Welcome back to Project 20!  Week 12 is in the books, and it was a tough one. This week included a time trial, and things didn’t go as planned. Despite preparing well and feeling ready, sometimes optimal performance just doesn’t come on demand.

The goal was a 20:19 finish, but I struggled to hold pace. It was hotter than usual, which might have been a factor. After some reflection, we’ve decided to adjust the programming, adding an extra speed session to help push through. Eight weeks to go, and I’m still optimistic about reaching that sub-20 goal!

Week 12. Week 12 of my 20 week program to get to under 20 minutes at Parkrun. And, the week that's just gone by, I usually do these on a Sunday. It's Monday now. I needed another day to ponder it. Cause yes, I had time trial. Like every four weeks, it looks like we test and see how I'm going And time trial was, Saturday and it didn't go to plan, it didn't go to plan. And not for any reason that just, you can't, I guess I, I, I spent the day yesterday pondering that and you just can't turn on optimal at will sometimes. you can prepare for it, you can plan for it, and then just sometimes it doesn't happen. Even, I wear a, I wear a whoop. and it tells me, you know, it's got, it's got the big black battery on it, but anyhow, I wear a whoop, and even it said that I was, recovery, you know, I was at peak performance, slept well, anyhow, just didn't come together. The plan was to do 20 19, 20 minutes, 19 seconds on Saturday, that's a 4 0 4 pace. First kilometre 403, second kilometre 404, and then just like 417 or something. I just, it fell apart. I couldn't hold it. it was, much hotter on Saturday than normal. I wouldn't have thought that would bother me, but who knows. Anyhow, plan didn't come together that day. So that's, that's where we're at. I did get new shoes to make myself feel better. I went to Asics. Asics have opened a new shop at, Chermside. Anyhow, we've rejigged the programming. We're going to, Do more stuff, an extra speed session. stuff like that. Eight weeks to go. yeah, I think it's still all good. It's just, it didn't go to plan on Saturday and I'm not sure it's for any other reason that just some days it doesn't come together. We can't all be, what was it, the A team? I love it when a plan comes together. No A team on, Saturday. And yeah, that's week 12 update. See ya.
