And we started This is the football fellas. Go ahead. No, I was like, this is our intro music wa gu
Christian:yeah, this was not rehearsed at all.
Will:It is February 12th, 2026. 7 47 Eastern time. It's been a a lot going on. Christian setting a very sensual chess bongo right now in front of me. Football Fellows, episode 63. I think it's season two, episode 18. We probably miscounted at some point 493 days in counting
Christian:I have no,
Will:big. No good afternoon.
Christian:I have pretty solid noise suppression on, on this mic, so I have no idea if the chest bond goes, came through.
Will:But I, I screen recorded. So go ahead and head over to our Patreon where you can see Christian hit a very smooth chess bongo. Christian plays many instruments. I think
Christian:one of them.
Will:two is definitely chess, bongo. Yeah, it's, it's honestly impressive. So this week we're gonna be covering match day 25, 26. We had a, we had a double whammy of a weekend, 20 football games. So easy to go over.
Christian:Yeah. We
Will:we'll
Christian:don't have jobs.
Will:on some UCL coming up, fa cup coming up this weekend. We have socials, what are they? Christian
Christian:Socials are football fellows on just about everything. You wanna ski at us? We'll ski right back at you. We,
Will:Skeet.
Christian:we have Twitter, we have Instagram, we have blue Sky. We have a website
Will:where we skeet.
Christian:eating all day.
Will:Because you said skeet with no context. I was like, Hmm.
Christian:They don't need context. That's for the Patreon. And we also have Gmail. If you wanna hit us up with some questions and stuff, pull up a PO box eventually, hopefully, maybe.
Will:a PO box would be,
Christian:That'd be insane.
Will:Hmm hmm. You heard to hear first
Christian:I'm cheap. I'm cheap.
Will:Do you have the new locations?
Christian:The new locations.
Will:It's always on the dock, but
Christian:Yeah.
Will:thing. He is not here currently. Me and Christian are in right now. Darrell's gonna join us at some point. He was getting a pump in somewhere. He said, Hey, I'm running a little bit late. He's still not here. So the, the kids are
Christian:We're out here.
Will:know, school's out. We have no supervision. And we've already said you can ski at us on mic. This will be posted. Jerrell will not edit it in post. Can't confirm. That being said, no new locations. Couple things to touch on. We'll go into some Coach Fi firings. We had a couple go this week. I, I tried to do the dun, like I should have done the SVU noise. It's fine. Couple things to note. Hamus, the pride of Columbia. My second favorite, probably my third favorite Colombian soccer player. He's gone. Looney,
Christian:you said soccer player because I was like second favorite Colombian. I was like, whoa. That's,
Will:big
Christian:a,
Will:huh?
Christian:yeah.
Will:being, imagine being you're the second favorite Rodriguez in your own household, bro. It's crazy. Self ducks. But yeah, Hammes Rodriguez said. I want the code. What, what's, what's happening on, what's happening with
Christian:Everybody knows Hamus performs his best in the cold, right? Correct.
Will:for
Christian:In Madrid. But he was like, nah, too warm, too nice out here, too hot. He did great in Germany with Bayer won, won some chip there. And then man just got frost bin. I don't know. Dude doesn't like the code. He.
Will:he said it was too
Christian:Yeah, so I'm not sure. I'm just g glad the MLS high Miss Saga is over because he got linked to 10 teams in a month. It was, it was a little crazy. So I'm just glad it's over. It came out of nowhere unexpectedly. Tom Bober, I think, is the one who reported the news, or like he broke the news. Something like that, some time out there.
Will:Yeah.
Christian:But yeah it's a pretty good contract. It's 600,000 600,000 until the end of June. With an option to finish the season for another 600,000. It works for both Minnesota and Hamus. Hamus gets a good pay chunk, like I think it comes out to around 40 KA game, which is nice. 40 KA game, can't complain. And yeah, and if you, if you perform forms well, then Minnesota is gonna go ahead and keep'em. I don't know if they play in a dome, do they? Have we confirmed that?
Will:Maybe, maybe they play where I don't know where they play. Do they play at the Target center? For me it just really seemed just oh, it's a even number year. Gotta get ready for the World Cup. Gotta get my fitness, my legs under me. Ideally, yeah, let's see if he ends up being a long-term loony, but, club hummus and for my country hummus, two different guys. So let's see what they get from him. He definitely still has quality gamut. A free kick, dead ball situation. He's still gonna do a lot. He creates a lot for guys. But I feel like this is hummus being like, Hey, I'm still gonna, keep my legs fresh. Stay, stay ready for the World Cup coming up in a few months. The fact that there's an option on top of that sit. So if, we'll see how it goes, but I feel like hummus in the league, hopefully we get the best version of hummus, but I don't think their jerseys are yellow, blue, and red. So we'll see. We'll see. But cool. I added this note being positive heading into it.'cause I was like, we always talk about, and I know we're a Premier League podcast. I like all soccer. I really like Spanish soccer. I fucked up Christian. Co ray semi-finals. First leg was this week, yesterday. Athletic club and Rails decide. Great game. Oh one result. Can't wait for that second leg. When I tell you my brother in Christ. I don't often turn games on. And yes, I was at work while I was on the background, but I don't think I've seen a bar get dicked like this in a long time. And I thought I was thinking about it. I was just kind of like, last, last year we went down too on them, came back, eight two, always a good one. But hey, we fought back for a little bit, at least. But Barton pretty much just own goal. Six minute Grisman Goal. Alvarez Goal. Adam. Lman goal. It was bad. It was bad. It wasn't
Christian:You have a good time.
