Jerrell:Pretty good, pretty good
Christian:That
Jerrell:on this wonderful Wednesday, August 20th, 2025,
Will:get there on August 20th. Room joined by Christian Jarrell. we have
Jerrell:and, and the ambulance.
Christian:in the
Jerrell:the ambulance in the background.
Will:That's the, that's the, that's the nice part about having a office street side. You get to hear ting in the background. It's headed your way a Christian. So you know, if you hear that in about five minutes.
Christian:because you ignore that Velcro sound. It's just me taping up my knee.
Will:Today we're joined by a lot of random outside noises. We're gonna put we're gonna put it on the socials. Just what random noises did you hear in the background? Whoever gets the most listeners right, gets to see Christian's calf
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:be flexed the same way. Plus he's up for Christian's, MCL. He put up too many bangers up last night. He's dealing with the.
Christian:ends only.
Jerrell:But, but the Uber career is suffering.
Will:You have to get that Tezi autopilot going. Are you driving, sir? Mm-hmm.
Jerrell:Nope, it's, it's Elon Musk. Drive'em for me.
Christian:Way more. Alright,
Jerrell:have Waymo?
Christian:you, what'd you
Jerrell:Not here.
Christian:I heard we got some new, we still got some
Jerrell:We got some new, we got new. Yeah, we got some new places. We got new places. We got Frankfurt, Germany.
Christian:Ah, I
Jerrell:We got Brisbane, Australia, part of Queensland Dublin, Ireland, and Charleston, South Carolina. So thank you guys for listening. That's great. Like I logged in, I was like, holy shit. Like people are tuning in. One of you guys, one of you guys out there went on a marathon run of our podcast and we appreciate that even more.
Christian:They was trying to just speed run, trying to get cut up with the Premier League.
Jerrell:Absolutely. Yeah.
Will:like, what happened last year?
Jerrell:Yep.
Will:So they, they were trying to get the chronological, they're
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:Premier League seasons, like that league started last year, so yeah, we appreciate you guys listening and send a subscribe, send a, send a shout. We have socials. Tell me all about'em.
Jerrell:We've got Twitter, blue Sky, Insta, the Football Fellows at all of those. We have an official website, football fellows.com, where you can see some news. It gets updated sometimes and the standings, so you don't have to get ads from the Premier League or anything. You can just go straight to football fellows.com. See the standings right there. Don't have to about anything
Christian:What was that website? One more time.
Jerrell:football fellas.com.
Will:Bus sprout, we don't need you. Even
Jerrell:We
Will:kind
Jerrell:we do, we do.
Will:of use do easy for posting, but
Jerrell:We need them to host the podcast, although they're trying to raise the rate.
Will:We also have a Gmail Football fellows@gmail.com. Send us the email when, yeah, I don't know, just'cause Fuck
Jerrell:We need, we need an artist. We need an artist for, for the podcast episodes.
Will:Oh, do we? It.
Jerrell:Maybe it's intern work.
Will:Intern work. I don't, I don't know if any of the interns have a fucking creative bone in their bodies
Jerrell:That's why we need.
Will:guitar. If it's acoustic guitar, I know a guy. It's Christian. All right, cool. Outside of that, you guys doing well?
Jerrell:Yes, doing well
Christian:We're doing.
Will:Christians like as well as I can with them building next door, we'll get there.
Christian:It's actually pretty interesting. I'm actually enjoying the way they're
Jerrell:the progress.
Christian:housing, fucking whatever
Will:The video of them lifting up the, the piece up just like it was a gingerbread house, was actually wild. I was like, I don't know how I thought buildings were built, but
Jerrell:You should.
Will:it was like that. O.
Christian:the, they casted the walls on the ground and I was like, those are some pretty tiny rooms. And then they put it up and I was like, oh, those were window holes.
Will:Mm-hmm. Windows. Alright.
Christian:Guys.
Will:new,
Christian:news
Jerrell:We.
Christian:from around the
Will:Yeah, so the Esau drama ongoing he missed a pfas and he put a statement up, black text, white black background, white text stating just kind of like, pretty much, I ain't showing up to that shit. Thank you to everyone. Great season to everyone. Couple arsenal players, couple Manchester, Liverpool players. But pretty much I ain't showing up. I'm on strike. I wanna go to Liverpool. cut the check, or receive the check. And Newcastle respond to it the well. Now he's, now you're really not fucking moving. So we'll see how that goes over like the next week and a half left in the transfer window. As a it looked like he was a done deal to sprayers over the weekend. Crystal Palace, they were gonna hold off because they have their qualifying matchup tomorrow. So maybe same day you're listening to us. If as it gets posted, I don't know if Gerald's gonna go tonight if he's feeling ballsy or maybe tomorrow morning, but,
Jerrell:to be accurate, I might have to.
Will:But in the meantime, Kai Havet with Arsenal. He looks like he's suffering in the injury, the extent not known, but it looks like he'll be facing a spell on the sideline. So now it looks like that's about to be hijacked by Arsenal as, as they looks like he might be going to Arsenal, Arsal might be willing to pay a fee around the 68 million pound release clause from over the summer as they look to bolster up their left wing forward line. There. But we'll get further into that. Yeah.
Jerrell:the wolves, they, they signed the fastest man from the Italian League,
Will:And the yes. Jackson Tchaa for
Jerrell:but does it.
Christian:I Cs are silent.
Will:ua,
Christian:Yeah.
Will:dunno, sorry for fucking it up. Jackson, my guy though. It's wolves for 12 point a half million Euros. He was clocked at 35.8 kilos per something. I, I.
