80s, Baby! with Seersha
I'm Seersha, an internationally touring artist, songwriter, and producer who also happens to be deeply in love with the decade that defined pop culture like no other.
It wasn't always clear how this passion would shape my journey, but my love for the era has led me on a wild adventure from depressed corporate girly to living my dream: making original synthwave inspired by the 80s, bringing 80s hits to life around the world with tribute band Guardians of the Jukebox, and exploring the intersection of 80s new wave and jazz via my duo, Moonlighting.
In each episode, we’ll explore the creative process, personal stories, and the cultural impact behind the songs we all love. Plus, I'll share some insights and takeaways for fellow creatives and dreamers, from my perspective.
So, whether you’re an 80s aficionado, an aspiring artist, or just curious about the magic of this incredible decade, tune in and let’s rewind, relive, and re-love the 80s together.

INTRO
I’m an 80s baby through and through, deeply in love with the decade that defined pop culture like no other.
So whether you're an 80s aficionado, a fellow artist drawing inspiration from this colorful decade, or someone curious about my transformation from mundane 9-to-5 to musician navigating a retro-tinged career, you've found your crew. Let’s be kind, rewind, relive, and re-love the 80s together.
Welcome to “80s, Baby!” season 2. I’m your host, Seersha.
EXPOSITION
Alright babes, we’re kicking off season 2! I’m really excited about the songs and stories I have planned to share with you this year, and for the most part, we’re going to stick with the same format as last season. But today, I’ve got something a little different and special for you. The first two episodes of this season are live recordings from the premiere and Q&A that I hosted at the historic Plaza Theatre back in January where we screened and celebrated the Running in the Dark music video. Today’s episode is the moderated portion of the afternoon, and in two weeks I’ll drop part two which features questions from the audience. Let’s dive into the panel, and I’ll circle back with some final thoughts.
Q&A RECORDING
FINAL THOUGHTS
As I was editing this episode, it took me back to early on in my career – I had a very simple motto – make cool stuff with cool people. Make cool stuff with cool people… that encapsulates the whole process of bringing this song and video to life, and even the screening itself, it was such a high to share both the product of the video and the process with my people and spotlight fellow creatives and artists that I love. I also really hope that if you’re listening to this as a creative, that maybe it unburdens you a little, to feel like you can approach your craft with more spontaneity. Not everything has to be storyboarded or planned to death – with the right team and the right elements in place you can give yourself some leeway to play in the sandbox and bring something to life that has a little more freedom, a little more surprise and flexibility to the process. And you might be surprised at some of the happy accidents that can come out of approaching the process that way.