Will:pitch. I was not having a good time. Players were slipping and falling everywhere. Pitch, apparently it was raining for 10 days straight. The pitch did look like shit, but at the same time, oh four in the first half. Bad time, bad
Christian:Yeah,
Will:bad. Had
Christian:I didn't,
Will:Cado subbed in the 36. It was painful.
Christian:catch the game, so when I, when I was reading the docket, I just glimpsed over and I was like, oh damn bars. So beat four zero crazy. And then I saw it was the other way around and I was just like a small,
Will:Nope. Nope,
Christian:a small smirk formed on my face.
Will:Yeah, I get it. I get it. I was like, Christian's gonna love this. I was like, I should call out. I should call out on this one. And we'll get there. But I surely, in my head I was like, barcelona laws, but there's no way. Both my teams let me down today and we'll get there in the docket. Anything else you wanna touch on before we touch on this match week?
Christian:No, bro, just these, I dunno if you can hear it. Can you confirm?
Will:I don't, I can hear it. I don't know if they're gonna hear it in post, but that's why you gotta put the video. We're just shoulder rolling. Uh uh. Drew, you fucked up. Cool. I'll hit match 8 25. We'll, we'll unsupervised. You fucked up. My favorite part is that he's gonna have to go back, edit this and he's just gonna hear, just silence and have you breathing. All right. Cool. Match 8 25. We'll touch on that real quick then we'll slide through match day 26 to midweek fixtures. First match leads United versus Nottingham Forest ends three, one for leads. Leads took a three oh goal lead in the first half. Good bounce back after tough result against Arsenal. Was that last week or the week before? Hmm. going soon. Nottingham Forest, we'll put a pin in that because we have more news on them coming up. Arsenal Sunderland Arsenal followed up on a 4 0 1 with a three oh win. They beat Sunderland Zu Mendy. He scores only bangers. He scored a bangers to get the first one. Yo. Kadesh was able to add a brace in the 69th and like 91st minute, if I remember correctly. This considering a trend of arsenal controlling a lot of the matches over the last few weeks. After a tough run of formula that capped with that Manchester United loss, man U Spurs two nothing. And just like that, Bo wins Christian Romero. He catches Ru and Beo and Fernand. They are able to sail a four straight win for Man U Spurs. Seven games, winless put a pin in that. We're gonna circle back to that burn. Ms. Villa won one Burnley versus we Ham ended up oh two. Oh God, my catfish is coming back full versus Everton. Ended up in a one two. Ty tie in favor of Everton. Wolves. Chelsea ends one three as Cole Palmer gets a first half hat trick off with two penalties. Wolves looking hapless in that match. Newcastle B Brentford ends two three for the busy bees. Darrell's Dre's. Other team playing well, Bradon Powells ends oh one and Liverpool Man City. What a game. Just watch at least the last 20 minutes ends one, two for Man City because they just wouldn't die. their first one at Anfield since 2003. I realized as I was going through that I was discussing it and I was like, that's not the format we do and this is why, so for the first three or four, I was just reading my notes and I was like, wait, wait, wait. So that's why that was uneven and inconsistent, Christian. And feel free to touch on any of'em. Hey, we're nothing if not accountable. Feel free to touch on anything that I started to go over by
Christian:I'll touch whatever I want.
Will:Hey. What matches caught your, caught your eye this week?
Christian:I think, uh uh, we talked about it last week. How weird kind of. Less of a EPL podcast and more of a that guy's hairs podcast, the United Strand. So naturally the Manu Spurs game was going to be like one to watch over the weekend. They beat the Spurs like you mentioned, after a red card, Romero and Manu just, just, man, he was ready. He had the clippers ready. He, he had the appointment. He was sitting in a chair. 1 0 8, 1 oh, nothing bad can possibly happen.
Will:What could
Christian:Who do you play next?
Will:Thomas Frank West Westham coming up next, later on the dock. We'll see how that
Christian:Yeah, bro. West Westham, the Westham, who's currently sitting 18, bro, there's no way this is, this is the,
Will:Hill.
Christian:this is the one man. You could easily win it.
Will:I forgot if there were three or four at this point, or I think there were three or four. I'm not sure. But yeah, it was funny. After the game, Thomas Frank and what spoiler was some of his last press conference moments with his team he was like, I, I feel like Christian Romero, he does a good job. He doesn't, get carded more than any other guy. And then someone in the presser was like, Christian Romero has been carded six times since you joined. Yeah, and it's like the most by anyone. And Thomas Frank, not, not a great moment when he just looked at him, looked like deer in the headlights, I didn't know that. Not what I wanna hear
Christian:That's crazy.
Will:I want you to back me, but I also wanted you to know, when I'm stepping out. Spurs continue to, spurs. There's seven games Winless at this point, at this point with room to grow,
Christian:25.
