:When I'm like I had a dream. I testify that. Yeah, I get. I get complete anxiety. When she says she dreamt about me, I'm like, oh my gosh, like you did what? Like I don't want to hear it at all. I'm just like, please, please, please, don't let her dream about me. I don't want to hear anything. I don't want to know. Like literally I'm just freaking out because I know whatever she's dreamt about Even though she hasn't had dreams about me per se, that I've been like okay, but any other dream she's had about anybody else, it's happened. And I'm just like, whew, that is heavy. So, yeah, I get that. It is scary for you as well having to tell people about that.
Speaker 1:That's too much pressure. You know what's crazy when I dream about myself. It's never about me. It's always like a family member that I am About you, yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Ah, okay, got it, got it. That's powerful. I feel like the Holy Spirit placed this question on my mind. Even though it's about the Holy Spirit, it's weird. I literally thought about this question less than five minutes ago, right, because I didn't have, I didn't have a question, like today, and then it's like that's how I know it's not me, so literally that's. This is a prime example of why I asked this question. That literally just happened. So my brain is blank. I had no question today at all. I've been busting my brain trying to think and literally a full question just came to my head Click of a finger, just like that. I could just, yeah, I didn't have that question in my head. So for me, I feel like when a thought gets placed in my head oh gosh, yeah, when a thought gets placed in my head that I quote unquote feel like it's a thought, that's when I feel like it's the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 2:This is something I have struggled with in my journey with Elohim, because people say, oh, you have to listen to the Holy Spirit and I was like what does that look like? What does that mean? What is like, what are you saying? To me it's like such a foreign language, especially for someone that is new in their journey with Christ. Like, what does that even mean? You know, and then you start to like, feel like I'm not spiritual enough, like what's wrong with me, like I can't hear anything, um, and what I have now learned is that that looks different for everybody and this is what doesn't get explained to you. It's different for each individual how the holy spirit speaks to you, and it might be similar or like you know, to other people, but I feel like you just know when he's speaking to you specifically, um, and it comes in time. You have to build your relationship with elohim to be able to be exposed to that depth of spirituality.
Speaker 2:I'm not saying like we're all holy and then thou here. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying it comes with time, um, because you have to. I guess you have to strip yourself. You strip yourself of self that makes sense and to gain more of God in your heart. And that's how you can, bit by bit, quote unquote hear the Holy Spirit, because it's not always a voice.
Speaker 2:Like mimi said, it could be um, a, it could be a um, someone that comes to you. I love what mimi said. I'm about to steal that from my prayers. I'm gonna be praying right now for elohim to actually send someone to give me the answer that I haven't spoken to in a minute, because I feel like I'd be asking for answers and I am struggling and I don't know whether I'm hearing it or not, and because we know that the devil can also do the same or similar things the way God can you have to be so careful as well that, like am I hearing? Is it God I'm hearing, or is it the devil I'm hearing, or is it God? Like is it? Do you know what I mean? Like is, is this? Is this information that I'm receiving from God or from the enemy? But most times, you know when it's from, you know when it's from Yahweh, because it just you, just like, only he can do. Basically, like you just know when it was his hands, when it's him telling you, like when it's him guiding you, you just know it's him. And like.
Speaker 2:I have that more in my everyday life now where it's like I don't know. Like even when I'm shopping, like I love it, like today I saved 50p on something. I'm gonna sound like nothing to anybody, yeah, but it's like it was just weird how, like I was picking up something. It was, it was 7.49. And then I have this habit of picking up stuff behind. I don't know why. It's just the thing that I do, like I don't pick up stuff in front. But then the wickedest thing is that the one I picked up behind was 50p less, but it's the same item and, like me, looking at what I had left on my card yeah, don't take things from the front like I literally like, let me say for the back, like, and that's what happened, I just picked up the one at the back and then that one happened to be less money and I just feel like I take those as wins.
Speaker 2:I take that as like the holy spirit guiding me. Like, oh, you go, you know you save 50. Do you know what I mean? Like that can go into something else, like I have that with shopping all the time. Or like you know, like I don't know, it's just not that specific thing, but it could just be like I don't know, go to this supermarket or whatever, and then, like I need something and then it's on sale, or I don't know.
