Morning by Morning, February 5, 2026 — “My Strength and My Shield”

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up here in my heart and in my world. ...

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him” (Psalm 28:7).

You are my Strength within me and my Shield about me.

As my strength, You empower me to be courageous. You anoint me to stand firm. You inspire me to boldly live my life grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. Though apart from You, I can do nothing; but I am never apart from You, always strong in You. That’s part of what it means that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness, that Your grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9).

It’s not a weakness of character or power, but a weakness of surrendering my will to Your will, my ways to Your ways, my plans to Your plans, my inabilities to Your abilities. “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10).

As my shield, You also protect me. You surround me with Your Presence. You send forth Your word and Your angels to guard me (Psalm 91:1-16). “You, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head” (Psalm 3:3). In Your strength and by Your shield, You “quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16). Shielded by You, “No weapon formed against (me) shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against (me) in judgment, You shall condemn. The is the heritage of the servants of the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17).

Empowered and protected, by Your strength and Your shield, send me forth into my day, filled with a song in my spirit of thanksgiving and praise. My heart greatly rejoices in You. “My heart triumphs” in You and all You do for me (Psalm 28:7 NASB). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
