Morning by Morning, April 30, 2026 — “Here I Am, Lord”
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I begin my day speaking out Your name and listening up for Your leading. ...
“I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me’” (Isaiah 6:8).
When Isaiah heard Your voice of Your calling and responded in faith to Your commissioning, he had encountered Your Presence:
“For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” (v. 5)
Morning by Morning, I seek an encounter with You, my King. Moment by moment, I seek to live in Your Presence.
Spirit to Spirit, heart to Heart, deep crying out to Deep, I seek to abide in You as You abide in me (John 15:4). I seek to open the temple of my heart to be filled with Your Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16). I seek to be ready and willing to hear and obey Your calling and commissioning to go where You send me and fulfill what You’ve purposed for me—as best as I can and all by Your grace. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).
The words of an old hymn that I heard during the time of my calling from living out my career as a trial lawyer to embracing my new calling into full-time ministry over thirty years ago are coming again to my heart this morning:
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide,
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them.
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak My word to them.
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.
Yes, Lord. Here I am, Lord. Send me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
