Your phone rings. The caller says they’re with the sheriff’s department and they can get your loved one out of jail today, no bond needed, just send money through Cash App. That’s the kind of moment scammers count on, and we’re not letting it slide. We break down the exact red flags we’re hearing again and again, why these fraud attempts sound so believable, and the simple steps that can save you thousands: hang up, call the jail directly, and verify everything.

From there we zoom out to the bigger theme running through our world right now: tracking. We talk about Flock-style license plate reader cameras, what “public safety” looks like when every drive-by becomes data, and why “we delete it in 30 days” doesn’t feel reassuring if nobody can truly audit the system. We also get into AI, from the fear of AI building profiles based on behavior to the everyday reality of AI search, AI marketing, and AI phone agents. Some of it is genuinely useful, but we’re honest about where it breaks down, especially in high-stakes work where people need calm, clarity, and a real human voice.

Then we tell a story from the bail bond side that brings it all home: big bonds, bond reductions tied to ankle monitors, how GPS monitoring helps and how it fails, and a wild case involving a “preacher” and alleged fraud that eventually draws interest from the FBI. If you care about privacy, scams, bail bonds, electronic monitoring, or how AI is changing trust in everyday life, you’ll get a lot out of this one. Subscribe, share this with a friend who might get that scam call, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

Quick Catch Up And Heat Talk

SPEAKER_01

Very funny, people are tight.

SPEAKER_00

It's a real story, but the names have been cleaned.

SPEAKER_01

What's going on, guys? Rob here. Oh, wait. Go ahead. Chad over here. Yeah, sorry about that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm here. Sorry, I muted him. That's all right, man. I was having some coffee.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, that's all right. Man, I tell you what. Um, it's been hot. I don't know about you, Chad, but I've been trying to stay inside.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man. Pretty hot. But uh yeah, man, it's uh I think well we had a break past couple days. A little a little bit. We had a little bit of rain, which we needed desperately.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, dude. Yeah. Absolutely. Yesterday wasn't bad. Wasn't bad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, my yard just shot up like overnight almost from all the rain.

SPEAKER_01

Well,

Flock Cameras And Privacy Concerns

SPEAKER_01

did you see um did you see over the weekend the uh the ad uh talking about uh the flock cameras?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I've been seeing a little bit about the flock cameras that have been popping up in news feeds and stuff about it. I don't know, man, how I feel about it. Some people think that they're an invasion of uh privacy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

These are the cameras that read your license plates, supposedly. And they're supposedly they're putting them in heavily trafficked areas for public safety um and anything crime related helps them. They supposedly have uh solved some uh some crimes, some crimes with all right.

SPEAKER_01

So uh here I'm gonna play devil's advocate. That's fine, that's fine. Um I don't mind them using cameras to be like, like especially downtown, because we're having a lot of shootings and stabbings here. And that's cool and all, you know, having them cameras for that. Yeah, but they're taking information from license plates, you know, and you're not even done anything. So why, you know, they're they're taking this information. Where's it going? They're saying they're deleting it, but how do you know?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they say after 30 days they delete it unless there's the need to hold on to something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know, man. I don't, I don't, I I'm I I get it. I I I don't like Big Brother. I do, but I don't, you know.

SPEAKER_02

You know,

AI Profiles And Predicting Behavior

SPEAKER_02

uh Turney and I had a interesting conversation about AI and kind of like this technology.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

And uh his take on it, he he brought up a really interesting thing was um um Tom, if you're listening, I don't know if you are, but anyway, um it was about um how AI can search back through everything that you've ever done once it has enough information about you, like receipts, like places you've been, right? Everything to the point to where it could determine a percentage of you based on your personality, your everything about you, how likely are you are to prevent to to commit a crime commit a certain type of. It sounds like that damn movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was that was a movie if you're referring to the one with um Christopher Pratt.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. What was that? Is that his name? Chris Pratt. Yeah, Chris Pratt, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so like he had like so much time to to prove his innocent that he did not kill his wife.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I'm not a big fan of AI keeping track of me or anybody, really, honestly.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't think it's it's uh it's yeah, I mean, you can't put all your faith into it. I mean, it it gets some things wrong, um, simple things. Yeah, it gets wrong. So I think it's a tool, but you know, it's not it's not beat all, like it's not end all every, you know, everything. So no.