Christian:40 yard dash units.
Will:There's a question early on. We're early on into the recording and I've already been stuffed, fuck, I have to be more ready, my fault guys. But yeah, we're still seeing deals getting done. A lot of places set. Some places set tight like Brighton, they got all their deals done before July 5th. Other teams palace, looking for spending full and also with their coaches asking just like, where's cut the check, please. We need, we need reinforcement. So we'll see how that goes over the next week and a half.
Jerrell:Yeah. Two teams that haven't really been spending, I think they're the bo. I know Crystal Powell spent the least. I think Fulham is down there too.
Will:I, I think Fullham, they only got a backup goalkeeper for this season. And
Jerrell:Oh.
Will:Rodrigo Muni, who had a big goal over the weekend he might be on the way out. So we'll see. We'll see.
Jerrell:Oh, no.
Will:Glasner not happy. Westham I think also needs some spending, but that's neither here nor there. But we had our first weekend of Premier League football. How'd it feel, guys to just see all these games going on
Jerrell:It felt really, it felt really good. I was driving, I got, I got to the hotel and I was just like, wait, Liverpool and Bourmouth are playing. I need to watch this. Missed the first half.
Will:that energy
Jerrell:And caught the second. So if we wanna jump right into the review. But yeah. Liverpool born Myth four two. It was really fun watching the cherry see if they can kill some more giants this season. They almost, they almost got the point at, at Anfield but it just got away from them. Cha Chaa, how would you pronounce that
Christian:I'm pretty
Jerrell:chia?
Christian:I could be
Will:Yeah.
Christian:wrong.
Will:Kiaa. Yeah.
Christian:sir.
Jerrell:Hits the goal in the 88th minute to put the, to put Liverpool up three, two, and then sala sprints across the field to win the ball over. And then just like I still have enough energy to dribble some more and shoot and score, and GoBoard two in the stoppage time, sala is inevitable. And I was just like, man, I would've liked, I would've liked Liverpool to drop points at Anfield.
Will:the game was cod at that point. We're not gonna hit the inevitable line every time he scores, but yeah.
Jerrell:am, but.
Will:Hugo? Hugo, it was already okay. Hugo had to etiquette also with another goal. I think he scored in. Damn near most of his fixtures since we're take inevitable back from Drew. I don't remember the second golf at the top of my head, but Liverpool up 2.0. Antoine Simo, he was able to score a brace in the second half to bring it level. There was an instance of him being racially abused and the. Fan that was found of it was banned permanently from the stadium. It's good to see something being done versus a, just a slap on the wrist, but ans a menu as well. I think he was linked with Arsenal when they found out about Rs, but we'll see how that goes. But he gets a brace, but Liverpool Remi reminiscent of last season. They got goals two goals late and they sealed three points to start off the season.
Jerrell:Yeah, so my new Schools are really nice.
Christian:that, that I've noticed is the last two games, they're, they have
Will:Give it to me.
Christian:what's his name? Shores by Woo.
Will:Yeah.
Christian:He's. He's usually more of an attacker midfielder than they have been playing midfield. The two goals that led to the two goals from Bemo came from just everybody in Liverpool being up top. There's too many people attacking friend PA also plays up top. I think their second, their first goal there nine, like there was like eight out of the 11 players for Liverpool. Were in the attacking half on the first goal. There's just, there's no one to hold the midfield and everybody's just in the attacking, attacking. And that's where two of the both goals for burn Move came. It was just just got caught flatfooted at top of the on the opposite side and they just sped through so
Jerrell:Yeah, no, definitely.
Christian:last time. And it's something that they might wanna look into maybe change some players around, get some more defensive holders in there. But there's no doubt that they can score. They're always going to score. And now it's just I feel like a, a better team. Have a better chance of pulling away points from that, from that,
Jerrell:So what you, what you're saying is they need more tense.
Christian:Need more tens. Yeah.
Will:think it'll, yeah, it'll be interesting.'cause I feel like Sova Sly, who I think, I've, I've sung his praises before, especially when we're covering Euros last summer is, yeah, he plays more of a 10 role. McAllister can be interchanged throughout that midfield. But Florian and Verts, while he can't play left wing, he's more known for playing like more, a little bit more centrally in a 10 role. So how that works between them, f pong wing back. And then also Milo Kki kind of plays a little bit more of a wing back as well, so you can get a attacks from different ways. But yeah, getting the tactics rights is gonna be crucial. They definitely did look a little bit more vulnerable in the midfield in their back line than you're used to seeing. Hey, they got the three points, but it'll be something interesting to track.'cause despite the Scoreline, I thought be Smith played them pretty solid for first game on the road to start the season.
Jerrell:Yeah, definitely. Because at the end of the day, like the charities they did, they, they did come back to equalize in that second half. So a lot of resiliency there too, despite the results. So they, they might be a tough team to just play against and you can't count them out. Onto the next one. We had the villains verse, Newcastle and a zero zero draw. Ashton Villa had to survive a red card to hold onto this draw.
Will:Yeah, Esri Kza with the red card in the 66 minute outside of that villa. Didn't look, didn't get too forward on their front fit, but New Castle also couldn't convert, so I don't really have much to add on this one. It would just be something just kinda Newcastle doesn't score a goal. You're gonna hit the Esoc button and be like, oh shit what's going on there? Newcastle continually looking to bring in a new striker look. I think they just had a bid for Y Visa. For about 40 million pounds or euros, forgot off the top of my head. I'm rejected as Brentford also looking to hold onto somebody on their end. So we'll see what it, we'll see what that looks like. In the meantime, a lot of
Jerrell:No, at the price is right, they'll sell'em.
