Hello, hello. This is The Football Fellas. We're gonna do a conjugated episode this week. Unfortunately, we were not able to get the crew together mid-week, so this is why we're gonna record a quick, quick, quick update on what's been going on in the Premier League and abroad. Uh, so once again, we have socials as we pipe every web-- uh, episode. The Football Fellas, we're on BlueSky, Twitter, Instagram, Gmail. Uh, we have a website up, The Football or, uh, https://footballfellas.com. Uh, with that, with that being said, all we're gonna go into is, um, we're a little bit late, matchday thirty-six review. Um, we have a couple matches that have been played, matchday thirty-seven. This is being recorded May seventeenth, twenty twenty-six. Actually, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are currently, um, reaching the end of their game. I'll touch on that at the end of the pod. We also have FA Cup final news that was played yesterday, uh, as well as a matchday thirty-seven preview. We have the Europa League final coming up on Wednesday as well. So touch on that briefly. Wanted to shout out Christian and Jerome. Not in currently, but we'll have a full episode for you middle of the week. That being sa-said, last week, matchday thirty-six, we saw Liverpool and Chelsea come to a one-one draw. This was a big damper on Liverpool's potential UCL qualifications as they ended up tied with a result that I'll get into with Villa, leading into a big match up on Friday. Brighton versus Wolves ended up three-nothing in favor of Brighton. Wolves, Wolves never really showed up in this one. Brighton got a key three points for them there. Fulham versus Bournemouth ended up ten-- as a ten v ten with reds on both sides of the pitch. Bournemouth ends up getting the, the big three points, upping up their chances for European qualification end of the season. Sunderland versus Manchester United is a temp- zero zero draw. Manchester United, though, remains four games unbeaten at this time. Man City versus Brentford. Man City gets the job done against Brentford. There's, uh, one or two potential penalty red card, uh, decisions in this one. However, Man City do their job, win three-oh Jeremy Doku with another huge goal. Marmoush is able to cap it off late. Burnley versus Villa ends up two-two as Burnley, already relegated, h- put a huge pin in Villa's UCL qualifications coming up. Villa ends up two-two, setting up a huge match up with Liverpool on Friday that I'll touch in, in a bit. Both those teams level on fifty-nine points, fighting for UCL qualification. Crystal Palace versus Everton ends up two-two. Everton takes two leads. Crystal Palace is able to fight back on that one, so the points are split Nottingham Forest versus Newcastle United ends up one-one. Elliot Anderson scores an equalizer late in the eighty-eighth minute against his former team. West Ham, or the Best Ham, as Gerald would call them, ends up losing zero to one in what was a very tense affair. Leandro Trossard is able to score the leading goal in the eighty-third minute, and in a decision that everyone was totally normal about, West Ham was able to score a late equalizer off of a corner. However, due to VAR intervention, a foul on Raya was called and the goal disallowed with huge implications on both ends of the table. Arsenal, of course, clinching three points, maintained their whole-- their gap over Manchester City. West Ham, they lose out on a point, leading them further away from Spurs, who also played on Monday. Spurs won one-one, or Spurs tied one-one with Leeds. Matheus Tell, he scored early, giving, uh, Spurs a chance to go three points, three points further out from West Ham and potentially all but clinch their ascend, uh, their stay in the Premier League. However, late in the game, Matheus Tell gives up a penalty to Leeds United. Richarlison, sorry, Calvert-Lewin is able to equalize. Still a huge point for Spurs at this point in the week. However, those three points could have all but clinched West Ham being relegated, um, with two match days left. We did have a match, a make-up game midweek. Manchester City versus Crystal Palace was played. Oliver Glasner in the lead-up, he also is the closeout game against Arsenal to end the season. So Crystal Palace having a chance to play spoilers on both ends of the one and two in the Premier League. However, Oliver Glasner said, pretty much stated, "Hey, we're gonna rotate. We're gonna be looking to be ready for our competitions out," as they're pr-uh, participating the, the UECL, the Conference League. Man City end to end on this one, doing big numbers for their goal differential this week. They get another three-nil win over Crystal Palace, keeping