SPEAKER_01

But

AI Marketing And Phone Answering Bots

SPEAKER_01

anyway, um like seeing like all right, so another thing about AI is I I'm seeing a lot of these advertisements on my social media about hey, we'll advertise AI. It's we do it through AI. I'm like, how are you doing this and attracting leads from AI?

SPEAKER_02

All the all the well, all your search criteria on Google is going to AI search results based on things on your site. I'm learning all about that and trying to keep ahead of the game on that. Um, just met with a friend of mine that's a web developer that we're gonna talk that talk about this. He's got some really good insight. Uh, stuff like an AI secretary uh for you to answer your calls.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't I don't like that.

SPEAKER_02

And yeah, you've had it, you probably encountered it on some of your calls. I did this morning, as a matter of fact, when I called um company about my shirts.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And uh that was an AI generated uh really yeah, yeah, it chopped me back. I emailed it and it emailed me based on what I it was emailing about, a a whole list of things to do to correct the problem. That was kind of cool. If it works, I'm still trying to figure it out.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not see it's not exact like there's there's a point to where AI is going, it works, but there's a point to where, like, all right, you gotta stop it, you know, get on a personal level. Like for me, if I'm looking for something, right? And say I'm looking for bail bonding, right? Say I'm looking for bail bonding. I don't want to talk to an AI person. I'm in, I'm in some, like I'm yeah, I'm gonna bond somebody out, loved one, whatever. And I want to be able to talk to somebody.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I had that yeah, that with that web developer. He's trying to tell me all about that. I'm like, man, that's really cool for another industry. I'm sure it's very cool. People call us because they need something now, immediately.

SPEAKER_01

But then again, even like, all right, so my tree service. I don't people want to talk to folks, they don't want to talk to AI because it they feel like what the hell is like is this real or not? Right. Well it's new, yeah, and people don't understand it, and hell, I don't understand half of it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, I get it. So it's it's weird, like, like I'm not saying for it to replace a person talking, but it could answer some questions that people may have, especially in our industry, which but that personal relationship goes a long way.

SPEAKER_01

And you know it, because I mean you talk to you talk to everybody that we get phone calls from.

Bail Bond Scam Calls And Red Flags

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we just got a call this morning from a lady that we're gonna be doing a bond for her daughter, and like, you know, she actually almost got scammed that that we had another podcast about. Yeah, that is going around rampantly. I'm hearing I'm literally everybody I talk to now, I'm asking them, did you get called by someone who pretended to be either a bondsman or a police officer telling you they could get your person out of jail?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so if this is your first time listening to us, do not it's do not give money to somebody.

SPEAKER_02

They are on it. As soon as a person gets in jail, these scammers are looking up, I don't know how, I mean, where their resources are, but they're finding the next to kin and they're calling them and saying that they're with the police department and they're they can get them out for you without a bond, put a monitor on them, and you'll get the money back when they complete the case. Well, guess what? Once they get your money, because they get down to using a uh Cash App or uh Apple Pay or one of them apps.

SPEAKER_01

Don't you think the FBI should be looking into these?

SPEAKER_02

I really do, man, because I mean that's a lot of people in our little area of the world, man. I know people are getting scammed big time. I mean, we just did one for a guy that made two grand and still had to get his kid out of jail.

SPEAKER_01

And that was more than what the bond was.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, yeah, so uh do not pay somebody Apple Pay or Venmo Cash App that you've never met, that you have no idea what's going on, especially a sheriff's department. Sheriff's department will never call and ask you for money. Absolutely not, unless you're like donating.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean a donation, but I mean they're not gonna say you can get somebody out of jail over the phone or through an app. That's not happening.

