The Fool's Journey with Deanna Amodeo

Emily Gustafson Episode 6

Deanna Amodeo left behind a traditional lifestyle in New Jersey to embrace the unknown. In her early twenties, she embarked on a seven-year journey of continuous travel, immersing herself in diverse cultures, forging connections with people from all walks of life, and gaining a deeper understanding of the human experience. Her adventures led her to write her first book, When You Stand Up to the Sun, which chronicles the lessons, stories, and transformations that unfolded along the way.

Now, Deanna finds herself on a deeply personal journey—one that brings her to the mysterious island of Sicily. Driven by a desire to reconnect with her Sicilian roots. She is uncovering her personal family history and diving into the rhythms of tradition—one of which is learning the ancient folk dance, the Tarantella. As she pieces together the untold stories of her ancestors, she is also weaving them into her second book, a narrative that bridges the past with the present, set against the backdrop of Sicily’s rich and storied landscape.

With a passion for storytelling and human connection, Deanna continues to explore not just the world, but the depths of identity, heritage, and the stories that shape us all. She is passionate about many other areas of life including cooking, herbalism, astrology and encouraging others to embrace the serendipities of their personal journeys.