Will:next match day. Match 8 26 coming soon. But yeah, Manchester United, Michael, Karen comes in and just doing. this is, obviously outside of the Strand, right? This has been the mo best run of form consistently we've seen for Manchester Unite, I think, since we started the Pod
Christian:Yeah. It's been a while. I don't think they've ever gotten this close to before. That guy to cut his hair.
Will:Yeah, yeah. I, I saw his name and I was like, Ew. Not'cause of his name, but I wanna know him as the Strand.
Christian:Yeah, I, I don't even know what his name is. I just, I, I vaguely remember the United Strand. I mostly just remember the guy that hasn't cut his hair in so long. Side note, somebody did a version of that for Colombian teams. It was like, how long your hair would be if you did this, the five game challenge. I don't wanna talk about the results. It made me really sad. It made me really sad.
Will:many, how many
Christian:Gotti hasn't won. Five games,
Will:fuck. I thought you meant the
Christian:games, Uhuh.
Will:I was like, they're spaced out. Oh,
Christian:Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're fighting. We're fighting relegation. And for our listeners, Colombian relegation is not like every year, it's a running average of the last three or five years. So it's really fucking weird how the relegation in Columbia works. And right now we've just been consistently, consistently not good. So we're like in, we're at the end of each league. They do the, the average, the running average in points and we're not looking too good.
Will:How long do you have to be relegated before you can go back up?
Christian:I think go back up. I don't know. Honestly, I don't know because I've never had to worry about that a day.
Will:about
Christian:Like
Will:Yeah.
Christian:we're not like the other team from Gali, they're the ones that went that relegated already, I think for five years. Fucking buns. We've never had to worry about that, but now we kind of like the last few years we've been having to worry about it. We just signed Eno who's who was our nine when we won the, the chip in 20 18, 19. We got fucking,
Will:my guy. Yeah,
Christian:Yeah. Yeah, bro. I'm not, I'm not worried. This is a Oh, and yesterday we lost we lost to the new team that fucking Ryan Reynolds bought.
Will:Rex,
Christian:Yeah. There's a Colombian.
Will:other team they bought?
Christian:Yeah.
Will:there's a Columbia Resom. Oh.
Christian:Yeah. He bought like a team that was like, has been around for a long time. They rebranded. They're gold now. It's fucking stupid. But yeah, we lost it to death. It hurt. It hurt. But yeah. 2022 was the last time GDI has won five games straight. So three years
Will:Okay. was the Christian Colombian corner? Yeah. Yeah. Drum's gonna be like, so y'all, y'all rambled for 15 minutes and you talk, you went through one match day and you talk mostly about Spanish leagues and Colombian leagues and
Christian:it was a problem.
Will:Chest bundles as well, and I, I have no problems with it, other big result, I wanted to shout out that MH Villa 1 1 1. Ran, we talked about him last week a little bit more. He hit a big equalizer for the mh in the second half. And Villa their title, chances took a hit on the road. Emmy Martinez had a really good game. He had some key saves late. To, salvage the split. But villa looking, a little shakier and that title Chase looking a little wonkier a lot of the season left to go,
Christian:Yeah, we got what, like 13 games left?
Will:13, 12, something like that. You
Christian:Yeah.
Will:Where we're at right now? We have 13, and then by the time we, by the end of this episode, we'll be, we'll have 12 left. Yeah, shit's Bailey scaly
Christian:yeah,
Will:as a wise man would say.
Christian:we're not doing so how, but obviously the other good game or big game of the week was Liverpool Man City. We were rooting for you Liverpool. I've never, I'll never do it again. I'll never do it. This was your chance.
Will:I had flashbacks, sova, sly. Literally I saw the free kick. I was like, oh, that's Sova Sly Lange, bro. And I had flashbacks in September when he lined up and he was just kind of like, Hmm. Yes, yes. Lemme get my ankles right and right as he went to take it. I was watching off my phone'cause I was somewhere I got a call from our good friend Joseph Kane. Oh fuck Docs Joseph and Joseph.
Christian:Where does he work?
Will:huh?
Christian:Where does he work?
Will:Be they, we really need a soundboard. And he calls me and we're going over just like some plans later in the day, since the Super Bowl was this weekend or whatnot. This is where we're meeting up. This address once again is on the Patreon. Once you have it, once you have permanent invite to Dre's annual Super Bowl party, as long as he lives there.'cause he's probably not gonna move. And literally went back and I was like, as I'm talking to him, I checked, I was like, did he hit that goal? Amazing. I was like, Joe, you ruined it. I watched the replay while on the phone with him. It was a beautiful. Free kick from deep. He once again got the angle just right, plugged it off the, off the inside post, back across his other side net. It was beautiful. And that was like, I know how this goes. Liverpool took a one oh lead. They're just gonna choke the life out of Man City. Slowly making me really excited because Bar Arsal had won yesterday. No, Christian, because then I hung up the phone with Joe, right? You know what the first thing I saw?
Christian:What was the.
Will:Bernardo Silvas. Cheeky ass sneaking a goal, a well worked goal very well on side. I was like, okay, I can live with the draw. And then do you know what happened?
Christian:What.