Will:The price is 150 mil,
Jerrell:that's what they, that's what they valued him at. Holy shit. I don't know about that.
Christian:How much did they pay for him?
Will:I don't remem
Jerrell:not a lot.
Will:they got him from Rail's side of that, but they, it was, it wasn't that much. But when you look at it, look at his age, he's 25. Who's the top nine that's realistically available across Europe?
Christian:for him.
Jerrell:Lisa, I thought he was 28.
Will:Visa is like 29, 28.
Jerrell:Yeah,
Will:Oh, are you asking Visa or are we talking esoc still?
Jerrell:I'm talking Lisa.
Will:Oh, I have no idea, dude.
Jerrell:I was like 150 for Lisa. Is is insane.
Will:no. I, I was talk.
Christian:not.
Will:absolutely not, bro. I wasn't,
Jerrell:I was like, whoa.
Will:wasn't, I wasn't gonna stick on that for too long. I was definitely back on ES socks since we were
Jerrell:Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. 50 for Estock. Okay. I'm like, all sure. Yeah.
Will:feel like 40 mil for Visa is like decent money, honestly.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Christian:Newcastle bought him for 75 mil.
Will:from society of that,
Christian:yeah.
Will:Yeah, so we'll see. They, I think they want one 50. They're trying to like, not get bullied out of it, but we'll see how that goes because we'll definitely get clarity over the next 11 days.'cause we're also in a World Cup year yeah, but draw on the road at the London Stadium to start the season for them. We also had Brighton versus Fullham ending in a one one draw as well. Brighton's, get a, get a Matt Riley pen in the 55th and Fullham Rod Uni. He ties in the, pretty much at the last corner of the game in a game where Fullham really didn't show much going forward, exacerbating those concerns about the lack of spending that they've done headed into the season.
Jerrell:Yeah, not a whole lot going on here. It's a one, one draw. It was a game that could have went either way. To be honest. But yeah, it's split the points surprising Match Sutherland and Westham, or is it surprising? I don't know. It depends who you ask.
Christian:bro. Not to Mexican Twitter baby.
Jerrell:No, absolutely not. I did see that recently though, too. I was like, they don't even have a Mexican player. Huh? They just love'em. Yeah.
Will:Sunderland. Yeah.
Jerrell:Three Oh.
Christian:of light, right? The soul. SOL, you make the connection to soul beer, Mexican soul beer.
Jerrell:Mm-hmm.
Christian:There it is. There
Jerrell:Alright.
Will:there. There's things still worth fighting for.
Christian:Yeah, but I don't know how many of our viewers have been up on the Sunland Twitter slash Mexican Twitter, but all of Mexico is backing up Sunderland and I love it,
Jerrell:They're not gonna, they're
Christian:a
Jerrell:gonna stay in the league.
Christian:They were just like, we're here eight years in, we're back baby. Mm-hmm.
Jerrell:Three goals in the final 30
Will:Yeah. Yeah. They
Jerrell:just okay.
Will:got three at home. And they returned to the Premier League for the first time in eight years. Grand Jaka also on that squad, shout 10. But Westham Pro.
Christian:The Greenage Jaka signing. I forgot about that. Yeah. Pretty fun fact about so in the last 10 Premier League seasons, newly promoted clubs have only managed to win five out of their 30 opening matches. The
Jerrell:Can you name the other one?
Christian:Brentford, Bern, Mo, and Hu's Field Town.
Will:We had another team win, right?
Jerrell:Yeah, we did.
Will:get there. Yeah, but that exacerbates Grand Potter's concerns Westham, very much a team that in transition, it looks like. Where are the goals come from? I do not know right now because I don't
Jerrell:Not here.
Will:Yeah. Yeah, Westham, they're on my relegation wash sprayers, Burnley, one of our other ascendant teams played this weekend and Spurs just with a neat 3 0 1 to start at the Thomas Frank era.
Jerrell:That's it.
Will:gets a brace.
Christian:I know. Amazing Brace. I don't know if you saw the second goal.
Will:I di I did. I didn't get a chance to see it.
Christian:I wasn't over the head.
Will:hmm. Good to see him. Score goals. Yeah.
Christian:Charleston got voted player of the the week as well. So
Will:Yeah,
Christian:Charleston.
Will:good for him. He had a tough season last year for them, but getting, being able to hit the ground running, definitely a player who has a good amount of quality. Just didn't really show up last year, unfortunately. Burnley tough, tough welcome back for them. But spurs looking to start off the season right versus tail end of last season.
Jerrell:Yeah. So yeah, taught him off to a good start. Thomas Frank, maybe a confidence thing. I don't know. He's got the squad, it's gotta come together and Brinley is not. We don't know what they're gonna be this season, but they got burned. But a good, a good, a good result.
Will:Yeah, I'm.
Christian:why you listen.
Will:This is why you're here. But yeah, I mean we talked about it a lot last season. The injuries talked about, we were like, spurs probably like the best 17th fish team we've ever seen in the Premier League. So it's really just kind of like, what's the ceiling and how much better can they be than last year? But it's good to see them, get this result early and we'll see what it looks like and we'll see what reinforcements they look to bring in, if that as a deal falls through.'cause I think they're also in on from Manchester City. As well. And I think I
Jerrell:Lisa.
