The purpose of praise, of course, and obviously is to glorify God. Number two, the power is in the fantastic benefits we reap as we learn every day to seriously and lovingly praise our wonderful Lord. Let me ask you this question. You see when it says, Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, do you obey that? Why, sure you do. Well, do you know that's only in the Bible a few times? To praise the Lord's in a multitude of times. It's not a suggestion, it's a command. It's the missing ingredient. I've said it for weeks. Do you know part of the reason why we don't steal and kill and lie and so forth? Not just because it's wrong, but because society, through their courts and the police and so forth, they put such restraints upon us that there's dire consequences if you're caught, for example, stealing or killing or whatever. But when it comes to praising God, society couldn't care less. Therefore, you've got to put the discipline on yourself and discipline yourself to praise God. In fact, the world would rather you wouldn't praise the Lord. So there's no discipline from there. But we praise God because we know we ought to praise God and we're commanded to do it. It's the missing ingredient. There is no such thing as a stronghold continuing to be a stronghold in the face of consistent praising God. That's the teaching from Joshua and from Paul. Remember what David said, it says here in Psalm 145, verses 1 and 2. I will extol thee, my God. My God, Elohim is the word, my great creator in the sky. I'm going to extol thee. And then he says, O king, the word is Melech. That is the one who has the last word. And I will bless thy name forever and ever. Now listen to this. This is big stuff. Psalm 145, verse 2. Every day, every day, every day, every day, every day. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, January, February, March, April, May, June, every day, every day, every day will I bless thee, and I will praise thy name forever and forever. Now we're going to do it up there with the Lord one day, but wait a minute. We're supposed to do it down here as well, even when we're in the night season. And by nighttime, I'm not talking about literal night, and it's all right to do it then too. But we're talking about a nighttime circumstantially. The purpose of praise, of course, and obviously is to glorify God.