Speaker 2:Like I feel like that type of stuff where, like, oh, he says, go this direction or go that direction, to cut my time for something or where I'm going. Yeah, so there's times where I feel like it might not sound like anything to anybody else but for me, because those things bring me peace or it saved me in some way, I feel like that's what Elohim wants to do for us, like he wants to bring us peace every single day of our life and in whatever way he can do, that he does, and I feel like that's what he does with the Holy Spirit. He sends the Holy Spirit to bring those ease and just take that pressure off of the day-to-day duties that can be stressful. Like food shopping is stressful these stressful these days. You know every time you go to the supermarket things cost this, that and the third. You know what I mean. So, like knowing that you can save money here and there. That's peaceful.
Speaker 1:You know you still got some change left in your pocket that you could do something else with, um, but yeah, that's me and you know what I think, growing up like cartoons always showed, like your conscience, as like satan being on one side, and it was never jesus, it was always like an angel being on the other side yeah, like the white angel dressed in white. Yeah and like saying like no, don't do this. And then you got satan saying do this, do this.
Speaker 1:And I think from last I started looking at my conscience as the Holy Spirit, because, like your conscience, or as I call it, the Holy, Spirit will always direct you to do're being delayed, or there's many times that the holy spirit is like, um, I don't know, like, pick up the item because you're gonna forget it. And you're like, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna pick it up after I do this, and then you leave the house, and then you forgot the item in the house, but the holy spirit was telling you like yeah you know we override it.
Speaker 1:It's a little prompting because you think you know better, but it's like no, I know that you're going to forget this. Take, take it now that's a big one.
Speaker 2:Yes, that's a huge. I love that one. That's a great example that happens a lot and then.
Speaker 1:So I've now seen it as my conscience, see it as the holy spirit, because it's always trying to lead me to the correct path. Um, the correct way, like don't go down here, go there. And then like you're battling with yourself, because we battle with self every day, because it's just like why am I, why should I listen to you?
Speaker 1:but many times, like we even question our lord and savior, like I'm not ready yet, lord, or that, even that pastor, like we last sabbath we had a baptism and a lot of the young people came to see their friends and then he was just like why are you guys not? Why are you guys not? You're you're clapping for them, but why are you not in there with them like getting baptized? Like why are you saying that your time is not?
Speaker 1:yet you know not the time nor the hour that he's yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that is the self.
Speaker 1:Yeah, battling with daily it's kind of like, oh, but I still want to have this enjoyment, I still want to do this. Nobody's saying that you're going to be perfect, it's just like you know, you gotta die to self daily. But always battling with ourself daily, like even a reason why I brought up, because yesterday I saw that I had an event and I had two cuticle oils and there was one on the table and there was one on the other side and the holy spirit was like pick up the one on the table and I'm like, but why is there one on the other side?
Speaker 1:so I took the one that was on the other side. By the time I did the fourth person that it was finished, because I never have a cuticle oil in that, in that, in that place. So I think my mum must have picked it up and put it there. I was just like if I only listened, I wouldn't be in this position yeah, yes, yes, exactly.
Speaker 2:And that's what I mean about the things that can like, like God wants to make things easier for us, do you know? I mean like if you'd listened, like like you said, you wouldn't have been in that position. It would have been better for you. Do you know? I mean it's, it's literally that type of thing and like I've been trying to undo this whole um phrasing that I say like, oh, my mind said, or, like you said, my conscious said, or the spirit said, like I've been trying to be very specific and say the holy spirit because, like I had a situation a few weeks ago where, like I went to shopping yes, guys, shopping, I'm all shopping and I went to buy something for my son's room and like that day I was just like, oh, do I really want to spend this money? Because I knew how much it was.