Will:was reading already about a replacement they had in case as they didn't work out actually. Spurs spending money and looking to support Thomas Frank, Thomas Frank one of my favorite managers in the Premier League. So
Jerrell:Yeah. I know they've also been on the fence about WEA as well,'cause of the Thomas Frank connection. Don't know if that'll materialize. I think
Will:how
Jerrell:wea,
Will:than 40 mil do you want to,
Jerrell:I, I don't,
Will:who's older? That's the thing I think.
Jerrell:I dunno. I dunno. And I,
Will:you, Christian.
Jerrell:41 million. I don't think Lisa, Lisa still didn't even play in the first game. I think he's also protesting
Will:I think they marked it
Jerrell:being told.
Will:was a, like an injury sub or some shit, they just PRD it, so we'll see.
Jerrell:but he wasn't there
Will:I called this one Wolves Did not beat Manchester City and Wolves. A fantastic review debut for grinders of ac former AC Milan, man. Pretty much ball the game to assist in a goal. Yeah. So pretty much this went by the books essentially Rin. He had a great debut to start off rayon Cherokee. He was able to get a goal late and Erling Holland had a very clinical brace. Pretty much what you expect from Manchester City. All in all. So four oh result wolves didn't have much of a chance, but it was great to see grinders just pretty much hidden. A lot of these guys were able to get some preseason matches with Club World Cup and just some friendlies or whatnot. So you already see them. Coming together, especially with those January signings that really felt like the start of Manchester City's rebuild. Yeah. Manchester City, are they back? Hmm? I don't know if they left.
Jerrell:Yeah, I don't think they really left, but they'll compete this year.
Christian:necessarily a, a tough competition. Wolves ended just out of relegation last season.
Will:Hell yeah. Christian. Fuck'em up.
Christian:yeah. They got a few new pieces, but it's hard to get that going just off of the first first game. See, wolves have a long way to go. Man, city, just, you can't really count Manc city out in, in, in these games against bottom half teams.
Jerrell:Yeah, west Hammond Wolves raced to the bottom. I think.
Will:Yeah, we'll see. Wolves did finish really strong last year. I don't wanna fully discount just to finish that especially from like January on. But it is just looking just more of a matter of just like simple economics where it's just like the reinforcement that they need. Losing Kya losing ran, I ty it is just like where, who's stepping up and where do you get them from? We'll see. I don't wanna fully just say they're there, but I think we did have them on watch, just given there hasn't, we haven't seen much change with that team. Maybe this might be my surprise of the week. Chelsea Crystal Palace at Stanford Bridge. Zero zero finish. as they had a free kick goal disallowed in a weird moment where they said that Marge wasn't far enough from the wall. Chelsea won the XG battle, but they couldn't get any of goals. I think they had no attempts on goal from the fir in the first half. Second half. They picked it up some, but they finished zero zero to start their season.
Jerrell:Are you surprised at the draw, or are you surprised by the lack of goals?
Will:I probably the draw, honestly, Chelsea looked like they found some foreign second half of the season. They just bought an esteve. They just bought, they have net though. They have some investments in key places. Chris Pels is very much on the end where it's just like. You have Isaiah Gay, he still there. They look like they're out and it's just what does this team really look like? Without those guys, since they've had so many players, they've been losing over the last season and a half, two seasons. And they haven't been able to get one for one replacements for those guys. Not that players can fill in like Michael say from last year, someone who you can try to get the ball rolling with. So that coupled that being at home, I'm really surprised that hows got the draw despite winning the community shield to start the season.
Jerrell:Fair. Fair. Fair.
Christian:crystal Palace line are pretty compact on this one too. Chelsea, Chelsea controlled the, the possession of the, of. the game. 72% possession on this one, but they couldn't go anywhere with it, pretty much. The, the middle of the, they, they crowded Cole Palmer. They blocked the, the path to goal. They did really well in the, in the middle to pretty much Fort Chelsea from being able to they only had two, two big chances. Yeah, they, they just paid a good compact defensive plan and helped them get a point.
Will:Yeah, ballot had a couple, I think they also had another effort for him, essay that bounced off wood work, if I remember correctly. But zero, zero to start the season for these two teams. Yeah.
Christian:at first. I'm not too, too don't like the rule of just oh, you can't crowd the wall. You can't be too close, blah, blah, blah. But I, I saw the replay and I was like, yeah,
Will:Yeah.
Jerrell:Why it exists.
Christian:Yeah, that's a.
Will:Yeah. As a subbed off before the end of the game. Looked like he might have had a moment where he is oh, is this my last game or whatnot with him. And same with gay as well. Gay, he just walked off the pitch. I think he had a little kick up with Glassner. Glassner was trying to talk to him. He just kinda walked off. So the vibes aren't great right now in north London. So we'll see. We also had,
Christian:in North
Will:there's multiple teams in London. Drew, you wanna take the next one?
Jerrell:Yeah. Next we had Nottingham Forest and Brentford Nottingham Forest with three goals to Brent Ford's. One. Chris Wood gets his brace. He had a good run when when Brentford got their pocket picked, he just was like, oh, I'm gonna start my run. And then the ball just landed. To speed. And he was just like, dribble, dribble, shoot. And I was just like, ah, yes. Is this the brentford season we're in for? I did, I did stop watching at halftime because it was already three zero because I also had to get to the Arsenal game.
Will:Yeah, no, we appreciate your honesty, king.
Jerrell:I, I had to get ready and then later on I was just like, oh shit, Brentford scored. This will definitely help. The gold differential.
Will:was out here. Said, put those stingers away.
Jerrell:Yeah.
