“Prepare the Way of the Lord” - Morning by Morning, July 18, 2025
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight in the desert
A highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough places smooth;
The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken’” (Isaiah 40:3-5).

Morning by Morning, July 18, 2025 - “Prepare the Way of the Lord”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I begin my day looking to You (Hebrews 12:2). ...
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight in the desert
A highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough places smooth;
The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken’” (Isaiah 40:3-5).
Come, Holy Spirit. Prepare the way of the Lord here in my heart and here in my world.
Make my paths straight. Wherever I need conviction, correction, redirection. Align my steps with Your Word and Your heart, as You set my feet on the path that leads into the fullness of Your will for my life.
Lift up the valleys of any areas in my heart and emotions that are battle-weary or worn. Build me up from the inside out wherever I feel beaten-down or hurt. Fill the low places with Your Living Waters to flow like a river of Your Spirit in me and through me.
Bring down every mountain and hill of pride—the kind of pride that asserts my own will, my own way, where I am in control instead of surrendering to Your control. Pull down every idol that I allow to exalt itself in my life with a place and priority that only You should have.
Straighten up the crooked places. Whatever’s out of joint or out of alignment, come set it right again. Establish in me a desire for righteousness in You—right with God, right with others, right within myself. Rekindle the fire of the desire for holiness of heart and life in my thoughts and desires to make me more like You each day.
Make the rough places smooth wherever I need to be sanded down, wherever barriers and blockages of my flesh that get in the way of Your Spirit need to be rebuffed or removed. Sanctify my tongue to be smooth and not harsh, building up and not tearing down, speaking Your words of spirit and life and not destruction and death, all in alignment with Your will and in Your ways.
May Your glory be revealed. “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Prepare the way of the Lord in me, that I may “Arise, shine, for (my) Light has come. And the glory of the Lord is risen upon (me)” (Isaiah 60:1). Let my flesh bow down, let my spirit arise, to see Your glory displayed as You “prepare the way of the Lord” in me. “For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Now let the heart of my spirit hear and trust and obey. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