the pressure on Arsenal. Make-up game completed. So at this point, two-point gap between Arsenal and Manchester City heading into the last two match days of the week. Uh, we had a match played, uh, for match day thirty-seven on Friday, Aston Villa versus Liverpool in a game that both teams needed for their European qualifications. Both teams after match day thirty-six sitting on fifty-nine points. Both teams sitting, um, fourth, fourth on the table tied. Uh, Liverpool is up on goal differential. However, Aston Villa were able to eke out a four-two win Um, pretty end-to-end for the most part. Liverpool continuing to face heavy criticism from their fan base. Arne Slot on the hot seat, but it appears that Liverpool are gonna be moving forward with them over the next couple weeks. We had a FA Cup final on Saturday, and Manchester City are able to outpace Chelsea to a one-oh win that was controlled throughout. They secure a domestic double, and they look for a treble as the league winds down with the Premier League season winding down to an end. Pep Guardiola, um, one of the first coaches to come-- to get a domestic double in the English Premier League as his resume as one of the great s- great coaches of all time continues to be built out, and they're looking for one more as we go into the last, what, seven days of the season. That being said, um, as I stated, currently Manchester United versus No-Nottingham Forest is playing. Manchester United was in control of that one, three-one at the time of recording. We'll touch on that a little bit more this week. Um, but we do have additional games being played today, tomorrow, and two games as well on the nineteenth with two huge implications on the league. So outside the Manchester United game, we have Brentford versus Crystal Palace, Everton versus Sunderland, Leeds United versus Brighton, Wolves versus Fulham, Newcastle versus West Ham. West Ham really needing some points as that gap between them and Spurs has been s-- uh, has been busted open a little bit more. Arsenal versus Burnley, huge game will be played tomorrow. That's Monday, May eighteenth. Bournemouth versus Man City, as well as Chelsea versus Spurs. Those both-- those games will both be played Tuesday, May nineteenth. So we're heading into the final stretch of the season. Huge games all around. Manchester City, obviously, for them to keep their title hopes alive, can't afford to drop points. Arsenal can't afford to drop points as the goal differential will get wonky as well. So every game's mattering on that end. On the table currently for European qualifications, Bournemouth has everything to play for. They, uh, have a game in hand between Liverpool and Aston Villa. Liverpool sitting at fifty-nine points. Bournemouth can't catch Villa for that fourth spot, but that key fifth spot for UCL qualification is still up in the air. Bournemouth, if they're able to get a win, will-- we'll see the results going to the last day of the season that could decide things. Brighton as well, sitting at fifty-three points. They're technically mathematically alive. For qualification, it's looking unlikely, but Europa League on the table for them. Europa League on the table for Brentford. Chelsea looking as well. They have a outside chance for Europa League qualification. UECL on the table. So I'll have Jerel bring out the knot theory later in the week, but a lot of permutations going on on that end. As far as the bottom of the table, it's pretty straightforward right now. Spurs right now sitting with a two-point advantage over West Ham, so if they're able to w-get a win and a draw, they're done. They're able-- they're through. If they're able to get With that goal differential, a tie, even a tie and a West Ham loss at this point would also be damning for their hopes. We also have a Europa League final on Wednesday, May 20th. Aston Villa will be playing Freiburg in the lead up to their match day 38. Looking to clinch there. Aston Villa, of course, clinching for UCL qualification as well with their win over Liverpool this week. Outside of that We'll have the full crew together later on this week. Please follow us on socials. Thank you for listening. We'll have locations later in the week. It's been a very exciting season, so we'll be sure to have the full team available for our recording later this week. This has been a shortened version of the Football Fellows podcast. We'll be a little bit more, a little dumber, a little bit more free later in the week. We just wanted to make sure that the cold babies were getting the content that they were looking for. So that being said, thank you again for listening. This has been the Football Fellows and have a great one.