Will:listening. I heard the stingers out again and I was like, oh man. Such a good, I wish we came up with that last year.'cause yeah, this might be a tougher season. Coach, not Mark Andrews, that's the title. Michael Andrews Forgot.
Jerrell:Keith Keith Andrews. Keith Andrews.
Christian:bees last week. I forgot about that.
Jerrell:Keith, yeah. Keith Andrews is a, he's a set piece coach and, and I, I guess I could say their set pieces look good'cause, that's his specialty. But in the first half it was just like. There's no attack, there's no teeth. I was just kinda ah, this is tough. Like we're definitely missing some forwards. So
Will:I think when they were, once they were down two, oh, they showed a cut to him on the sideline, just what the fuck did I walk into?
Jerrell:yeah.
Will:as well'cause yeah. Brentford also dealing with the fact, they lose losing some key players. Obviously they lose their coach, so hopefully they're able to land on their feet and get
Jerrell:I had to listen to Tim Howard at halftime, be like, yeah, ER's the team I have going down. I'm just like, I hate Tim Howard.
Christian:On the other side of the ball, the, on the other side of the balls, the balls on the other side of the ball. The trees did really well. You,
Jerrell:Definitely. Yeah.
Christian:past weekend'cause he just got signed. But James McAfee signing from Man City is a great add to this. Theme in the midfield brings some good control for them. The trees always had a problem with possession. I don't think they've ever most of, most of the games, they, they, I don't think they've won a game last season with more than 50% possession. Or if they did maybe one or more, but I have that in one of my notes. Flos have won a match with more than 50% possession. They haven't won a match with more than 50% possessions since a won oh, against Crystal Palace last October. So they're not known to hold onto the ball. Maybe that's
Will:That's wild.
Christian:They lose the possession match. And that probably, probably makes sense on why we all pretty much wanted their entire back line as our teams are like players. We, we each had left back, so I think you had the keeper. We wanted the, one of the center backs. So with James McAtee edition, they're able to control the ball midfield. They're, they're, they're, they're looking strong. Chris Wood, as we mentioned, got a brace. He's still on form. He was voted the he was on the Premier League team of the season as well, so he's. He still wants to keep that run going. So shout out to Chris Woods. Shout out to trick trees. They beat the bricked up bees, so
Will:Y Yeah, they scored three after in six preseason games. They scored one goal, so you know, a little nervous coming in. But a Brent forget right game is apparently all it took for them to get back on. Back on track. Sorry, Darrell.
Jerrell:Nah, it's fine. This is gonna be a tough season.
Will:Speaking of tough seasons Manchester United versus Arsenal ends up zero one in favor of the gunners. K Fre, he scores off a corner routine. I
Jerrell:Of course.
Will:Ohana wasn't starting, which was wild. Christian by and deer came in. He's not the best in dead ball situations but.
Christian:Clearly.
Will:could have done a little bit better to fist out the corner, but Kali Fre gets like the tapper of all tappers. David Ray has a great game. What do you guys think about the game this weekend?
Jerrell:Did, did Arsenal
Christian:I just
Jerrell:eek this one out?
Christian:had a really good chicken pot pie at this Irish pub while
Will:This
Jerrell:did look. It did look good.
Christian:Yeah,
Jerrell:It did look good. Yeah.
Christian:a really fucking good chicken pot
Jerrell:Shepherd's Pie was pretty good too. And harps all around.
Christian:Yeah. Mm-hmm. Right before a three hour drive home. But. But jk cops
Will:12.
Christian:JK 12.
Jerrell:It.
Christian:it was, it was a very, very disappointing game. We got the win, but I did not enjoy seeing arsenal play. It, it just looked like we couldn't get possession. Yoko, this didn't even get a shot on goal. It, it just did not look like this is the form that we need to keep.
Jerrell:Knows how to bottle him.
Christian:Yeah. But no, it, it wasn't a good game. The pen was nice. They had, Manu did pretty much the same pen and you, the goal corner, sorry. And like you mentioned, he, it was pretty much the same, same position, but he was able to fist it out when Manu was not able to. But yeah, I was not impressed on how Arsenal played at all. Unfor.
Jerrell:I was impressed by Man United forwards though BOMO just fitting right in. Kya also as well, and they slept on Sesco too, but like that man United attack was just like, they, the XG doesn't really show it, but they were moving and I think the goals will come. Is it only a matter of time? Arsenal is obviously a very tough team to beat. I honestly thought Man United was gonna tie that game at some point, but yeah. David Ryan, man on the match, but yeah, Manu Knights attack, look. Really good. And then when they subbed on Harry McGuire, you know their right winger, I was like, oh my God, it's coming. So man, just.
Will:Brian and Beo BEO was was a problem all game. He almost hit almost hit a bicycle at some point. Just a lot of pace, a lot of energy. I'll give Arsenal o obviously it's not the result you want to see, you could see that they're trying to be a little bit more fluid with the way they play midfield. Yeah. Their midfield wasn't as strong as you expect from them. They didn't, weren't able to get the goals or whatnot, but you could see that they're trying to play a little bit more fluid, a little bit more in transition. Than we're used to. Ball was moving forward a lot quicker, a little bit more direct than you're used to saying, but I think it's gonna take time to gel. Going forward. Obviously losing Kai Haver is not great. Yoko des not his best date, not the best debut ever. It looked. He he was pressing at moments dribbling over himself a little bit working on the buildup. But all in all, say what you want about Manchester United. You got three points on the road to start the season at, at old traffic. So you take the points, you take a lesson, you held onto it leads coming weekend, and then Liverpool the following. So you need to get that. Let's try to figure it out soon. I is all I have to say, I'm not gonna read too much into it'cause it's just one game and
Jerrell:One game.