Speaker 2:And then, like there was none in stock, and then I was going to leave, and then, like I felt the Holy Spirit say, just ask a member of staff if it's in stock. And the guy was like, oh, like, ok, yeah, we've got some delivery, but it's still upstairs. But he's like, I'll go check for you. And I was like, oh, I was so grateful for that, because when you go to a store, like people don't want to check nothing for you anymore, so like they're always like, oh, what you see, there is what's left, you know. And the fact that he went out his way to go check for me I was so grateful. So I was like, well, okay, this is the Holy Spirit, I'm going to have to buy it now, right. And then now when I went to scan it now £5 or £7 cheaper, and I was like, look at God's like, this is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2:So it's like if I wasn't obedient and listened and like asked for help and still proceeded to buy an item, they didn't even know themselves that it was on sale. So when I, when they scanned it, I said, oh, my gosh, like good thing, I listened to the Holy Spirit and I said it out loud. And then someone behind me that I didn't know was like amen, yes, like it's good, good to listen to the Holy Spirit. So I was like that was even like a moment of connecting with someone that believed or witnessed or whatever, and that could have done something for that person that day. So it's like just even simply changing my wording and acknowledging that it's the holy spirit as well, can be very powerful.
Speaker 2:And to just to know that in that moment, that even was like witnessing to somebody else. Um, it was, it was really powerful for me. So I always remember that as well, and and that's what that's what it does to, that's what not. When I say it, I don't know what I'm trying to say, but I guess that's what this walk does with you as well. Like all these little things that you you wouldn't pay attention to or you would take for granted, it's more heightened and you appreciate many, many more things, um, in your daily life.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, if you can do me a favor and find Isaiah 30 21 okie dokie and I will read john 6, verses 13. John 6 13 says however, when he, the spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but wherever he has, he will speak and he will tell you things to come okay, isaiah 30, 21, yeah, correct, okay.
Speaker 2:And it says oh gosh, going past it, now let me change my version. Oh gosh, sorry guys, I was under international children's bible version so I didn't have it ready, yeah, my oh, it doesn't have that. No, it does, but I just took it off of it.
Speaker 1:I had it on international children's bible you'll be interested to see what it says children every day, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2:I'm gonna do that. Um, I'm gonna just do um. New King James Version. Right, and it says your eyes shall hear a word behind you. No, sorry, your eyes doesn't make sense, does it? Let's start again. Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying this is the way. Walk in it whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Oh, wow, I really like that.
Speaker 1:What does it say in the children's Bible?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm about to do that right now. Let me see what I would have to read to my baby if I read it. So International Children's Bible bible says oh my gosh, this, this thing seems, it seems very long that that verse, that's 21. Okay, if you go to the wrong way, to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice behind you. It will say this is the right way, you should go this way. That's what it says. That's cute guys.
Speaker 1:There's the Bible text. Guys, listen, listen to the Holy Spirit. Pick up that item. Do not go that way. Do not phone that boy back, do not phone that girl back.
Speaker 2:Walk out of that situation now that part is hard, honey, but you know gotta listen, because we just make it harder for ourselves.
Speaker 1:Oh lord, I feel like this one is for me, boy I don't think, know, like, even if we, even if we move it to health, like you know, like the doctor's like, oh, you need to exercise more because you know, and then we're like yeah, yeah, yeah, and we go home and we're just like scoffing, scoffing, scoffing, like it's true and then you will hear the holy spirit say you know, maybe you should go for a walk.
Speaker 2:And then you look outside you're like, oh, it's cold out there yeah, then tutus, yeah, you start with that cup of tea, the hot chocolate. Then you're like, oh, let's have a biscuit yeah.
Speaker 1:So I think that's it's a very important question. It's a question that I feel like a lot of people are like I had myself but I think people don't explain that the holy spirit is actually not listening to yourself and listening to the voice that you actually don't want to hear um, because if you're praying for something, it might not be the right time, but we are so used to using and I'm not, I'm not.
Speaker 1:I'm not denying the bible text like um gosh. I can't even remember it in terms of like ask, seek, oh gosh, seek ye, first the kingdom of god, and everything will be answered unto you. Yeah, I'm not saying that it doesn't work. What I'm basically saying is sometimes the Lord is saying that it's not your time yet and that's not what we want to hear.