Will:Allison lost his fucking mind. I know on Tuesday, Alison, I don't know, he's making it say no. He, he, he lost his fucking mind. It was a clean pen. I thought. I was like, it was technically a foul. He didn't have to do all that because I don't think the shot that was taken would've ended up on goal. And then you have early Holland lining up for a goal while he's in a little bit of a gold drought. And when I say he, he tow, fuck the fuck outta that penalty. And he placed it just perfect. And my fucking hopes and dreams were shattered a little bit. Because I was like, surely they dropped points in the middle of the week and surely Arsal stays up. I was sad for a moment.
Christian:So the sadness just lasted for, it was a prolonged sadness.
Will:Just not a good week, man. It really just felt like over the last couple weeks, we talk about RSA a lot, that we had a, we had a couple of moments in time where either our games or our oppositions game where like we really could have just grabbed this, this title, race by the neck. Just nine points, 10 points clear. And for one reason or another it just didn't happen, you
Christian:Our, our last run of form hasn't been the greatest. We've only been able to win two, two games outta the last five. We took what, eight points out of the last five with two draws and a loss. What was our loss to
Will:United,
Christian:Oh yeah.
Will:I can't stress enough. They beat city. They beat United spurs. Was it Spurs? I know they're on a slide and then they got, what's the other game they won, actually? Are they trash? No, they're not trash. Who'd they beat last week? Christian, help me.
Christian:Menu. You can scroll down in our doc.
Will:that's what I'm trying to do, but I didn't leave notes. Oh, they beat full of'em last week as well. Three, two, and a barn
Christian:Yeah.
Will:went away. Went away. Only west him to go. But yeah, just a good run for them. Can't stress it off. They did us a favor and then they did us a reserve, a reverse favor, but. Yeah. Yeah, but outside of that,
Christian:Nothing crazy. We can move on to match day 26. Unless you want to touch up on more games in here. Oh, oh, am I soloing this?
Will:No, I'm, I'm still here. Sorry. Oh,
Christian:Oh,
Will:let's, let's go to match Day 26. I did wanna shout b Brentford dangle with a. a late goal for Brentford on the road to move them into a tie on the table with Liverpool at that point.
Christian:hold up. I am.
Will:Oh no. We can't have technical difficulties. I don't know how to fix that.
Christian:Nah, it's cool. For some reason, the audio is no longer coming from my headphones, but it's coming from the. Computer. All right, we're good. We can still rock. As long as you guys can hear me.
Will:Okay. Of course you guys, yes, we're all here.
Christian:Everyone's here. Everyone's having a good, all right, moving
Will:that being said, take 26.
Christian:match. Day 26. We have Chelsea Leeds at the Draw. Two Two Draw. Everson Mout. Bem moh. Got two one over. Everton Newcastle beat dispersed to one. Ah, man, you man, you, this was your chance. This was your chance to cut the hair, but you lost to West Ham Unfor. I'm sorry you didn't lose. You Tied to West Ham. Aston Villa B. Brighton one Zero. Crystal Palace lost two three to Burnley Man. City destroyed Fullham do.
Will:Zero. Zero. Forest Slopes was zero.
Christian:Forest wool. Zero. Zero. Ooh. Battle at the bottom, Sunderland, Liverpool. What was the score on that one? The docket wasn't complete.
Will:one. Oh damn. I hold you. Yep. It was one. Nothing. Liverpool.
Christian:Ah, now they decide to win. And then heartbreak from about five hours ago. Arsenal one, one versus Brentford. It wasn't a great game. It wasn't a great game. I think we had a total of two shots on goal. I'm just gonna dive right into the pain. Yeah. Arsenal just did not have a good game. There's we're, we're not creating we had Yoko who had a I think a brace in one of the previous games. He couldn't, I don't even think he had a shot at, on shot all Game. Joe started, got the start at the top. He also didn't do anything. We didn't, I don't believe we had a shot on goal at all in the first half. It was just, just, just a disgusting game all around. No. Noni was able to get a header off in the first minute after incap cross to take us into the one zero lead and then 10 minutes later they equalized on, on a long throw in. So it was not great. And even after that, there was a couple chances from both sides to be able to come up with the winner
Will:Martinelli late, had a tough state by Kelleher.
Christian:death. Yeah. It, it was not, it was not great. And it, it's, it's, it's annoying, right?'cause we have pieces, we have, we have depth, but for some reason we're just not able to score.
Will:Yeah. Ode Guard out missing the last two games. He came in at half. We had a little bit more of a pep in or step at that point, but it's just like a little bit. Arsenal not getting their, their nutrients in, right? They're up one. Oh, and at that point you expect them to hold it. But Brentford has been very game they were able to equalize and there just wasn't enough creation in this one. So it's like kind of the other side of just kind of like that match control. But sometimes we've seen it a couple times over the last month where, they'll fly seven over their last two games coming into this. And then this one where it's just wasn't much creation going on. Fucking title race is on four points between arsenal and Man City now. So woo woo. Not worried though. Raiders Shine. Dover Glue. We're here.
Christian:It's been a lot of, a lot of, lot of gloom. Unfortunately. It, it just hasn't been great. What, we're at four points right now, sorry.
Will:It could be worse.