Will:the three points. If we were a draw, maybe I'd be talking a little bit different. But for now we did what we had to do to win and got our goal early.
Jerrell:Yeah. Spoiler though, man, United
Christian:It's,
Jerrell:Man, United and Wolves
Will:Game script. These teams need a, need a goal more than the other
Jerrell:man. United Wolves are the only teams to not take points at home. So
Will:for our
Jerrell:yeah, spoiler. Newly ascended leads took on Everton and they get a win. One zero is a is a penalty.
Will:of our ascendant teams getting the dove. Let's go.
Christian:At that.
Jerrell:This year's gonna be different, guys.
Will:What does that mean? JI was just like, are are you, are you talking Bradford going down into existence or?
Jerrell:Brent's not going down. It's gonna be the wolves and westham going down.
Will:gotta clip that.
Jerrell:Yep.
Will:leads United are able to win one oh off a penalty in the second half Lucas and, and MEChA their new signing. He's able to get a goal. Tight handball. Tight handball call is all I have to really add to it. But leads United definitely the deserved winners of the matches if you ask
Jerrell:Oh, they dominated it? Yeah. They're like, this statue was crazy. I was just like, did Everton show up?
Will:E Everson their coach after the game kind of complaining, just like he's playing Neto. He is not crazy about Neto. He is disparaged and brought foreign press, but he just playing with what he has grish. I don't think he got full burn in this game, but they just look toothless. So it looks like a little bit more of the problems that we saw towards the end of last season without the investment to get back. So we'll see. We'll see. We'll see. But leads United, they're able to get the win at home. You look to see, I'm sure the supporters were happy to see it as well.
Jerrell:Celebrating,
Will:Celebrate it.
Jerrell:Will be home next week though, in their, at their new fancy stadium.
Will:it's fancy now. Change them
Jerrell:oh yeah, they made it worse.
Will:shit. Mercy.
Christian:Not Molly bushels
Will:did we wanna do a impromptu winners and losers or we just wanna skip to the preview?
Jerrell:I could give you a winner. I can give you a loser.
Christian:and my winner
Jerrell:Go.
Christian:be Rick Charleston
Jerrell:Yeah.
Christian:Brace Like you. Like we mentioned earlier, he, lot of look up lot to look up to from a lot left wanting from last season came out strong. Amazing goals. Shout out to kudos for making an impact right away with the first assist. But yeah, Rick Charleston had an amazing weekend. That was a great goal.
Jerrell:Yeah, I'll double up on that and just say T them as a whole, just getting the three points is a huge win for them. New manager, I, just big just to come in and like, all right, we want to win. Let's prove we can win. We're not 17th place team. So yeah, T them winner.
Will:Cool. Look at this. We got so much better than we were last year guys, before I remember last year, we were like motherfucking my winner definitely gonna be the ascendant teams. Two of them able to get a win on their opening weekend at home. Last year we were on Southampton watch where we were waiting to see if they'd break 11 points. So two of those teams able to get wins against teams that have been in the league. Wes team's been up for a while. Everson's been up for a while, seeing those two teams hit the ground running. Hopefully the relegation race is a little bit more interesting this year, and maybe we see some new teams stay up this year, so I'm gonna go ahead and give it to our ascendant teams. Do I, do I get to double back on losers or.
Jerrell:Yeah, go ahead.
Will:yeah. My losers is gonna be my catfish because I believed in you last year. Not my catfish no more that's in my past, but Westham I hope you have a plan. I like watching the Hammers play. I think there's sound there, but getting three owed by newly ascendant team, probably not the plan initially. Westham is gonna be my losers for this week.
Jerrell:Yeah, so my losers, I mentioned already before is it's gonna be man United and the wolves not getting points at home. It's just. You all teams out.
Will:God.
Jerrell:So yeah, you all teams out.
Will:Drill, drill, drill doesn't go fuck about your circumstances this year. I like
Jerrell:Not at all.
Will:I'm moving differently.
Jerrell:You get a point, you get three points. There's no zero points. You can't do that to the supporters. They're waiting all summer for this.
Will:Playing a good second and third place teams for last year. I love the energy drill.
Christian:My loser, my loser's going to be yodi. Just,
Will:is.
Christian:yeah.
Will:back on the other side.
Christian:Yeah. No, just for this week, Yoko just did like his first Premier League game. He couldn't even get a shot on goal. He played most of the match, but yeah, no you, you, that's most,
Will:No, you are right. I just wanted to make sure that no one thought it was 85, but yeah.
Christian:that is most but yeah, he couldn't get a shot on goal. He just seemed flat footed out on the pitch. He, he. it just wasn't a good showing out for yo. it's only, there's only one way to go up here from here and that's up hopefully. Yeah, yo Dish, my loser of the week.
Will:Damn harsh. Hey, it's your loser. I just wanted to like, have discussion I guess. Our midfield looked like we couldn't string two, three passes together as well. I think Otto Guard's the only one who had like a good game and even then he was still turning the ball over in portions. How much of that do you think contributed to Yoko? How much do you think it was just kinda there might have to be an adjustment with the style to play as well. Arsenal last year a lot would see a lot of low blocks as they played with control and then they, that we almost joked about them having to pass it into the net a little bit unless they have a little bit creation out the wings from someone. Do you think it's like yo Kadesh just like not meshing with that style completely. You think it's changed in like dynamics? Do you think they're trying to switch more transitory to fit the way he plays so he can get the runs in behind and out wide or.