Speaker 1:If you're applying for that job, if you're, if you're like in a house where you don't want to be like whatever situation that sometimes the Lord is saying it's not time yet, but we don't want to be in that situation, because sometimes the Lord will saying it's not time yet, but we don't want to be in that situation, because sometimes the Lord will be like give us what you actually want and we cannot manage it. Like I've been in that position where I've prayed for something, prayed for something, and the Lord is saying it's not your time yet, it's not your time yet, it's not your time yet, and I'm like but no, I'm ready, I'm ready, ready, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready and then I get it and then I'm like whoa I'm, I actually wasn't ready.
Speaker 1:And then we blame God, like why give this?
Speaker 2:to me. I wasn't actually ready.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so it's about sometimes hearing that voice that you don't want to hear, but it's not a negative thing. It's just like he knows that you're not ready. He knows that like you know what you think is best for you is actually not. And he knows us. He, he created us in his image. You know not ours, so he knows us to the best of our ability and he just wants to protect us and save us. And sometimes that's not what we want and that's why sometimes it's hard to listen to the holy spirit yeah, um, that bible text, by the way, about about Sikhi first, is from Luke, chapter 12, verses 31.
Speaker 2:If anyone wants to look that up it's amazing, I hear this quoted all the time, but I'll have it saved. So good to know. Yeah, yeah, listening to the Holy Spirit is a different story. It's not easy. I will tell you that because, just like Mimi said, it's like listening to what you don't actually want to do, like, basically, that's how you know it's the Holy Spirit A lot of the time, and sometimes it can be really strong, and sometimes it can be like a lot of the time. And sometimes it can be really strong, and sometimes it can be like it can be hard because you're fighting against self and it's just like, yeah, I'm going through that literally now as we speak, and it's really really tough because, like, in the long run, it's not God that's going to be affected, it's you, and that's what the disobedience will do and at times you will have to accept the consequences of that decision. Um, unfortunately, um, but just to make it easy on yourself in life, it's just best just to follow. It really is. But, like I said, it's easier said than done. I'm not going to sit here and be like, yeah, like you know you it? No, I'm sorry, because there's times where I don't listen because I don't want to. It's too hard. It seems easier to not listen because it you're taking me out of my comfort zone. Um, it's, it's sometimes, it's that situation, you know.
Speaker 2:But from being brought out of my comfort zone by Elohim, majority of this year, I will say it's more powerful, um, when you do listen, especially when you've been taken out of your comfort zone to do stuff that you would never, ever do. I've done stuff this year that I would never, ever have done ever. And it's been really powerful because you're like, wow, like this is amazing, who's this person? This is like look at this change, look at you know. You're like, oh, this is really good.
Speaker 2:Um, and you see why Elohim wanted to do this in your life and you see, you see where he's trying to take you to. But if you keep praying and asking him to take you to another level in your relationship with him or to take you, to take you away from whatever it is, and you're not actually being obedient to the voice, you cannot move out of that place until you start to listen. Yeah, simple, you're just going to stay stuck. And when you're wondering why you're stuck, it's because you're not being obedient, you're not listening to the Holy Spirit, simply as that. And when you start listening, you'll see those changes um happen in your life.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh yeah I'm trying to think. I think it was even david. Um, was it David? I'm so I'm the worst person with Bible names, but there was a character and he started turning away from the Lord, that the Holy Spirit left him. He wasn't hearing from God anymore.
Speaker 2:I don't think that was him oh, who was it? I don't know. My brain is is thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, but yeah, there was a character, let's just leave him with that um, and he was a.
Speaker 1:He was a man of god, but then he. But then he chose to just do self and you know, when you're doing self like you're just following Satan and he didn't want to live that life no more, and he started calling out to the Father, but the Father was gone. You know that he had to, like pray and fast to get that, and we don't want to be in a place where, especially in the times that we're living in right now, we don't want to be in a place where the holy, where we can't hear the holy spirit anymore, that all we're hearing is just do badness, you know do this, do that, don't care for this one, don't care for that one and I'm gonna say this with chest, because I'm speaking to myself when I say it.
Speaker 1:So this is this is yeah, this is mainly for me, but if it, if it reaches out to you, amen. It's amazing when the Holy Spirit says to still be kind and help people who hurt you. That's when you know the Spirit is still with you. The one life I do not want to do this like why am I doing? This. Why do you keep on me with this person?
Speaker 2:position, didn't you see?
