Morning by Morning, May 25, 2026 — Honoring Sacrifice on Memorial Day
Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your leading, for Your sheep hear Your voice and know You and follow You (John 10:27). …
As I wait for Your leading, I’m reminded that today is called Memorial Day in my nation, where we remember those who have fought and died for our freedom and protection as one nation under God. …
Thank You for their sacrifice. For their ultimate sacrifice, in laying down their lives for our nation.
We remember their courage and pray for their families. And we do not take what we have been given for granted.
Their sacrifice is a living example of Your call to each of us to follow Your Example for all of us:
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).
As You said, before making Your Sacrifice of Your Life for us:
“As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep…. Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father” (John 10:15-18).
As we remember in memorial those who have laid down their lives for our nation, as we remember the One who laid down Your Life for us, may we have that same heart of love, of sacrifice, of courage, of honor in every way You call each of us. By the power of Your grace working in us, may we “present (our) bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is (our) reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
