Both teams, like you mentioned, needed to win and it was definitely a, a very fun last 15 minutes for both of them. Real reason I took last week off. I will talk shit about ne Castle. We've inevitably drawn, um, but three points clear. Um, arsenal are gonna be sitting top of the table with man city yet to play as they had their FA cup, semi-final, semi-final. So, um, game in hand for man city arsenal up currently. Um, if Citi wins, they would go top of the table, um, just based off goal differential and or goal scored.

Especially after a nine minute, uh, goal from a, this was a perfect chance for Arsenal to just really put their foot on the gas and just start. Trying to score goals, which you wouldn't by the statue, you wouldn't expect that to be a thing. Another surprising fact is that, that, uh, they had, they ran that same play, that same corner kit play. They changed their style. They're, no, they were no longer crowding the keeper. They were no longer crowding the box and just like making uncomfortable for the, for the keeper to move. They did a few dummy runs, uh, for Martin or Guard and, uh, uh, Zu and Mendy made a few, uh, that pulled some defenders out the way that led for the cutback for Isaiah to make. A beautiful goal, um, from outside the box and quick, little fun fact, I think as a, uh, since the 22, 23 season, he leads all, all players with the most goals outside the box with 10. they drew that up specifically for EZ as they definitely had a wonderful goal then, and then it just fucking went back to Arsenal. Just playing down to the team. You, you would expect after such an early goal that we would at least dominate, have more shots on goal, have better xg, but no, Newcastle actually had more ex xg than us in this game. They had more shots than us in this game. And it's a, it's a, I know we all clenched when that beautiful pass went over for wea and wea just fucking. For the stars, literally. And it was a beautiful pass and it was definitely on side and it should have been a goal and it should have come back to haunt us. But yeah, arsenal, once again, showing that we just can't get the ball up top. Like we, we can't, we can't get our players into, uh, into dangerous positions and with a less than one xg on this game. It's just, it was very disheartening, especially considering the fact that we need goals. We don't just need to win, we need goals.

I'm just kind like, I think what kind of gets lost when discussing styles of play in teams and like obviously Arsenal. Um, especially over the last two years and like, yeah, they're not getting results at the end of the day. There's been this pushback about just like, oh, okay, well they need to win a certain way. Arsenal was doing that in 2022 when they were playing open and they took teams by surprise, and then you kind of saw them burn out towards the end of the year, and then the following year they were still kind of doing to result. But then you saw like, um, a lot of like late, late result ties or whatnot. And it's tough this year I feel like, because um, for all the, oh, arsenal plays boring and they recycle. And um, Christian you spoke about like it was an indictment on Tick to Tick to is just a style that teams play, right? Um, there's good versions of it and there's bad versions of it. Um, it's not, hey, this is better than all types of play. It really just depends how you deploy. 'cause if a team's flat, they're not making incisive passes and they're not. Trying to create those opportunities. Like you guys say, play a little bit more. Directors talks about long balls or whatnot. You run into trouble, right? You play long balls. You, um, run into where, hey, you're losing match control now you're playing more on your back foot. What you're seeing this year, a lot with Arsenal's team is just, everyone's playing a deep luck. You don't see teams really try to play open with Arsalan. Not to say that Arsenal gets their tactics correct all the time either. I think obviously we saw in the Man city game. They were playing like a little too meek. Um, especially like, uh, the care about Cup, they played more open, but like teams, like leads, when they try to play open with, um, arsenal, like first half of the season as a game that stands out, it was five nothing quick. Um, so it's just kinda like, it's tough because yes, ideally, yeah, I wanna see Arsenal two three oh or whatnot, but with Arsenals kind of, hey, they had UCL considerations and they knew at Letgo was sitting their whole fucking team because they're banking up on it and it's a road game. It's not just necessarily like, Hey, let's score three, four goals against a really well-trained Newcastle team. Sometimes you need to eek out results. It can be frustrating, it's not fun, but no one remembers at the end of the day. Um, unless like, obviously, yeah, I mean, the haters are gonna remember you not winning a trophy. Right. And I feel like over the course of like, and relative to other people, hey, I, I've only been following Arsal for like four or five years. Um. Before it was Arsenal played, like, especially when they had OCO, they played too finesse, they played too small, they played too this, but they don't have a way, they can't really compete in the Premier League 'cause they don't have size. Cool. Cool, cool, cool, cool. Um, they were flying four years ago and you saw them burn out with death. Okay, cool. Um, they seem to be better than everyone, um, the last two seasons with how they score from free kicks, dead plays. And now that's a problem in the Premier League where it's just like, oh well now they just play had on ball and they just. Oh, they play for free kicks, but I'm just kind of just like, at the end of the fucking day, if arson doesn't win, the tr win any trophies. No one's gonna talk about, oh, well they, they or no one's gonna talk about the South Play all, they don't even care about the second. If Arsenal wins, the, wins the Premier League, or wins the Champions League, no one's gonna talk about the beautiful football that fucking man City played, um, against us or anything like that. They're just gonna look at the fucking trophy. So at the end of the day, I don't think. I think their styles of play that teams deploy that work for them, I think their styles of play that we all prefer to watch, but at the end of the day, it's just getting the fucking job done. And when I look at this with Team Kai haves went down with a another knee knock. They're hoping to, again, back in the lead, um, the lead up where I just saw so hit the field in UCL on midweek. It's just, I think they're just trying to figure out how they can win games week to week. Is it always working? No, but I'm also just kind of like. We're sitting fucking tied with man city who's won seven out of nine and like we've been look looking weak on the we up, but best defense in the league, second most goal scored. So, I don't know, man. I just, I get frustrated too, but I'm also not gonna kind of go into like this full like, kind of like ah ass or anything like that.

