Morning by Morning, April 24, 2026 — “Seek My Face.”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. As I start my day, I seek Your face—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“When You said, ‘Seek My face,’
My heart said to You, ‘Your face, Lord, I will seek’” (Psalm 27:8).
As I wait for Your leading, a little extra early this morning, You’re bringing to mind the passion You gave Moses to seek Your face, to pursue Your Presence. And I sense that stirring of Your Spirit in me:
“Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting.... And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.... So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:7-11).
In the very same Chapter of the Scripture where Your Word says You spoke to Moses “face to face,” Your Word also says You also spoke to Moses that “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live” (Exodus 33:20).
How can both be true, Lord? ...
As I wait and listen, this comes to my heart:
“Face to face is Heart to heart, Spirit to spirit, Friend to friend. Did I not say, ‘If you seek Me with all your heart, you will find Me?” ...
Yes, Lord. Your written Word comes to mind to confirm what I believe I’m hearing in my heart as Your spoken word:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:11-14).
These Words were spoken and written to Your people during a time of rebellion against You, when they were under Your judgment and about to suffer the consequences of their disobedience and resistance (Jeremiah 29:15-20). Which speaks of Your mercy and grace, Your desire that we would turn to You, to pursue You, to seek after You will all our heart and mind and soul and strength, no matter how far we have fallen or how far away we have turned.
Moses himself would fall and would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land, to suffer the consequences of his sin, for failing to fully lead Your people faithfully with Your heart (Deuteronomy 32:49-52). Yet even so, he would enter the Promised Land in his spirit, if not his body, when he was granted the blessing and honor of speaking with You face to face on Mount of Transfiguration in the Promised Land before the day of Your Sacrifice for us:
“Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him” (Matthew 17:1-3).
Somehow this scene reveals some depth of spiritual truth of how we can seek You and pursue You and even experience You speaking with us Face to face, Heart to heart, Spirit to spirit, through the “new and living way” You have prepared for us and made available to us through Your sacrifice for us (Hebrews 10:20). “By faith ... (Moses) endured as seeing Him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27). Moses, “whom the Lord knew face to face” (Deuteronomy 34:10).
In truth, I’m not sure how all this works. As much as Moses knew You and talked with You face to face as one talks with a friend, through Your sacrifice for us, we have “a better covenant, which was established on better promises” (Hebrews 8:6). What Moses experienced was merely “a shadow of the heavenly things” (Hebrews 8:5).
For now, in Christ, You declare to all Your true disciples who truly seek Your face to experience Your Presence Face to face, Heart to heart, Spirit to spirit:
“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15).
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).
Lord, I’m asking. Lord, I’m seeking. Lord, I’m knocking. Lord, I’m pursing You face to Face, heart to Heart, spirit to Spirit. Your Face, Lord, I will seek. And I know I will find You—and all that Your Word means by this—as I keep seeking You with all my heart. And as I close my prayer this morning, this final word rises up in my heart:
“It’s as much about the journey as it is about the destination. As you trust Me in your destination, trust Me in your journey. I Am your Journey. Knowing Me is your destination.” ...
Yes, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
