Project 20 - Week 17 Update | COVID Strikes Mid-Training

Adam Leishman Season 1 Episode 17

Welcome back to Project 20!  Week 17 update is a bit different because, for the first time ever, I got COVID.  I’ve never knowingly had it before, and it hit just as I was getting back into training after a few recovery days in Hobart. Tuesday’s speed session was a struggle, and by the end of the day, I tested positive for COVID.

Training has been affected, and I’m not sure what this means for the final weeks of the program. I might need to adjust the timeline, but we’ll see how things go over the next few days.

Speaker:

Well week 18 update is a little different because for the first time ever that I'm aware of and I think I would know now I know how I'm affected by it, but that I got COVID. I got COVID. I'm, I, I don't believe I've had COVID before. And yeah, so I, I, I, training's a little bit different this week, I, plus I went to Hobart which wasn't a problem, it was sort of standard recovery days in Hobart, and then back into it, and I, I just, I woke up Tuesday morning feeling a little bit off. But not just like I've also been away for three days. So you just feel a little sluggish. And the first kilometre, it was one kilometre repeats on Tuesday morning. And the first kilometre coach said, let's do 358 pace. And we did that. And I thought, Oh, that felt tough. But you know, Tuesday, just back from holidays. And and, and, and during the, I took off for the second kilometre and the body was like, Oh, that. No, we're not. So I was a bit of a, the rest, the rest of it was just my body saying something's not right. And I went to work and I thought, Oh, well, I've got the flu maybe. But I started, you know, when you, it starts unfolding for you rapidly and I started deteriorating and I went home and I thought, Oh, I'll do one of these tests that's got the influenza section in it because I've probably got the flu and it came up with COVID and I'm like, I, I, I forgot, I don't even, I forgot all about that COVID thing. So I have COVID for the first time ever and I'm about to go out very very alone around my local, local home circuit for the first time ever knowingly having COVID for a run. So. Don't worry, no one runs around here. So I have Covid and it's week 18 only. I would get Covid in week 18 of a 20 week running program, but there we have it. So I dunno what that means. This might be a 24 hour, 48 hour thing. Who, who knows? So, I dunno what that means. Maybe we are gonna have to,'cause I think everything was gonna matter at the moment with training every training session in the last. Since the last time trial was gonna, you know, matter and count, so maybe I've got to push the date back, but yeah, it's, we'll just, we'll see, we'll see, we'll see how long this sort of upsets the apple cart. Actually I haven't been to today's run yet, so I might have fresh data in about 50 minutes. Week 18 update!