SPEAKER_01

Nope.

SPEAKER_02

So don't believe it.

SPEAKER_01

Um I I just can't I just can't believe this is still going on and no, and it's not been brought up any anymore anywhere else.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know. It's it's amazing to me because every day I hear it.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so here it conspiracy time. Conspiracy time. Do you think people on the left, far, far left, are trying to do this to say, hey, look, see, Bell Bombins are scammers, you know?

SPEAKER_02

You see what I'm saying? Yeah, I see where you're going with that. Um it sounds like something stupid some group might try.

SPEAKER_01

Right. But I mean, I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_02

They're but I mean, uh, but when they get to the part where pay with a app, that should be your red flag should go up big time when you get to that.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

You know. But I guess people want convenience. They're also in a moment of uh you know dire need to get something done immediately. Right. So they're willing to believe it. So I guess that's why these are successful.

SPEAKER_01

Uh just if anybody's got an in at FBI, how about give them a uh a shout and let's do it?

SPEAKER_02

They really need, I mean, I really think when they do practice, they're gonna get a ring of people, like a lot. A lot of people, yeah. I think because I'm hearing it in other states. Like I'm talking, uh, I've heard it in the middle of the United States. We're on the East Coast. I mean, there's all up and down the coast.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I've seen I've seen bonds of friends of mine that you know, ours that uh I'm on like Facebook with, and they're saying, and they're all saying the same thing. Hey, do not give these people money, do not do this. And I mean it's but they they sound legit. They sound legit. Just hang up the phone, call the jail back and go, hey, this is what was said to me. What's going on, really? And they'll tell you it's a scam, I guarantee you.

SPEAKER_02

All right. Well, we we wore that one in the ground. Everybody knows. So well, what else you got?

The Odyssey Movie Debate

SPEAKER_02

That Odyssey movie.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I want to say, all right. Somebody told me you had to I had to watch it because I'm going to Greece here in a few weeks.

SPEAKER_02

No, you don't gotta watch it because you've been in the Greece. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't think I'm going to.

SPEAKER_02

In fact, I just read that Greece removed it from their theaters because it's a disservice to the actual story of what they've done to it. Um, the leak character is a trans woman dude that's became a woman. And like that's supposed to be this is used to be Brad Pitt's character, right?

SPEAKER_01

So is it a chick that's now trying to be a dude, or is it a Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

A chick's trying to be a dude. Oh, okay, okay. Yeah, yeah. It's confusing. But um, yeah, so I believe this is the same story that Brad uh Brad Pitt did, and he did a really good job.

SPEAKER_01

Well, well, it the Trojan, the Trojan horse, you know, where they uh Troy. It was Troy, yeah. Where they, you know, it back in the day they hid all they all hid in this Trojan horse, got wheeled into a city, and then it was it was a setup, you know, they got out and they killed everybody at night. Yeah, but and but that's that's a good story because you know it that happened a long time ago, but now now this is happening. What I mean, I'm kind of now I wonder what disservice they did in the movie.

SPEAKER_02

Well, one, they had a trans person pretending to be a badass.

SPEAKER_01

Oh. I got no balls.

SPEAKER_02

Literally, literally, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um no testosterone at all.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, I mean, yeah, and there's there's other parts of it. I don't I don't know. I've I've listened to some other podcasts, um, things that have been said, they're trying to hype it as being a great a great movie.

SPEAKER_01

So were you trying to say not not to go watch it?

SPEAKER_02

Don't watch it. No, don't fall for it. Um Steven Crowder's got a great bit about it. About how, yeah, it's it's it's terrible. Don't give them your money to watch that shit.