Christian:Audio difficulties here. There might be some feedback or echoes unfortunately, on the recording halfway through just because of the,
Will:I think we sound fine. Power through it. Fuck it.
Christian:But yeah, we, at the end of the whistle for last week, we had a nine point lead. Now we only have a four point lead man. City has been able to when three draw one in the last five, they lost one. They, they, what is that? 10 points compared to our eight points in the last in the last two weeks or in the last five weeks? It just hasn't been great. Arsenal just doing what Arsenal did last year where it was, we, we were choking. We're choking. Let it go.
Will:What the, last year we, we were just as second most of the year. I, but I get what you mean. Yeah, it's tough. Like I said, that man city result against Liverpool, that definitely feels like. It could be the turning point of something. There's a lot of football left. There's like a lot of competitions that, these teams are in and a lot of things can change. You could argue maybe arson over rotated. We'll see, we'll see a little bit more pressure on the team. And, if Manchester United a couple weeks ago wasn't a wake up call, just Hey, if you let you know your focus slip even for a moment you know what's good, this is what's gonna happen. Know what? Now that you feel a little bit of fire just kind of like bugged in on. On your ass, for lack of a better place to put it. But it could be worse because ham forests at home, they got 35 shots off against wolves and that game ended zero zero. And because of that, Sean Dykes got fired as he has two points in his last three against palace leaves and wolves. Wolves remain on panda washer now sitting at nine points. Wow. Yeah, that we've, I've been calling it that for a while, seeing if they end up with the least amount of points. In EPL history chasing Derby County, if I remember correctly.
Christian:It wasn't the Saints last week.
Will:Panda watch, huh?
Christian:It wasn't the Saints last year. They were able to escape it or did they tie it?
Will:No, they made it over. They jumped over. We celebrated everything. It's, that'd be great. So wolves, three points away, three points away. They're probably relegated. Speaking of relegation team Manchester United, as we said they tied with West Ham. West Ham getting another point. So four points this week. For West Ham and we have a little bit of a relocation battle back on. It's one thing I wanted to note. There are only three points back of Ingham Forest. Five points back of ta ham and six points back of leads. So I'm really looking at that Ingham Forest with their run of form over the last couple weeks to see if there's something sitting at 18 points. I think they're still probably cooked despite an impressive comeback today against Crystal Palace. Palace Blue, a two goal lead. Same as Chelsea who blew a two goal lead earlier in the week against leads. A lot of, a lot of intrigue up and down the table. I said, I think it's one thing we've are consistent with talking about, but this year, more than any other year, it really feels like every week a surprise result or a team that, gets a positive result against teams. Even leads being able to come back this week after getting, pre pretty much pretty well handled by Arsenal last week. I think that just shows that they're also playing like more open than most teams that get asce that hit the ascends. Not really any weak teams, I'd say. There's definitely unlucky teams looking at wolves, but, yeah, yeah, we'll, we'll see how things go throughout the rest of the rest of the year. But Brentford sitting at seventh on 40 points, Liverpool. 42 points or whatnot. There's a lot of intrigue for mid table on, there's not a lot of space between like European spots and like our lower half of the table, I'd
Christian:Yeah, that re battle is picking up. You got 15 through 18th being separated by just two games, six points, and anybody can be relegated. Shit. The. City, Northern neighbors can get relegated. Top 16. Top 16. Okay.
Will:Ryden hasn't been looking good over the last few weeks. Fabian Ler, he's been getting booed at home and they haven't gotten results. They're, there's Crystal Palace. It feels like the Groundlings falling out from underneath them. They were able to get a result over the weekend if I remember correctly, as we just went over this. But oh no, they lost a no. That that was the midweek. Yeah. They were able to get a result over the weekend. Christian helped
Christian:Yeah,
Will:Yes, they beat Brighton,
Christian:did.
Will:But I think prior to that they had lost 12 straight spurs. They've won two of their last 17. Like shit's weird out here, man. So we'll see how it goes.
Christian:Yeah, that's I, I don't remember if you touched on, but Frank definitely got, got sacked not too long ago. When was this? Was it yesterday that you fully got sacked?
Will:think it was Wednesday. Yeah, yesterday.
Christian:Damn.
Will:I think Tuesday he said I'll definitely be back for the North London Derby and the next day they
Christian:They said absolutely not. Yeah. Thomas Frank.
Will:it, I think it had to happen. Yeah.
Christian:Yeah. Especially you, you haven't won since I think December. You, he started off high. He, he started off winning three of the first four games and it looked like, it was gonna be, it was an encouraging start. I was like, all right, this is, this is, they had a good young team that they can build around. I feel like in the beginning of the year we were talking about a few pieces that were, that were. Playing pretty solid, but then just after that started, just just started falling apart. Tuesday two went home defeat against Newcastle 16th in the table. 13 wins, 11 draws and 14 losses in 38 games in charge. That's just not. You expect from a a Spurs team, they usually at least top top half of the table falling all the way down to 16th with still a lot of soccer left to play. It's crazy. It, it's crazy and it just had to happen.
