Freed from sin

Here's what the Bible teaches. Where sin takes place, somebody has to pay the price. And if that person never accepts Christ as their personal savior, they're going to go to hell and pay for it forever. And it'll never be sufficient, so they'll never get out. It'll never satisfy the holiness of God. But if we accept Christ as our personal Savior, sin is also paid for, and we're there when it happened, by faith and by trust. For God said, when you accept me as personal Savior and Lord, then God reckons it. God says, It is so that you died with Christ on the cross. Therefore the price of sin was paid for, although not by us, by Christ, but we were in Christ. We get the benefits without actually doing it, because we're in Him. And then we rise in newness of life, so that the penalty of sin no longer has any power or control over us. However, we still live in a world where there's the power and the presence of sin. And Paul goes on to teach how that when you recognize what you have in Christ positionally, that's the position you're in, then you can possess that by doing certain things and saying no to yourself and denying yourself and taking up your cross and saying yes to him. You want abundant life, then you gotta die. Unless a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone. But if it dies, it'll bring forth. You gotta die. Nobody wants to hear this message. Certainly not on Christian television, where everything seems to be or most things. How to use God either by bribing him with money or positive thinking or self-esteem, how to bribe God to make you what you want to be. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. God's the boss. Kyrgios, the owner and the Lord, he's the boss. And we've got to die. You don't like the prospect? Well, let me tell you it's glorious. It's wonderful. If you were at an actual funeral, and the body was lying there in the casket for everybody to see, and the air conditioning broke down in the funeral home, it may disturb everybody else, but there's one person it's not going to disturb. That's the fellow lying in the casket. If the stock market goes through the floor, it's not going to disturb him. Whether it's raining outside or snowing or cold or warm or whatever, it's not going to affect him. He's dead. Therefore, he's dead to all those things. I want you to know, Paul said, that when you get to the point of full surrender in God, you become dead to these things. That is, you're declared victorious over those things. And then Paul goes on to teach us how to actualize that kind of victory. But it doesn't start until you're dead. You've died to yourself, you've died to sin. And then it says here, for he that is dead is freed from sin.