SPEAKER_01

Well, good. I'm glad I'm uh I'm not I'm glad I'm not interested in watching that. I because you know I did some, you know, since I'm going, since I'm going, I did some you know research, you know, looking up to see what things are going over there, like what kind of food. Like I'm down for the food.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's all clean.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I cannot wait to try that and the cheeses and stuff like that. But I was looking at the history on the place, and I can't wait to see the actual history versus what you know we're seeing, we see over here, but you know, it's a lot different in person. So I'm kind of interested in that.

SPEAKER_02

What else do you have?

SPEAKER_01

Uh let's see here.

Iran Updates And Media Confusion

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Iran. Let's talk a little bit on Iran because I kind of you know, who gives a shit anymore? No, who nobody knows what's going on. No. They're talking, they're not talking, they're blowing shit up.

SPEAKER_02

I saw I saw an old tanker got blown up in the Strait of Hermoose. Yeah, I saw that. They hit a mine and uh blew up.

SPEAKER_01

Well, okay, so there was like uh there's something, I think it was Fox News I saw, where they were talking about enriched Iranium. They they there's a spot where they're they've dug it out deeper to go store it at that they think it's at, and our B-2 bombers can't get to it. So I'm like, okay, so I'm confused. You told me there's no more, now they're telling me there is, and it's deeper, we can't get to it. Now, come on, is this something like the the news media is trying to like conjure up the story? You know, who the hell knows? But what I did see that I know that's for real is you know how like back in the day Iran used to be a very productive country in the world before the Ayatollah took over. Okay. All right, so now the people that represent the old Iran, they're protesting, and they were I saw a video of them in the streets and they're all protesting, trying to take they want their country back. But they gotta take it away from the Ayantola, the IGRC, or or I whatever you want to call it. Um they want to take it back, which that's what I know Trump was saying that's what he wanted to happen long time ago. Hey, take your country back. So I'm hoping like to see some good coming out of this, instead of us just kind of being at a stalemate and all we're doing is blowing up shit and our gra and our gas prices are still high.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't know. Iran, I mean every day it's like it's like groundholding, you know, with Iran.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I hope they can do something with that place.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. Um, let's see. Another

Supreme Court And Haitian Work Visas

SPEAKER_01

topic, sir, is the Supreme Court sides with Trump revoking work visas for Haitians.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, saw the story. So 300,000 Haitians are losing their uh work visas because what happened was they came here in 2010, I believe it was.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And they were um they were here on a temporary status, and they managed to make that a more permanent status. Uh evidently there's a lot of them in Springfield, Ohio.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

And uh so as of today they have lost. This is like going into effect immediately.

SPEAKER_01

Why in the middle of nowhere like that? I I'm I'm I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Why do Muslims choose uh Minnesota?

SPEAKER_01

You mean well that yeah, you mean the uh Haitians or the um what are they called?

SPEAKER_02

Is that right?

SPEAKER_01

Haitians uh no shit, Somalians.

SPEAKER_02

Somalians, excuse me. Uh Somali Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Somalians. I I don't I don't understand it.

SPEAKER_02

I I'm um yeah, so I I don't know. There there must be some rhyme or reason, you know, to why they flock to one area.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, who knows?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, but they need to go because there's nothing good gonna come of it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna lie to you, Derek Chad, and you we expressed the same. When we were there in Minnesota, we kept to ourselves.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but it was very uneasy. Is is very noticeable.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I noticed that there was one working in almost every restaurant, store, airport area, and like well, there was that that one that was in at our terminal that was that was checking us in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh male and female yelling at us, and we didn't do nothing. We're just standing there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like they were the ones that said you could board, and then they were, you know, like I I did not did not care for that one bit. That's one group I I'm very open about.

SPEAKER_01

It was very uneasy. Yeah, very uneasy. So anyway.

