You are accepted in Christ

I've given so many times, I'm always driven back to it. You're at your home one night and somebody knocks on the door, you open the door, and here stands a young woman, obviously largely pregnant, and you know her. And you're about to say come in, and then you say, No, hold it. Say, you're welcome to come in, but but not the baby that you're carrying, because we know you, but after all, we don't even know this baby. Never met, so so you can come in, but your baby can't. What's the girl going to say? Going to say, that's impossible. Why is it impossible? Because the baby's inside me. But didn't he make you weep? Although it's just a little illustration. The baby's inside me, and therefore, if I am accepted, then my baby was going to be accepted with the same acceptance that I'm accepted with because the baby's in me. We are accepted in the beloved. We're accepted in the beloved. We're in Christ. And when Christ is accepted by the Father, have you any doubt about that? Is Christ accepted by the Father? Do you think the Father is second thoughts about Jesus? Do you think the Father says, uh-huh, I'm not so sure. I hate to even say that. It's so, it would appear to border on blasphemy. You're accepted if you're trusting with the same acceptance. Why? Because you're in Christ. It's magnificent, and I'm going to praise him again for it. It's magnificent. That is the gospel. Well, then what do you do? Well, after you're saved, you grow in grace. And you do good works and you praise the Lord, but you're never held over a barrel by the devil that somehow or other your works determine your salvation. Christ determines your salvation on Calvary. What do works do? That helps to forward the kingdom. And God said they're important, and one day there will be rewards or lack of rewards relating to works, but it has nothing to do with your salvation and your righteousness. Why, that takes us back to the tabernacle in the wilderness. When you go in there through that front door, this is on the east side, and that represents Christ. And you go to where the flame is there, and you go to that brazen altar, and there, what happens there? Well, you know there's a cleansing there. That's when the animal was sacrificed. That speaks of Calvary. That's the cleansing of the blood. Then you go to the next one, which is the labor. What's that for? Another cleansing? Do we need another cleansing? Yes. What's that cleansing for? That's a different kind of cleansing. The one gets you saved, that's the blood of Christ. That's by trust. The other one is you wash your hands and your feet. Why? Because we're walking through a dirty world. And we walk in the light as he is in the light. And how what is that cleansing? That is the cleansing of his word. In fact, Paul actually says it's the washing of the water by the word. It's the word. So the word has a cleansing effect. But what saves us is the sacrifice of Jesus plus nothing.