Speaker 1:yeah, that's the holy spirit talking honey like when you're like why is my mind thinking these things?
Speaker 2:it's the holy spirit yeah, prime example, that's a huge example. I feel like that's number one right there. That's number one where the holy spirit speaking telling you to be kind, and you don't want to be, you just don't. You're like no, I don't want to do that, like look how much I've been through, just why me choose somebody else. Like you don't want it everyone's. Yeah, yeah, that's huge, that is number one right there.
Speaker 1:Yep, but the bible also says he will never leave us nor forsake us, forsake us.
Speaker 2:Yes, that's it guys.
Speaker 1:I'm sick my brain, I'm struggling my muscles. I'm losing it today, but he will never leave us, nor forsake us. A narrow path is not easy. This is why we've done the unfiltered Christian podcast, because we're not saints, even though I say hi, saints, yeah, like well, everybody's sinning. Um, our goal is to try and be as good as we can be, um, but we still make wrong decisions. But it's amazing that we serve an amazing father who, even though we do wrong, we can pray to him and ask for forgiveness and he forgives us, and we can retry, because nothing happens overnight and that's the main thing you know you practice till you make it perfect.
Speaker 2:Amen thing. You know you practice till you make it perfect. Amen, definitely true, definitely true. So my brain is just like imagine I asked the question and it's just got me thinking, got me reflecting on life. Oh my god, this question was clearly not just for you. Um, that's what I love about this podcast, because it's like you can ask the question yourself and you would have not thought about the answer like, yes, I have a bit, but the more that we talk about it, the more it's like revealing more to me, and I just think that's really powerful as well.
Speaker 2:Um, indoors yeah, some doors I don't want to be opened, but yeah, I would, I have to take it. You know, you don't reject, you don't reject what elohim is saying, you just don't. But he is, he is really faithful. I was thinking about that this week, about how, like I feel, like I prayed to him and I'm listening, but I'm not listening and he's so patient because I'm struggling, and it's like his patience is just beyond me sometimes of just, you know. So don't beat yourself up as well if you just feel like you're not, you're not hearing the holy spirit and you're not listening, like it all comes with time, because the one amazing thing about our god is that when you're going through these processes, once you get to the end of whatever that is, um, you won't be going back, you know, yeah. So sometimes you need to go through that process of letting go bit by bit to get to the point where, okay, this is done, I'm at the end, because you don't want to actually go back, because, like, sometimes I feel like when you just say like, yeah, I'm done, click of a finger, do you know? I mean like with any addiction you have to anything like you revert so much quicker because you haven't been through the process of shedding it bit by bit, and it's like sometimes that's just what it is. You just need to.
Speaker 2:And you just keep talking to him, saying, look, like I hear you telling me to do this. I'm struggling like I don't know how to. I don't want to like that. You know you be honest and it will help you to share that, because he already knows how you feel. He knows your heart, he made you and, like you just need to be open and just just tell the truth, because I don't know who you think you're like. I don't know who we think we're lying to like sometimes I'm just like lord. Who do I think I'm lying to? Like for real, like come on now, like you already know how I feel and it's just for me to say out loud and just get it out and just be like plain and simple. I don't want to do this, and if this is what you want me to do, you need to help me. I can't do it in myself. So work, honey, move me, move my arms, move my legs. Whatever you need to do to get me to do what you want me to do, just do it. I give you permission, but I myself don't feel like it. So, please, like I've been having those type of conversations because our God is a realist and all that fake business you'd be trying to do, like when everybody thinks that you know you have to be so this and so that, like I had a friend that said to me, like the reason why I don't want to go to church is because I know I still smoke and do certain things. I'm like he already knows that about you.