Christian:Ju has had what is it like about a month now to mesh? He's had a few games already under his belt. He's had a few practice sessions. His practice sessions. He looks like he connects pretty well with nor Guard. But yeah, just overall the team did not do well. You're right. O ode, guard. I think I told you Gerald Dur, while we were watching the game that I was like, I, I wasn't a fan of Iota Guard was playing either. He did give up the ball a lot. There was, there was a lot of moments where they just didn't complete the last pass. There was like, you, you would see Yoko doesn't make a run behind the line but Arsenal kind of defaulted just passing it out to the wings like they're, they're used to instead of playing
Jerrell:Allergic to the center. Yeah.
Christian:Yeah. So it, it was, it was bad all around. For, for the feed that people prefer would be okay. You, you would, you want some At least more physicality, more, more awareness, more at least a shot on goal.
Will:He ran over to Lit, like completely big bodied him. I, ode Guard created I ode Guard to me, it's funny. For me, I thought he did the best, like creation wise. I thought Rice and Zubie had a pretty quiet game for midfield. I know Ode Guard had moments where he was. know, turning the ball over in midfield, but I felt like he was the only one with like incisive passes a lot of the game. But that disconnect too between even how we see it. It could be just like I, maybe the midfield just wasn't fully clicking. Yo Kash does have to be better. I think. Like he tripped over his own dribble when he had a opportunity. So you hope it meshes as well. Hey, it has the best of us.
Christian:Yeah,
Will:but yeah, especially with Haard going down, the pressure's going to amp up. I guess the only thing I'll add is yeah.
Christian:I do wanna see Arsenal play more down the middle. Get more passes down the middle. I think we've, we've been defaulting a lot to just passing out to the wings. Just how we make got most of the goals last season. Just pass it out to where you got SOC out there. You got Martin Elliot out there, hopefully you can
Will:those are our, those are our boys.
Christian:They're our
Will:He's my star boy.
Christian:boys.
Will:yeah, so we'll see. We'll see.
Jerrell:We're adopting a third
Will:is always also just gonna have to deal with the fact that you're not gonna see a team really try to play too high up on Arsenal. I feel like, I feel like a lot by default is that low block, which makes it a little bit tougher. But hopefully, hopefully, hopefully we see a, a reh explosion soon,
Jerrell:maybe sooner than later. Let's find out. We got match day two. Preview gonna be, yeah. So I can clip it.
Will:leads is gonna get fucked on at the Emirates. You already here clip it.
Christian:Yoga is gonna be mentioned on all winners and losers. It's just which side? Who knows?
Will:Hmm? It's a coin flip, but you
Jerrell:All right.
Will:Day two preview drill.
Jerrell:Match day two. So we have the hammers taking on Chelsea. Neither scored goals. Who's gonna score first guys and then.
Will:Tim, hold on.
Christian:I'll put money that it's on Chelsea.
Will:Yeah,
Jerrell:Man, city versus m We talked about how Tottenham, they got the feel good win against the ascended team, Inver League. Now they're gonna play Man City on the same side. We're like, oh man, city beats wolves, who we were used to seeing down at the bottom. How does this matchup go? We'll find out. Maybe it's one of your guys' matches. Watch. It could be a banger. It could literally be a bard. Me. Let's find out. Board myth takes on wolves. That will be something I no comment.
Will:That's crazy. fucking wild.
Jerrell:The ascendancy battle will be Burnley in in Sutherland. Fun one. Beford will take on Ashton Villa Arsenal will take on leads. Crystal Palace V Forest, Everton v Brighton, Brighton, Foland V Man, United New Castle v Liverpool. The New Castle v Liverpool game looks a little different now compared to last year.
Will:Yeah, winner. Winner Keeps the boy.
Christian:It'd be crazy if Estock shows up to the game wearing
Jerrell:That's the agreement.
Will:We're playing Esoc, playing for Esoc. Pink slips, bro. What, what games are we excited for this weekend? Gu?
Jerrell:Give me, gimme the man city Tottenham game. Actually, I, I do wanna, I wanna check in on,
Will:expecting you to say Burnley. Cilo, but yeah, Manchester City sprays. What you looking forward to watching?
Jerrell:I just wanna see what this to team looks like. With the more competitive team, a Power Six team with Thomas Frank in charge
Will:Mm-hmm.
Jerrell:how competitive they are, how they spread the ball, how they're able to attack. And then let's see if Man City's back, like I mean that conversation's gonna continue or Man City gonna be one, two competing for that title again. I know this game went, this tie went back and forth last season. I think Tottenham did get a win off Man City.
Will:got a big ass one. They won four. Oh.
Jerrell:Yeah, this will be a fun one'cause they're retooled and both sides ready to go.
Will:Yeah, so last season ham knocked its Manchester City out of the Carrabelle Cup, October 30th, three weeks later they, Boston four. Oh. They lost one oh in February, but that was also when they were a little bit more injury ridden. Yeah, we'll see man. City retold man city will be at home. So Spurs have to contend with that, but we'll see if they can follow that positive energy from their win this week versus Manchester City's positive energy coming from this week. Dare I say, I'm rooting for Spurs this weekend. I don't know.
Jerrell:Yeah. Fuck City.
Christian:Gimme a
Will:is.
Christian:Gimme a tie. I'm rooting for no one to have fun.
Will:I want a zero
Jerrell:Zero. Zero.
Will:zero zero game. Not even any rereads or yells, just
Jerrell:I want a penalty off the woodwork.
Will:I want them to sky it. Those are more debilitating, I feel when you just, Ooh,
Christian:it's,
Jerrell:What about you guys matches you're looking forward to?
