FROM HOMELESS TO REAL MADRID: ENDRICK’S UNSTOPPABLE RISE
If you think that coming from a poor family automatically makes you a failure in life, then listen to the end as we unpack the inspiring story of Endrick Felipe Moreira De Sousa, popularly known as Endrick, the 18 year old Brazilian soccer star who plays for Real Madrid.
Endrick and his siblings lived in an orphanage at the age of eleven because they were homeless, and mum was jobless. At that time, his dad had left them to pursue a professional career in football.
The poverty and lack of food to eat made Endrick vow to become a professional footballer and help his family. That determination to fight against the odds and turn the family fortune around is what has given birth to the star the world now celebrates.
Hey welcome back to Three Point Nuggets where I discuss the courage to start, the resilience to continue, and the grit to finish your God-given dreams. my name is Bessy Ebule. Please help the channel by following and sharing this episode.
So what can we learn from Endrick’s story?
Number 1- Early Dedication to a goal
Endrick started playing football at the age of four and his dad would publish his goals on Youtube to showcase him to the world. Someone may think, why publish the goals of a four-year-old who has not even gained balance for the world to see? Who would be watching anyway?
Endrick was deeply passionate about football, dedicating countless hours to training and skill development. At the age of eight, he was already training in a Real Madrid camp with his friends, thinking to himself, one day, I am going to play for this club.
He joined the Palmeiras Youth team at the age of 11 where he scored 165 goals in 169 matches. He made his senior professional debut at the age of 16 becoming the youngest player to appear for the Palmeiras first team. He also became the second youngest goalscorer in the history of Brazil's Série A.
It’s never too early to start chasing the dream. Start when you see the opportunity. Start even if you are not perfect and start even if no one believes in you.
You can start the side hustle from your garage if you have one. If you don’t have a garage, start from your dining table with the laptop or phone that you have already, and if you don’t have a dining table, start from the floor of your house or go to the local library or field. When you start, you generate the momentum to keep going.
What else did Endrick do?
He embraced opportunities
When you look at Endrick’s success story, you see the importance of recognizing and embracing opportunities. Joining the youth academy of Palmeiras was a pivotal moment in his career, providing him with a platform to showcase his talents on a larger stage. Instead of shying away from the challenges that came with such a significant step, he embraced them, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
There are opportunities around you no matter where you are. If you have not had the opportunity to be on the big stage yet, use the small stage that you have. You don’t have to be
the head of your department at work to effect change. Manage the team of 5 you already have so well that when the times comes for you to manage 100 or 200, you have the experience.
See every opportunity, no matter how small, as a stepping stone to the big stage. So next time you can volunteer, do it so well as if you were paid.
Finally
Have mentors
Endrick grew up supporting Real Madrid and idolised Cristiano Ronaldo who is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. Any wonder why he is good? A mentors provide invaluable guidance, support, and wisdom based on their own experiences, helping mentees navigate personal and professional challenges.
A mentor offers insights that may not be readily available through formal education, encouraging growth and confidence.
Mentors open doors to new opportunities because they are always pushing you to become a better version of yourself, keeping you accountable and developing you at the same time.
Don’t do life alone. Don’t chase dreams all by yourself. Be humble and willing to learn from others. Look for someone who has travelled your path, who has gone ahead of you and walk in their footpaths. You will go further than you imagined.
