Project 20 - chasing the sub 20 5k parkrun

Project 20 - Weekly Update | Stiff, Sore, and Sorry (But New Shoes!)

Adam Leishman Season 1 Episode 26

Welcome back to Project 20!  This week was tough—stiff, sore, and mentally drained. The speed session went well, but by the long run, everything felt slow and painful. Friday’s planned session didn’t happen, and I pushed it to Saturday, only to find out that my “rage fuel” ran out before the first kilometre.

Breaking from the program for the first time was hard to accept, but after nearly 30 weeks, it’s a reminder to respect the process. On the bright side, I got new daily runners! Not faster yet, but there’s always next week.

Speaker:

Stiff, Sore and Sorry. And shoes. I've got new shoes. Stiff and Sore, just, by the time I got to the long run this week, the speed session went well, and then strength session, and then by the time I got to the long run, it was just, it was slow and painful, and by the time, so by the time I got to Friday's, I couldn't bring myself to do the Fridays, which was a bit of a version of, two on at pace, two off at zone two, two back on at pace for the 5k. And I just mentally couldn't do it. It was a physically and mentally big week and I just couldn't do it. And so I pushed it to the Saturday and I thought I would just try and everything that was going on in the week, including, being stiff and sore. I thought I'd just, I'll just try and use rage or something to fuel that run. Apparently my rage ran out before I got to the first kilometer. And so I was just stiff and sore again then after that. So why the sorry? Sorry that I broke from programming. I went with coach Carl because he is quite. Particular about his programming and I needed that. I'm one of those people that if I'm, you can't approach things wishy washy and I didn't want a coach that would be easily able to, Be persuaded that I don't want to do this week. So this is the first week where I just, it was a real struggle to go. I'm not, I can't, I'm not doing that. I'm not doing the program. I'm glad it's 28 weeks in or 26 weeks or whatever it is. Cause that's, I feel like I disrespected the program, not the coach. If I'd done it in week two, then you're just disrespecting the coach. But I've done, almost 30 weeks of programming. I feel like that All I did was probably just, disrespect the program. Did teach me not to do that though. So there's that. New shoes! I've got new shoes. These are my daily runners. They're it's not a political statement. They're not teal. Just, other ones were like white or black. And I went to the coffee shop. My favorite coffee shop told you and he selled the memes. He knew to archive. If I ran faster in my new shoes. I didn't this week. Anyhow, stiff sorry and sore. I'm gonna go sit in a magnesium plunge pool and see if we can't fix some of that. Anyhow, that's my weekly update.