Christian:I'm looking forward
Will:go.
Christian:Crystal Palace versus the trees.
Jerrell:Oh,
Christian:be a.
Will:Gimme the bar.
Jerrell:the Bark
Will:fucked him up.
Christian:The tricky trees at the sensational
Jerrell:Spark.
Christian:not good. Mm-hmm. I
Will:Eagles. Eagles. Eagles.
Jerrell:The Eagles
Christian:Eagles.
Jerrell:Bright Brighton is the,
Will:the brey breezy EEGs? No. We'll, we'll, we'll workshop it, fix it, and post.
Jerrell:Yeah. But yeah, that one,
Christian:Yeah. A good mid table battle. Palace. I, I'm curious to see if they could maintain, like the defense they showed up against Chelsea
Jerrell:oh man, them eagles are gonna land in the forest and make it.
Will:Up, bricked up. E.
Christian:Rick UPS is crazy, but no, nine four had a really good for first game. I'm excited to see if Chris Wood Con continue that. I'm, I really wanna see the new signing. James McAfee, when he did play for Man City last last year, he had written some really good games. Excited to see him start for it. And
Will:I, will MCee
Jerrell:Yes, quite
Will:carry on?
Jerrell:well.
Will:sorry. no. Carry on. Christian, he was spitting. He was spit. I just said MCee. I was just, I wasn't sorry. Intrusive thought.
Christian:No, but I, I I feel like force is gonna eke out a win on that one. Probably. It is gonna be a close game. But yeah, it should be a pretty solid game to watch.
Will:palace with that midweek fixture as well. Let's see if it affects them. Is, are they still on the team by this
Jerrell:Welcome to European competition. Does that affect if you watch it or not?
Will:Jesus Christ. Outside the game I'm looking for, I wanna see the Derland game. Cinder Lynn has a chance to that. Why do you love cider has a chance to start their season on six points. That, that when you come to
Jerrell:Of the table. Top of the table.
Will:not what, that's not necessarily where my brain's at. But six points to start off your season, that's a great platform to try to avoid that relegation spot. I know.
Jerrell:You've already scored three, so
Will:I know
Jerrell:three more?
Will:the bottom three last year, it wasn't really close by the end of the season, but you're really looking around like that 25, 30 point range. So you can talk about being safe. So starting the season off off six, this, them getting that surprise result last week and then getting to play against a fellow team on the ascendancy could be a good big week for Zender
Jerrell:Mexican Twitter will go crazy.
Will:Soul. We're only drinking soul this weekend, boys.
Jerrell:No model.
Will:Hmm. Yeah, I'll pencil you guys in for sure. Any other games you guys are interested in looking at?
Jerrell:Always brentford.
Will:I thought you were gonna say Arsenal, but
Christian:He only has one season
Jerrell:That's a given
Christian:Give it to him.
Jerrell:and then the pod will be a premier championship pod.
Will:crazy.
Jerrell:But yeah, obviously Arsenal Brentford for me as well,
Christian:we always gotta watch Arsenal. We are Arsenal fans and yeah, hopefully we take the lead on early.
Will:Hmm,
Jerrell:piece, another corner. Yeah.
Will:hmm. Cool. Cool. Excited for it this weekend. Other things going on? So it won't be this Thursday. Following Thursday, August 28th, we get those league phase draws for the Champions League. Go ahead and put that in early. That is a shit show to watch, but I will be penciling time out for that.
Jerrell:And
Will:anything you guys want to touch on for this
Jerrell:yeah, and Will said, crystal Palace will be playing midweek. When is that again? Lemme give you a date tomorrow. Tomorrow the 21st of August at 3:00 PM Catch it. I don't know who they're playing. Fr Fredericks dad. Yeah. Good luck to Crystal Palace.
Will:Yeah. Next week we'll go over those match day two Revolt salts. We'll have a match, day three pick review. Maybe we'll touch on that league phase draw just to see what potential matchups could be fun or maybe who's strongest on each spot. Some more winners, losers. Anything else you guys wanna add?
Jerrell:Yeah. Did, did you see Palaces of Jerseys? You see the away kids? Did you watch the game?
Will:The gold
Jerrell:The gold kits.
Will:did. I did.
Jerrell:Yes. Very nice.
Christian:Oh
Will:I liked them. Yeah, I did.
Jerrell:Alright, cool. That's all I got.
Will:No, when you were saying it the internet kind of lagged out a little bit, so it all came together late. So that's why I was just like, yes. But I did see them. I did see them. I was like, oh, those are the little kids show I was talking about. Yeah. The we, I wouldn't know anything about that'cause they won tr they won trophies. so
Christian:of third kits, did you see Sutherland's third kit of Black Cats?
Jerrell:I have not seen it,
Christian:Black?
Will:just like, maybe if you guys wanted to do the kit episode,
Christian:actually
Jerrell:I don't think it was official when at that point they're already leaking the, the fucking 26, 27 kits for Arsenal.
Will:Barcelona's wearing their fucking third kit from last year because all of their jerseys there's like issues with the, the overlapping colors. So they were gonna wear orange kits but they were like, they might look too close. Like red kits shout Majorca. They got two reds in the first half last week. That was tough for them.
Jerrell:All right. I think. I think we're done. I think that's it. Kit talk
Will:episode. Good
Jerrell:always. Perfect. We did it. This was the overreaction episode.
Will:I felt like we were appropriately reacting, but you're right. You're right.
Jerrell:All right. See you guys next week. Peace.
