3 POINT NUGGETS EPISODE 13

WHY YOU NEED FAILURE TO SUCCEED.

If you really want to become successful at anything, maybe your career, relationships, or business, what if I told you there’s just one thing you must embrace- that is failure. You heard me right it is failure. I know you don’t like failure so let’s dive into why you should change your mind.

Hey, welcome back to 3 Point Nuggets. My name is Bessy Ebule. Make sure you listen till the end as I share with you three benefits of failure. Let’s dive in.

Number one

1. Failure builds Resilience

One thing failure does for you is to make you resilient and bounce back from setbacks to keep moving forward. Have you seen a child learning to walk? What do you think makes them get up after they fall?

They want to walk as the see everyone else doing but their legs are not strong enough, so when they take the first step and fall, they muster the determination to get up and try again one step at a time and before you know it, they are walking.

Let’s say you try to start a business, or enrol in a class, or start a relationship and it fails. Here’s what you should do, instead of saying I failed, tell yourself, this was a learning experience and it is building my resilience. Remember J.K Rowling and the Harry Porter series? Instead of giving up after 12 rejections, she kept going and became the world’s first billion-dollar author. Always remember, you may be one call, performance, or proposal away from success.

Number 2

2. Failure Teaches Valuable Lessons

Failure is a teacher. Every setback provides an opportunity for learning, offering insights into what went wrong, why it went wrong, and how it can be improved.

For instance, if you launch a start-up and fail, you are likely to learn about market needs, customer behavior, and operational inefficiencies in a way that no business school could ever teach. These real-world lessons make you better equipped to tackle your next venture. Each failure provides data—whether it’s a poorly received product, misaligned marketing strategy, or underfunded budget—and that data is invaluable for recalibration.

Don’t let the fear of failure prevent you from trying again. If you are a musician and you sing off key, next time, you’ll know how to control your notes. If you spend money recklessly and get into debt, next time, you’ll learn to manage and budget properly. If your car breaks down because you ignored the funny sounds you heard from the engine, next time, you’ll learn to pay more attention to the car.

3. Failure Builds Innovation and Creativity

Some of the greatest innovations in history were born out of failure. When things don’t go as planned, you’re forced to think outside the box and explore alternative solutions that you might not have considered otherwise.

For example, Steve Jobs faced one of his biggest professional failures when he was ousted from Apple, the company he co-founded. This major setback, however, led to a period of personal and professional growth. He went on to found NeXT and Pixar, two ventures that significantly influenced technology and animation industries. When he eventually returned to Apple, he brought with him a renewed vision that helped transform the company into one of the most successful in the world. Without that initial failure, it’s unlikely that Jobs would have developed the perspective and creative approach that made him the icon he is today.

If your business is not growing, try alternative approaches. Maybe start offering delivery if your customers are finding it hard to come to you. If you are spending too much on a rented office space, consider taking your business mostly online if possible, and if you are always waking up late, consider setting an alarm and make sure you don’t press snooze when it rings.

So, instead of fearing failure, use it to your benefit and become a better person.