SPEAKER_02

If I went to your country, I would want to assimilate to your culture, your ways. Yeah, you don't come here and try to make it yours.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta be respectful. I mean, but but people like that don't know how to don't respect they they they they don't have they're like locusts, they they infest and they destroy. Ah, that's a good analogy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what they are.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, that's that's a good one.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, so Chad's got one for you today, guys. So we

High Bonds And Court Monitoring Rules

SPEAKER_02

changing it up a little bit today. Um, normally we tell a go getcha story. Um today um I thought it'd be interesting to talk about um some of these bonds that we do, and a lot of a lot of cases that are in court um are are very large bonds that people just can't make it. But the judges are pressured to put these large bonds because of what they supposedly have done. So it's kind of a catch-22. The solution that the courts have been doing over the past few years is to reduce your bond, but you gotta wear an ankle monitor so we know where you at.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right? And we've we had those in the office. Um we have we have um some cool wrist ones uh that people tend to like. But the courts, if the courts order, it's a county-issued thing, so the county is paying for it. You get that nice ankle.

SPEAKER_01

And it's that's taxpayer money.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's taxpayer money. So the state allots so much money and they give it out based on, I think, per capita of the uh population of certain counties throughout the state. Right. So you you know, each county gets this much to spend on monitoring. Well, we had a case. Um, we've had a few where, you know, these are we're actually looking at one in Wake County. Guys on a $3.5 million bond. Yeah. We're hoping that gets reduced, which is it's a murder case, but they've got him as first degree. It should be second degree. What first degree is premeditated. This was not. So we're he didn't know the guy. Yeah, yeah. So that's a different story. But he's gonna have to wear an ankle monitor as a condition to lower his bond greatly, which he can make. So, anyway, that's kind of along the storyline. But what we had one years ago, right before Rob came on, we were in a different office, and I had a call from a group of people that were basically a congregation of a preacher. This

The Preacher Bond And Cult Vibes

SPEAKER_02

preacher came from Florida, came up here to our area south of us, and um he um was charged with some some serious charges. So he had a um what is it called, fugitive from another state. So whenever you get accused of something and you decide you're gonna leave on a felony charges like you did, then you can be put in fugitive status when you're found in a another another state. If you're an NCIC.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right? A governor's warrant.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, a governor's warrant. So that's what this guy had. Now he had his congregation. It was three couples that came to our office. And uh nice people, um, husband, wife, three couples, they wanted to get this preacher out.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so I'm gonna stop you there. Preacher. What are we naming the preacher? Well, who who's the um who's the preacher that like that back in remember back in the 90s who like scammed a bunch of people?

SPEAKER_02

Well, when I Googled this story, um actually there, yeah, there were a few preachers that popped up. So as long as I don't say this guy's name, apparently it's not telling you exactly who it is. Um but um we gotta nickname him one of them preachers. Um I don't know, man. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Joel Joel Osteen. Um you're telling me that's a good thing. Dude, these made these made churches, man. You got these mega churches, you know that that dude they there's a special place in hell for him.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so what this guy did, man, was he he told his congregation that they could invest in this it was it was we we I wanna I don't want to give too much away, but it was it was an investment opportunity into a commodity. All right, all right. So these people invested into this thinking that he was gonna uh you know grow their money. Right. All right. So what he did instead was he paid his bills, uh uh his debt, and he went on a little shopping spree for like a couple years. Oh yeah, and he was Evidently, he was part of a larger Ponzi scheme that was going from Florida up to New York. And several states involved, and another another guy that was a partner.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

All right. So meanwhile, this three couples, you know, they love this guy. I I got cult vibes when they were in the office. You know, I felt like this was a cult. I think like I I barely remember this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I really did, man. And I was a little uneasy with it talking with them, you know. But these people, I mean, you know, these were, you know, folks that own their homes or buying their homes, you know, they were home on it. They weren't, they weren't just fly by the night, left Florida, and you know, we're gonna get this guy. They were established. And that's what we're you know, we're looking for. So I had all three of them co-sign the bond. The bond was like, it was sizable. I'll I'll say it was a hundred thousand, something like that. I know it was up there. And I made it one of the conditions that he have to wear. This was not county issues, this was privately, privately paid. In order for me to do this bond, he's gonna have to wear an ankle monitor.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, and pay for it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and uh they agreed.

