He said you are partakers of the heavenly calling. What are you talking about, the heavenly calling? Oh, they thought about the Jewish people. This is not a put-down. I was raised to love the Jews and I do. But they were taught to believe the blessing of God made you materially wealthy, and that was about the end of the story. In fact, you go back to the Old Testament, it's all about that. God said, I will bless you in the land, I will bless you in Canaan, I will bless your fields, I will bless your crops. And God wants to do those things for us today, but Paul is saying here, you've got your gut to get your mind off the material, and you've got to get it on the spiritual. Seek God first, and he will bless you materially, but don't go after the material because it doesn't work that way. That's the cart before the horse. Don't do it that way. He said, I'm telling you about something that you're shocked at. You thought it was only the high priest that could go into the holiest of all and have an understanding and a relationship with God. You've got a heavenly calling. You see, they were they they were thrilled to be in the land. He said, I want you to be in the Lord. They were thrilled to be in Canaan. He wanted them to be in Christ. He wanted them to become spiritual in their attitude and their motivation. And you know, friends, it is good, it is good, it is great when God blesses the socks off you materially. I used to hear many years ago, used to hear in Ireland a lot, oh, you know, money's not everything. And I used to hear people saying, I know such and such a person who's got a lot of money and he's not happy. And I my reply always was, well, I know a lot of people who haven't got money and they're not happy either. That's that that that's that's kind of a foolish way to look at it. Let's look at it this way: It says, money answereth all things, answereth all things. Money can be a real blessing. But if it's an end in itself, you've missed the mark. Either leaving God out, or as the TV preachers teach you, even by using God to forward your wealth. You don't do that. You get taken up totally with your heavenly calling. What does God want for me? Not what I want. Forget what you want. I wanted to be a soccer player. I had to bury that years ago. Forget what you want, forget what you want, and you want, and you want, and you want, and you want. What do you want? What is my heavenly calling? I wanted to be a center half or a left half, and I was. I wanted to score goals, and I did. And then he came along, and the whole thing became as dumb. It became as loss unto me. And I wanted what is my heavenly calling? It was to be a part of the kingdom, it was to be a domato, I didn't know it all then. It was to open this book and try to be a blessing to people, it was to live by the old song that Ella and my sister used to play on the piano. If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.