Speaker 2:Walk into the building. How many people that walked into the same church used to smoke or whatever you think it just became who they are just through, like, just just like that, and then walked into church. No, as I said, well, you're still welcome to come to church with me if you want, because don't think that all of us walking in there every week, the only reason why we're there every week, is because we're coming to shed whatever we've done that week. You know we're. We're coming to like confess, like lord, you know, you know, you know I was not doing right this week. You know, like you just go there and you know you're amongst other people who's also been through the same struggle.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I feel like I've gone into a whole different episode here, but it just you know, when you're hearing once again, if you're hearing the Holy Spirit speaking to you saying go to church this week, like your friends invited, you just just go. Because a lot of testimonies I've heard is like someone's walked into church and they've heard a message strictly for them. There could be a message being preached this weekend right at church that is for you and you haven't gone through that invite of whoever it was right and you've missed out on what the holy spirit have to say to you. Do you know? I mean, like there's a lot of testimonies like that where people have gone to church and they're like, oh my gosh, like the pastor was speaking to me, like I just heard it and I I broke down and I shedded my tears and I did all these things. Holy spirit, that's what that is.
Speaker 1:And that's normally when it's important. Because I think there are times because even sometimes since COVID I'm not going to lie I've become lazy and there's times where I'm like, oh, I want to actually go into the building and then, like, my sciatica will start playing up or all of these things, but I hear the Holy Spirit saying like, still go, like, still go, still go, still go, and I'm hearing all these other things like, ah, but then you gotta go to the car, oh, you gotta find parking ah this, ah that, and then yeah, when I push through all of that noise and I go, wow, it may not be like the sermon, it could be even a song.
Speaker 1:The way how that person's singing just touches yeah, the week that you've had, it's true or the month that you've had, or you might bump into somebody that know, somebody that could help you with your situation, or yeah give you that, that there's just something so many different things, yeah and then satan is just literally like no, no, no, we don't want you to get that.
Speaker 1:That's the holy spirit saying go. But I'm just saying that, yeah, you're not the only one. Even us we go through it. We have those times where, whatever we're going through, like pain comes. Like we're women, we like when are we not feeling pain? But um, or hormonal? I'm not saying that make them get pain. I'm not saying that I mean guys out there, but I'm just saying it's just get pain.
Speaker 1:I'm not saying that I mean guys out there, but I'm just saying it's just no, we're talking about the stuff we go through monthly honey yeah we all go through something, um, whatever that may be, like some, some, some people are parents that are listening, like your child could be having you up all night and it's just like, oh, actually I don't want to do this or go there because that's my mom. Sorry guys, um like um, she made me lose my train of thought, but yeah like yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:Some of us may have kids.
Speaker 1:Mom, they're having us up all night and there might be a word or something that you could get from that person, but the whole spirit's like, oh you're tired, like just let's just stay there, but then that your child might get a break, you might get a break from work wherever you're going. It doesn't necessarily have to mean church. Do you know what I mean? Like we're all going through certain stuff.
Speaker 1:Like you can have a hectic week at work and you think I just want to stay inside. But then you know, or because I don't, I might not be able to rest, but there's always something where you can learn from somebody else true preach, sister and I'm talking to myself. While I'm talking to you guys, it's not just. It's not just me, it's true yeah, true, I agree.
Speaker 2:Yeah, a lot of stuff I've said today, guys, I'm talking about my own experiences or to myself. Like, definitely we're not. We're not just speaking to you guys, like a lot of the time when we're speaking, trust me, it's to ourselves. Um, and I completely agree with that. Like I mean, like you said, it doesn't have to just be church.
Speaker 2:Like I remember times where it was sabbath and this was like covid time-ish, like when it was kind of still church but like it couldn't be packed or whatever I don't know. Like we were going to church but we weren't going to church and um, well, I lived far away from church at that time so I couldn't get to church. And I remember that sabbath I was having such a rough Sabbath, like it was so emotionally draining, and then I just remembered saying to Mimi, like can I come over? Because, like I just needed, I was just so stressed, like I needed to be out of my space and I mentally just couldn't, I just wasn't coping that day, I'll be honest.
Speaker 2:And like I went there, I went to her house and it's like because it was just a completely different environment and like I didn't have to deal with my son like he was, you know he was with his godmother, you know he was with his auntie, and like it was good for me, like I just had that moment and I think I did that more than once and I don't know if that's the same time that, um, you ran me a bath. Which, guys, if you know me, I can't stand baths. Like I'm not. Like I'm not saying I don't bath, I'm saying I don't like baths in general.
Speaker 1:She don't wash her legs.
