Morning by Morning, August 3, 2026 — “Every Step”

G0od morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by the heart and lead me by Your Spirit into all You have for me today. …

As I wait for Your leading, I hear in my heart: “Every step.”

And words You spoke to Joshua that You still speak to every son and daughter of God who will embrace their identity as You lead them into the destiny:

“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses” (Joshua 1:3).

Every step we take in obedience to You is a step into the destiny we have in You.

For Joshua and the children of Israel, You brought them out of the wilderness and across the Jordan River into their Promised Land. You said it was their “inheritance” (v. 6). You told them, “Be strong and of courage” and that You would “make (their) way prosperous” to “have good success” (v. 7-8). And You inspired them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (v.9).

And You are with us now wherever we go.

Just as You promised them, so You continue to promise us: “I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you” (v. 5 confirmed in Hebrews 13:5).

You’re never leaving us and never forsaking us; You’re right here with us, every step of our journey in You.

Even once they were journeying through their Promised Land, there would be battles to fight, temptations to withstand, strongholds to overcome. And the same is true with us.

It’s all part of Your plan, part of our journey, part of our growing in understanding who we are in You and who You are in us. It’s all part of embracing both our identity and our destiny.

Our ultimate identity is knowing we are sons and daughters of God. Our ultimate destiny is being conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). That’s our inheritance; that’s our Promised Land. And that’s the purpose of all we go through, every step we take, on our journey with You (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
