The Republic's National Day of Repentance by Dr. Zane Lawhorn, host.

 Thank you for visiting America Turns Back.  I’m your host;  Dr Zane Lawhorn.  

This 3 Day Event is for Christians to join together to re-dedicate our dependence on God Almighty.  Today’s focus is on the great importance that April 30th holds for our country.  

April 30th is a special date in the history of America.  Way back 236 years ago, on this day in 1789, the Founding Father of our country, newly elected President George Washington, dedicated the United States of America to God.  Years later, on April 30, 1863 President Abraham Lincoln would proclaim the same.

And now, on April 30th 2025, America re-dedicates itself to God by turning back to God.  God's People all across America will gather together in one accord to pray for the repentance of America.  

The Holy Scripture of 2nd Chronicles 7:14 saved the united States of America on that day in 1863, 

the nation was at war......with itself!  The Civil War was a dark time in our history, the country torn apart, yet the Union prevailed.  Unfortunately, the Republic did not.  Suspended and set aside to be dormant for 160+ years, now the time has come to resurrect our God-given Republic.

The blueprint for restoration is 2nd Chronicles 7:14.  Within days of President Lincoln's proclamation, major events changed the course of the Civil War.  

First the South would lose General Lee’s top general, Stonewall Jackson.  Then the state of West Virginia left Virginia and joined the Union, within a month the South would lose both Gettysburg in the North and at Vicksburg in the South effectively ending any chance of victory and permanent division.  

Our Union was saved through the power of prayer and repentance.

Today, we seek the same deliverance from our merciful God.

April 30, 1863 was declared a National Day of Humiliation, Fasting & Prayer by Abraham Lincoln.  Believers were called upon to use the blueprint of restoration found in 2nd Chronicles 7:14 for the healing of a divided nation.  We need that again today.  Within days of Lincoln's proclamation major events began that changed the course of the war.  

Within two months the battles of Vicksburg and Gettysburg had divided the confederacy making defeat inevitable.  

Today we need to humble ourselves in prayer and fasting.  Petitioning God Almighty to hear us, forgive us and heal our land.  

Today I will Read Lincoln's Proclamation.  

And pray for national repentance and restoration.  We blow the Shofar to remind us God founded this nation and saved America once before and He will do it again. 

IF His people act upon 2nd Chronicles 7:14, the urgency of our day is as great if not greater than in 1863.  

Following is the text of Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Proclamation for a Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer.
 

The proclamation was issued on March 30, 1863 and declared April 30, 1863 as the National Day of Fasting.