Will:And post Colu. He had he was on, I forgot the name of the. The podcast, but with the Ian Wright and some other pundits and like past players or whatnot, he was on and he was talking about telling him and just remember pretty much they're not big club telling him, obviously over the last few years have had terrible injury. Look, they went into their match day this week with 11 first team players injured. They picked up like one looked like more long-term and another player who picked up a knock. So they're just been getting bit by that injury booked for a while. But post Colu said he understood he understood why they got sacked. Just their ambition doesn't match where they should be given their power six team. So he had some scathing remarks. I need to go deeper into that actual interview he did on that podcast with the enate. But it's like almost a Spurs joke a little bit, and it's just kind of like, so what's the transition?'cause they have pieces, right? They have Mohammad, kudos they have, even though he looks like he's out the door.
Christian:There for.
Will:they pick up Simonon. Yeah. And you've heard him kind of voice depl displeasure with how things are lined up. Dominic Solanki, he's not maybe like a top, top striker in the league. He's shown that he can do it in Spurs and he's is a good piece. There's pieces all around that team. It just doesn't look like, all levels of that organization just match where, what. You expect from that team on the bench. Back to another transition, back to the writing board, but in the meantime, that relegation race is heating up on you're only five points clear.
Christian:It is a crazy stat of the last 10 Spurs managers Thomas Frank ranks last in win percentage with only a 26.92% win percentage.
Will:Yeah. So it's like it's a move that had to happen. He looked like out of his depth a lot of the time there. He apparently lost the locker room,
Christian:You would say he lost his.
Will:it's, yeah, there it is. But it's tough.'cause like you said, spurs, they started the season hot, I think. We talked on the pod like a week or two after. It was like, oh, those numbers, like there's some metrics that say this might not be sustainable. They're only negative one in goal differential, so it's not like they're getting crazy outplayed on a week to week, but they're also not finding ways to eek out points. You've given out 37 goals in 26 games. You've only scored 36. I, it just middling all around. Maybe some bad luck with some results here and there, but. You're, you're, you're big enough that you shouldn't be in this area of the table. There's teams with less doing more, it feels
Christian:on the flip side, they Frank's been able to navigate the spares all the way up to, I think they're sitting fourth in champion league. So they, they made it, they got an automatic buy for the next round. Yeah.
Will:fucking weird man. Fucking weird. Yeah, maybe over the next week or two we can do like a, we can look back on like our preseason predictions. We haven't had a chance to do that at all this year. I think outside of mesh day seven, just with
Christian:sure we're like
Will:of our
Christian:perfect on it, bro.
Will:we're
Christian:We're probably perfect, bro. I mean like, come on. Come on.
Will:That being said, this weekend we don't have Premier League match days. We have FA cup. I don't know, Christian, if you've had a chance to look at the slate of matches. Not sure if anything really catches your eye. South Hampton, Chester City, they'll be playing two of the teams that were relegated last year. Newcastle Liverpool Bryan are gonna be the two matches that are top flight teams playing that will be playing each other, and then Mackle Field looking to keep it alive against Darrell's other team. The bees were some games that I was pointing out. Macks Field had upset crystal Palace in the last round.
Christian:the games I'm ready for is gonna be RESO versus Ipswich.'cause Go Tractor boys. I didn't forget about you.
Will:Go.
Christian:There it is.
Will:Yeah.
Christian:And honestly, ever since they bought the ball with that team, fuck Reso. I'm not, no, no, not, not a, I'm a big anti anti rexam guy now. So let's go Ipswich.
Will:I should really dive deeper into that.'cause I know that people a fan of that outside of Boha reasons, but I haven't really dove one way or another to feel anything or
Christian:Anything about Reham or, or the Columbian League?
Will:The both, I guess by, I just learned about that 20 minutes ago. Yeah.
Christian:Oh, during the Columbia corner?
Will:The Christians Colombian corner, yes. We also have a, we do have one Premier League fixture that would probably be done by the time we record next week on the 18th. Arson wolves are being rescheduled. Why I didn't check, it could be karabell. I'm assuming Carrabelle Karabell makes sense to me, but I cannot confirm or deny either way. So that game will be played on the 18th before we record again. So we'll probably touch on that and wolves have a chance to do the funniest thing, beat pan to watch and also break my heart. Please don't do it. UCL playoffs phase leg one. I love how they just made everything longer
Christian:Yeah.
Will:difficult to say. We'll also be going on. So we have I'll just read'em out. Christian, you can talk about what games interest you outside of the obvious one. Gala Monica will be playing PSG, Ben FCA versus Ji probably a rematch of the, did I say that weird? Dottin versus Lanta. FK Kaba play in Newcastle. Bo Glimpse versus Enter versus, and then Olympiacos versus Bayer Leverkusen. Which games do you have circled? Christian?
Christian:I'm interested in just not the game itself, but watching Juventus Juventus recent years, their form has dropped. It's been interesting to watch how, how Juventus goes from being like the number one to. Team all the time for Italy. And then in the recent years, just, just just having been playing up to their, what you expect from Juventus. And it's been really fun watching Ish play ish. The Turkish, he's 20 year, he's 20 years old. I think they just signed him. They have him until 2030. And he's just fun to play, man. He, he has the same energy as when di played really well for, for Enthus. He's tall as shit. He, soccer wise, he's six two. He wears a 10 for Juventus at only 10 years. 10 years old. 20 years old, which is impressive. Giving the number 10 to a 20-year-old. But yeah, has been interesting. I think he's leading Juventus actually this year in both goals and assists, which is impressive.
