In this deeply personal episode of Rise in Mourning, I read journal entries I wrote in the days and weeks after losing my son, Alek.

I only share a few — but they reveal my raw state of mind, the confusion, the heartbreak, and the desperate searching for God in the middle of unbearable grief.

Then we turn to the Book of Job — one of the Bible’s most powerful examples of suffering, faith, and spiritual endurance. I reflect on how my faith has matured since those early journal entries and how even then, in my deepest pain, I was still reaching for God.

If you are grieving, wrestling with God, questioning your faith, or trying to understand suffering through a biblical lens — I pray this episode makes you feel less alone.

Even in mourning, we rise.