SPEAKER_01

Who do you scan who do they like?

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, this protects not only me, but you three people that signed this paper.

SPEAKER_01

Now, now you had to be careful when you take money from these people because you don't know, you know, what's you know, what's scammed or what's not.

SPEAKER_02

Oh well, uh each one of them, I believe, I believe the story was um that each one of them paid a percentage, you know, probably about a third uh to to cover them the bond fee. So we get the preacher out and we put the monitor on, and you know, it was hallelujah in office with everybody. And uh it was it seemed okay, you know, at the time, but it was it probably wasn't a two weeks later, and I started getting text messages and calls from this this guy complaining about having to wear this monitor.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, here

How Fugitive Warrants Really Work

SPEAKER_01

we go.

SPEAKER_02

I said, look, man, I said, here's the way fugitive warrants work. You have a court appearance at the Brunswick County courthouses where the where you were arrested. And so basically, Brunswick County says, Hey, Florida, I've got your guy up here, he's gonna have court on uh you know the 30th of each month.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

You're gonna have three consecutive months where you have to be there on a certain date every 30 days. You have to sit there all day. 90 days they will hold you. All right. So they've given Florida the notice. Hey, you guys here, he'll be here on this date, right? This date, and this date. Each time he goes and they don't pick him up on the third one or the 90th day, nobody came to get you. That that says North Carolina says, All right, we told you he's here. Now we're gonna, we're gonna, you know, he's he's no longer held by us.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

So his case is disposed as of North Carolina.

SPEAKER_01

But it's not disposed in Florida.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's not. And if he went back to Florida, it would be active if he got pulled over. Right. So, um, but he's done here. So, all right, but during this period of time, that dude called and whined and cried about his ankle and you know, everything about it. And I was like, look, man, this was the stipulation of getting you out, you were fine with it.

SPEAKER_01

And I remember so I remember this now, yeah. And I remember you going, hey, we need to put this guy on our radar because we don't know what's about to happen.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I mean, you know, it's not like this guy was like doing you know strenuous exercises, right? Something that's gonna make you really like work it hurt your ankle. I mean, there's a lot of people that wear these things, they're not the most comfortable and they're not pretty, but you know, they also people deal with it, you know, and you only got 90 days to do it. So we finally got down to the 90th day, and thank gosh, I mean, he he was such a pain in my butt about crying about that thing. And so I I went to the courthouse the day of it. I pulled up, and um when when we we first got him out, I had all the information. I knew what car he would be in, everything. And I I pulled up and I found the car in the parking lot, and I went into the courthouse to make sure he was there. So it was our monitor also, so I could see where he was at. Because my whole concern is you can cut these bracelets off. People do. I mean, they they have wires that run through them, so if you cut it, you know, we get a notification that you cut it and you're running. As a matter

Cutting Monitors And GPS Breadcrumbs

of fact, my old office outside, and I've got it on my website. I took a picture of a um probation officer that had it on the back of his vest. And I remember I was sitting there and I got a big window and I was looking at the office, and I saw this officer take the lid off the trash can and was digging through it. And I went outside, I said, Hey man, what are you what are you doing? He's like, Did you see some uh chunky, chunky blonde-haired guy run by here and throw something in the trash by chance? And I said, Yeah, as a matter of fact, I did because I was thinking he looked like somebody but like a thicker version of him. Right. And I and just when we were talking, he reaches and he grabs his um monitor out of the trash and holds it up. I wish I would have got a picture of that, but I I just got one of him rooting through the trash. Anyway, um, he's like, Yeah, he goes, he he uh cut that off and ran out of the courthouse. Wow, and so this is where he threw it, you know. So I say, you know, to people, electronic monitoring has its place, its purpose, but it's not an end-all.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's it's um uh let's see, for us, it would be more of all right, you got one on, that's great, but if you cut it off, it's also gonna show us breadcrumbs.