Will:Okay.
Christian:Yeah, he's, he plays left wing attack midfielder. He, he is, he is been a, a fun watch over at the gen through. Shout out to Dave. I'm sure he is. Sure. He is excited about, about his play. Obviously. I'm excited.
Will:Christian. I see you Christian. Don't carry on. I was like this area corner. Okay, I see you brother.
Christian:Obviously I'm interested in raw Madrid, Benca Benca, I really. Is Richard Rios injured? I actually don't remember if Richard Rios got injured and I think he was, he suffered some type of knock, but I don't remember. If it's too serious, I might be confusing him with somebody else. But Benfica Ram Madrid is gonna be fun to watch. I got a root for just about every Colombian which is why I followed Benca a little bit. Apart from that. No, those are ma mainly the ones, oh, one thing I saw recently that I didn't like, it has nothing to do with the UCL. I don't know if you saw, I don't remember exactly the date it happened, but fans throwing explosives onto the,
Will:Oh
Christian:the goalie of the opposing team.
Will:I think I saw but I didn't know. crazy.
Christian:So obviously there's no room for that in soccer. Yeah, you can have your bar bravas and all that stuff. You can be, boisterous. You can express your, your love or your hate for your te your team's performance at any given time. But when it comes to throwing stuff that can projectiles to hurt these players, opposing players, like it's, it's, it's crazy. There's no room in that for that. And I just wanted to bring it up, but just like fucking shame. And there is. There is a big question in regards to in Italy, but when it comes to inter, I gotta send you the link. It's talking about how the, the, what's it called? The, the gangs. Gangs are involved and like how it's led by the gangs. All these like supporters sections. It's, it's crazy. It's a crazy watch. I, I gotta send you.
Will:I, I, I remember when I was like doing like some, like reading on I remember when Vic was like rumored with Arsenal, but then it, there, there's like a whole rabbit hole with yeah. The like Mafioso like how it's integrated into Kaa, the tapestry of italian football and you can see it in other leagues as well. I'm more than, more than welcome to it. We don't, I don't get to watch, we watch so much stop here, but one league that I doesn't intrigue me, that I never get a chance to watch is so any info on that? I, I'd love to hear it. I'd love to hear it.'cause I'm just trying to understand why AC Milan's not good. How Napoli so good sometimes, but then it's always just tight.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:last year they were like the tightest, contested leagues heading into the end of the season. Then obviously inter making the final last year, which was a nice surprise. Yeah. Yeah. Do you see any potential rooms for upsets here?
Christian:For upsets, honestly. Fucking Madrid. Madrid. This here just has been fucking ass, bro. It hasn't been fun watching Madrid. They just too, too many mafi, too many drama queens at, at point, and it's just we just haven't been able to like gel together. I, I, I've been just not watching them and just living off of the notifications of the goals because I've just been getting stressed watching them at times. And it's just man. Something needs to change in, in Madrid, they're not playing to the level that they're used to. So I wouldn't be surprised if Benca pulls out a win. Club Bru has always been like a good fighter. They, they've, they're always in, in, in the Champions league against ko, although KO just came off, they're, they're running the high of beating, beating Varsa four zero. I let go can transfer that over to the UCL match.
Will:Too soon. Too soon. I, bro, I'm still shook. I was watching it. I was just like, oh, that's unlucky. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. And it is just like the same way, it is just the same way. It's do you have someone who can immediately hit that diagonal cross to, into a wing? you have someone with the pace to just be in front of, be behind the ball?'cause that, that's really all it is. They, they, they did that shit perfect.'cause they just kept doing it. I still love I don't think, I don't remember if we really got to cover it, but when Bara and Byron Blade Harry Kane played himself into an onside position while never. Getting behind the center backs. And I saw, I was just like, that's the way to do it. And Athletic co just fucking did it. Also shout Adam Luman. He was someone that's I thought was worried that he missed his move to a big team after he fell out. And at Atlanta, he is been there for a few ke few years. He gotta move to Athletic Co. And, and he, he's class. He's class. I wanted him on Arsenal a few years back at some point while we were searching for a nine. But glad he made that move. But at Letgo. They've been up and down with their form, so yeah, maybe they ride the high. But Club Ruga has looked really good. I think Madrid should be okay. Even the game that they had, like the shock result against Ben fica, I think it was a little bit of, the match the match balance and like what they needed, they needed a goal at the time, and Ben Vika needed a goal so that it was a little weird at then, but I think it'll be all right just because also just you guys are in a position where the players have been backed. So now it's just kind of like if the players don't perform in some ways, shape or form, then there's no one else to take the fall since Chay, got let go. Hate your fucking coach, Joe. Fucking, fucking, if you thought fucking Hilti was a player's coach, holy shit. This guy's brown dosing. They're good. I should have done better every week. I'm just kind of like, hmm
Christian:Yeah,
Will:hmm. So this is, this is, this is, this is what we're gonna do for a while.
Christian:something's good. Update. Oh.
Will:should
Christian:on the Madrid. Shout out to, and he's his, his loan contract.
Will:Oh, he is on a journey. He is on a journey,
Christian:Yeah.
