“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.... ’” (Matthew 2:1-2).

“And behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (v. 9-11).

Freshly written and sent out immediately "morning by morning" from the morning prayer time of Tommy Hays each day.

God bless you and you have a great day!

Morning by Morning, December 19, 2025 — “Do You See What I See?”

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with Your Spirit, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ...

I’m waking up with a line from one of my favorite Christmas songs in rising in my heart this morning: “Do you see what I see?” ...

The song speaks of the star over Bethlehem, “shining in the night” that led the wise men to come worship Jesus:

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.... ’” (Matthew 2:1-2).

The shepherd boy says to the mighty king, “Let us bring Him silver and gold.”

The mighty king calls everyone to “Pray for peace, people everywhere” for this Child who “will bring us goodness and light.”

May You be the One we see. With our eyes on You, we pray for peace everywhere, especially the true peace that only comes when our eyes are on You and our hearts open to You. Let every heart then be filled with Your goodness and light. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