SPEAKER_02

Right. It establishes a pattern, is what what it what it basically does. People are creatures of habit.

SPEAKER_01

Creatures of habit, dude. I was just about to say that. Yeah, huh?

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry, I didn't miss too much, but but that's what's that's basically, and so if you if you go day by day, you'll see certain places where people frequent, you know, and that's kind of the purpose of a GPS, in my opinion. Um, but anyway, so we got that off the guy, and uh he was so relieved, and I was relieved, and the congregation of people, the the group of people were they were happy, and um so it was like two weeks later, I believe it was, two or three weeks later, I get a call uh from some guy from the FBI, and uh he wanted to know where I was showing that guy.

The FBI Call And The Fallout

SPEAKER_02

He's like, I know you got a monitor on this guy. Um, where's he at right now? I said, Well, his court case was a couple weeks ago, like, yeah, that was final judgment. I had to take it off. And he was like, Oh, he'd say, You you got you don't you don't know where he's at? And it's like, well, here's the last address that I had for him, but that's that's all I have. I mean, he cleared his case with me, so you know, he's done. And uh, he's like, Yeah, we've got more warrants for him. So man, it's it's funny. I was just looking at this story in the follow-up. It turned out this guy, along with this other people, he ended up having to pay, along with this other person, like over eight and a half million dollars in rescue. Oh my god, for this, yeah. And serving some years in prison.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_02

So uh apparently um he did get picked back up. And uh well, it didn't wasn't a good outcome.

SPEAKER_01

So things didn't work out for old Joel.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Joel, that's what we call him, Joel. Yeah, we're gonna call him Joel. All right, Joel.

SPEAKER_01

Because I'm telling you, one day you're gonna see that, you're gonna see him in damn jail for something. Uh, and there's a there's another, there's a there's a few of these preachers, um preacher guys. The guy there's one, I can't remember his name to save my life. He bought he bought a jet from uh uh an actor.

SPEAKER_02

Um I I I don't think that's that's what God wants you to do is is buy expensive things. You're you're supposed to be set an example to people, you know, just because you might have a successful church.

SPEAKER_01

And people go along with it. That's what's crazy to me. I'm like, hold on. You you can't see the forest for the trees.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Man, I I just that's what I hate. I hate that part about religion. Yeah. You know, when it c like it's money, like greed. Like Jesus didn't he didn't have he didn't preach from no uh temple or you know, or well, I mean he did eventually, but I'm saying he preached on a rock. Right. Uh the sea, which is pretty pretty cool. I mean, you're right by the water, I'm down with it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so that's Joel. Oh Joel. And uh yeah, I just thought that would be a little change up, you know, it lets you let you see kind of what we what we encounter uh from the binding side, not always the go-getcha, because that was a potential go getcha case, but uh that was uh that's just what we you know have to deal with. I mean, we have other other stories of those type situations too. Um yeah, I've got I've got a real good one I could tell.

SPEAKER_01

Um we have to say that for next time, brother.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. And

Socialism Talk And Closing Thoughts

SPEAKER_02

um, oh yeah, one of the topics we did not get into was young people and socialism. I made a nice I made a cool shirt over the weekend because I'm hearing so much about socialism. And uh it's again, it's off of uh Rogan's conversation with um how people how young people are kind of like we won't go too deep into this, but how they're looking at it because they're having trouble paying for things, so they're looking at this as that's a possibility to to make them survive is socialism. That's that's a slippery spot.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of businesses have left New York and they've lost a lot of revenue because of it. Uh Mr.

SPEAKER_02

Mundami. Uh he's uh put it on a credit card. I don't get it.

SPEAKER_01

I just don't get it. Well, you I tell you what, show me one one place where it worked.

SPEAKER_02

I'll go and I'll they just didn't do it hard enough, Rob.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They didn't do it the right way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01