Speaker 2:It's one of them ones. I'm a shower person, I'm not a bath person. So like she ran me a bath without me knowing and like because I struggle with relaxing to this day I struggle to relax and like I needed that, like it was so powerful, like where I think my son was a baby at that time and she took him from me and she's just like, okay, you're gonna go have a bath now. And I'm like what? No? And it's like as hard as it was to sit there and relax. It helped me so much. But like, once again, holy Spirit, if I didn't listen to the Holy Spirit to go to our house that day to get that break, I wouldn't have gotten the break that I got. And a lot of the time I go to church every week, right, a lot of time I don't. I'm not even hearing the sermon. Don't get twisted. Like sometimes I could be sitting there, I could be zoning out of the sermon, but because I went for fellowship, like someone gave me a hug that day, or like my son sat with somebody else for the whole of the service, I can hear the the um, the word or it could be anything, and I and sometimes I am tired, don't get it twisted. I'm exhausted. Like when people see me smiling they're thinking, oh yeah, you know, just got. No, a lot of reasons why I did not go to church is because of it, because of exhaustion, like I couldn't do it. But now I feel uncomfortable staying at home. I would definitely not listen to anything. I won't gain anything at home, basically, except sleep. That's the only thing that will happen. I'll just sleep because I don't even hear the sermon at home. I'll be there knocking out or on my phone phone or doing silly things, whereas, like, if I go into his house, I gain so much more, like I said, like someone took time with my son or like I had a. It might not be like I said the sermon, but I might have like a spiritual conversation with somebody. You know, that was powerful, that affected me and I'm like, oh, you know, this was good, like that kind of thing. Um, and even now I go to church to like help on one of my friends, like she, you know, is that with her children all week, and it's like now I like going to church to support her because that's her one day that she has where, like, everyone would take charge of her children and she just has a bit of a break. So, like that sometimes is my reason, you know, to go into church and that is my way of um, what is the word that we would say?
Speaker 2:Um, giving back, yeah, giving back. I was gonna say ministering, but that's not what it is. Yeah, do you know? I mean, and yeah, it's, it's just like, it's just one all these stories that we're telling you is linked to listening to the holy spirit. Very simply, like that's it. Not listening to the holy spirit, you will not gain all these things, and that's why I think I have so much to give or say right now, as we're speaking, because of listening to the holy spirit. That's why I'm able to just tell you guys, so much I think we both are, that's why we both are able to do that. But we're still on our journey and, trust me, there's still a lot of fighting to do. But we're going to make it. We're going to make it, guys, together. We're in it together. We're going to make it. We sure are so.
Speaker 1:Yes, we sure are so, yes, well, I think that is me and I gave my two pence because my brain, my head, is beginning to hurt due to my cold literally.
Speaker 2:So, guys, thank you so much for listening once again to this episode. We pray that you are blessed. I'm going to say a short prayer, actually, seeing that we're praying, not praying, seeing that we're talking about a subject that's so powerful, so let's pray. Dear gracious and wonderful Father, we just want to give you praise and thanksgiving, lord, for this brand new day of life. Thank you so much for placing this question, um, on my heart.
Speaker 2:Um, so, so, randomly, but nothing is random to you, I just couldn't think of another word, but you know like, you placed it in in such a timely manner and, um, it's clearly a question that's needed for me, it's needed for Mimi and it's needed for others.
Speaker 2:And so, father lord, I'm just praying, lord, that it blesses, um, this episode blesses someone that's in need of this answer, that's in need of an answer towards anything. And I pray, father lord, for all those who are listening right now, that you may place the holy spirit within their hearts, within them surrounding, so they're able to feel and receive what the Holy Spirit has in store for them, guide them, help them to listen, help them to be obedient and, wherever they are struggling with obedience, lord, father, god, support them, meet them at their point of need. Thank you so much, father Lord in heaven, for your grace and your mercies and your continuous love, your continuous care, your continuous guidance, father Lord, allowing whoever needs to hear it to hear it, father lord, and allowing us to share it with whoever it needs to be shared with. Thank you once again for your time and we just pray. There's anything in us, within us, stopping this person reaching you. Might please be removed in your blessed son's name, jesus christ, as we pray, amen.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen. See you in two weeks time.
Speaker 2:See you guys.