Will:brother.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:I think he already had a Hattie goal. I think he got a red card like over the weekend too. Like he's getting a
Christian:He's good, bro. It's just like
Will:and of
Christian:when you have Vinny and you have I mba, it's hard to give him minutes. But yeah, he's shut out and his, his loan contract is actually pretty interesting. I, I forgot the price of the loan itself, but every time Hendrick starts.
Will:he plays the price goes down, so he's about to be be there for
Christian:Yeah, it's gonna be a free loan.'cause they're just giving him so much minutes and rightfully he's fucking balling out. So shout out to Hendrick. I think long term Madrid does plan on keeping Hendrick. I, I, I, I, I don't,
Will:I think you're hearing that him and Nico Paz are like part of their plans next
Christian:yeah. Yeah.
Will:I mean it makes sense, but we'll see. I think that back line still needs to be tidied up. You guys are still looking for pieces cut. I don't know. I don't know if he's really worked out. And then Dean hu, his form's been a little weird, but I think you guys just need stability
Christian:Yeah.
Will:more. I heard Danny CarVal Hall might be gone, which say what I want about him because I, I, but I think he's gonna be like the last remnant of someone who held embodied like that thing at Madrid that they needed a little bit just like the right personality and standard and someone those younger guys can look, look at as just whoa. He's won so much with them. He understands how to do this. So we'll see how it goes.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:Nebulous over there,
Christian:because I don't Vinny's gray, I don't see Vinny as a captain, like the, the captain. I would put the Captain Arban on Verde myself.'cause he just has that heart. He has that nonstop motor that you like to see in a player. People respect him. Shit. If he got the approval to from Tony Ro he got the approval from me. So yeah. Verde is, is to me, is the obvious captain here. The one that is like the next generation of what we want to see in Ram Madrid. And then just everybody else just hasn't really been able it's, it's the, the, the jersey's heavy on them.
Will:Oh fuck that. I think you guys just have put a lot of weird pieces together and then you're also sending different messages for yes, the jersey is heavy, don't get me wrong. Yes, but it's also just kinda you bring all these superstars in, you're not worried about balance and you bring a guy, a coach in who's Chad Alonzo? I don't care what happened there. He is a fantastic
Christian:Yeah.
Will:wherever he ends up next, they're gonna be really fucking lucky to have him. It just the way he coaches a football team runs in the way of just the power that's been given to the players. And that's just always something's gonna, that's gonna happen at big clubs. You saw it Barcelona in the mid 2010s, late 2010s, like how that fell around. And just how those standards lowered there. And I think that's your concern where it's like you have the talent, especially your midfield, frontline. You're missing like a pa, like a. A metronome in the midfield, someone to fill the, the Tony Ro Tony, Tony Ro role. Someone like, re who can also slow a game down and isn't just just hey, I have pace, I have runs. But you also need accountability with your pressing right. And right now. Shit's weird, but hey, you guys are still getting results, right? So I'm sure by end of April we might be having a different conversation depending how those Wednesday nights go.
Christian:Yeah.
Will:we'll see how it goes throughout the season.
Christian:But yeah. Back to UCL, one thing I forgot to mention and I'd like to mention O and Le Houston, they've actually met before about in the UCL.
Will:Hey,
Christian:Not too long ago, like in this, this year's UCL, they played each other and ing Bianco's got a two zero win over Bay cus and so that's gonna be an interesting game to watch. Both those games are gonna be interest. Interesting to watch the home NOA see if Baron can get some payback.
Will:Atlanta. Circle two actually. I'm excited to watch those teams go at it.
Christian:Yeah, so much football. I love it.
Will:Oh, it was fun. Always fun. Always fun. anything else you wanna touch on with U-C-L-U-C-L for the time being? I don't think Terrell's gonna make it.
Christian:No. He, he messaged us. He said he is, he is doing some chores.
Will:I didn't know that was an option. Cool. That being said, anything else you want to touch on before we start our goodbye? So long of do
Christian:No. Fuck ice.
Will:fuck ice. You heard it here first. Probably not first. Fuck
Christian:hope you didn't hear it first. If you, if this is the first time you hear it, you need to change your fucking circle.
Will:It's also crazy, just also just I think this is the most doxed episode we've done. So we'll see how this goes for us. If we're not here next week, you know why? I know you're not gonna be here next week, Christian. So once again, we have socialist football fellows that just about anything. Ski, ski, ski, everywhere. Yes, please. That's exactly what you thought you heard. Next week we, we will go over some FA cup over the weekend. We'll go over leg one for the UCL and then we'll go ahead and get previews for leg two and match day 27 in the Premier League.
Christian:Oh yeah.
Will:Christian,
Christian:Hell yeah.
Will:just in case you wanted to riff out that we are very thankful once again if you're listening, whether you're from Australia, England. Texas, wherever the fuck. We're gonna have a listener next weekend, California. Have fun, Christian. Another docs can't stop. And just like that, it's been another
Christian:pod. I was gonna say that I feel like this is another perfect podcast.
Will:Another one. We're missing one, but we still got it done. Anything else you wanna say to all the listeners, Christian? Fuck ice. We'll, we'll be back next week. fuck ice.