I think C has the skill to, I think Liverpool played us well a couple times this week, but those games even came down to like more free kicks than anything. But it's just like on a week to week, no team's gonna try to play Arsenal. At their best, even because there's a level of apprehensiveness, all they're trying to do is play a low block, catch us on a turn, um, catch us on a counter and trying to win like that. So yes. Is it frustrating that we're not just playing long ball, not just thing, but no. That match control also leads to teams doing it.

It's literally a good look, but they're not even testing it. They're not even giving it that opportunity.

What All I'll say is just like, once again, in this Newcastle game, and yes, there is moments where, you know, it could have gone the other way. They're playing a specific way because also at the same time, yes, when there's a, there's a, there's a look and whatnot, and Ode Guard hasn't been the same since he came back like a few weeks ago, which is why you see him split, which is like, yes, za has been playing really well now that he's getting consistent run. But it's also just like, I think even we talked about like the wingers that we have currently, trocar's been dealing with the knock. He hasn't looked effective over like the last two months. It felt like AKA has just came back. He's been out for like the last few months. Martinelli and Meke. And I love the dynamism that Meke offers have not been getting at the end of goals that we haven't seen any finishing product. We haven't seen that link up in creation to assist. So it's just like, yes, I totally understand. It could, we can be more incisive. We can definitely do better to create from live play. But even when you look at like the burn myth loss or whatever, we outshot burn myth. We had more of the ball of burn myth. The, not the, the margins are thin not to, to hit the cliche, right. Newcastle is a tough team to play. We scored early and I think, yes, I agree. While 2.0 I would've preferred and we're not just kind of biting our ass and hoping to keep a clean sheet, but last week on the pod you also said, damn, I missed when we had clean sheets, they did their job for a week. I think yes, it's frustrating, but at the same time three points is three points, and there will be opportunities to put the goals up. But at the end of the day too, I think you also have to measure it against just kinda like, yeah, we need to push for goals, but if we, if we, if we drop points, we actually might just be cooked. If we draw in a game, we might be code. If we go 1 0 1 Burnley, I'll shut the fuck up. If we don't put up hell, it goes on Burnley. But I think that's the game for me where the score has to be run up. That's kind of for me, when we were going in and you guys spoke about Burnley, um, was able to hold on one one oh against thing. That's our real opportunity to make move, um, moves within that space outside of Man City, just having a tougher schedule on the runup. So it's just like. I get it and I shared the frustration, but at the same time, if we were trying to force, force the action and try to force something and get caught on the counter late, we also would be probably just talking about how we're still shit. So I'm just kinda like, like, I hear you. I just think at the end of the day it's just like two, balance it out. It was three points we're top of the table. We did our job for now. And yeah, maybe in three weeks it'll be a problem. Um, goal differential we're talking about. But all you can do week by week. Is win your fucking games.
