Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Skip Monning.

Speaker 2:

Well, hello and welcome everyone to the Good Neighbor Podcast. We have a very special guest with us here today and I think you'll be as excited as I am to learn more about them and their business. So it is my pleasure of introducing your neighbor, ms Anne-Marie Byers of Holographic Health. Anne-marie, welcome to the show.

Speaker 3:

Thank you for having me.

Speaker 2:

I hope you're having a good day.

Speaker 3:

I certainly am and I hope you are.

Speaker 2:

Yes, ma'am, I sure am. Thank you so much. We are very excited. I'm sure our listeners are as excited as I am to learn all about you and your company, especially with the name Holographic Health. That's, that's intriguing, so I'm really interested to hear more about it. So, if you don't mind, why don't you tell us a little bit about your company?

Speaker 3:

Well, holographic Health Incorporated was founded in 1997 by Dr Theodore Beruti in Waynesville, north Carolina. He was an acupuncturist, chiropractor, naturopath, weightlifter. He learned all he could to help people get out of pain and balance the body. He met his wife in Kingsport and actually put a training center here, and so we're currently certified by the National Massage Board to provide continuing education credits for massage therapists. We teach classes in our general techniques to chiropractors, massage therapists and people who just want to learn what we do, who have a desire to learn, and we have our own line of synergistic nutritional supplements that Dr Baruti specified and developed, and we moved the business here in 2016. 2016.

Speaker 3:

And he, when he passed away in 2020, he wanted my family and myself to buy the business and take care of it. So now we also do private consultations and our holographic health assessments, which look at all aspects of the body, the mind, the spirit. We do hypnotherapy and energy healing techniques for people who want to utilize natural methods to heal naturally and use a faith-based approach to healing. So we honor the body, the mind, the spirit to help people to heal, and so we don't advocate that people throw out traditional medicine. We advocate they use what works for them and then works for the individual, and we use a God-centered faith approach based on our aspects of healing.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, very interesting and very good. How did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

Well, I spent many years in corporate America and took early retirement. I always wanted to do something to help people. I was always interested in health and nutrition. To do something to help people. I was always interested in health and nutrition and after I retired, my mother passed away.

Speaker 3:

I developed, had a cancer diagnosis, and I was in all kinds of pain from the surgeries from a tongue surgery, from a radical neck dissection, had a lot of scar tissue, and I met Dr Baruti and utilized holographic help techniques to heal. And so I learned the power of the techniques he had developed, the supplements that he had developed, and so I learned all I could about that, spent about 12 years with him, the last few years of his life, learning everything about the business, helping him manage it, helping him move it to Kingsport, and so I learned how much the body and the mind and the spirit can work together to heal with the right nutrition, with the right foods. So I became really passionate about helping people to do that. And so when he said he wanted us to buy the business and take care of it and after he passed away his wife was of the same belief that we should take over and make sure that it continues, and so that's what we're doing.

Speaker 2:

Very good. Well, what are some? This is a very interesting industry, but what are some myths or misconceptions in what you do?

Speaker 3:

Well, some people don't recognize the power of the mind and face to heal and so they just look at the physical or just look at traditional medicine. We believe in looking at all of that, to look at a person's face, to look at the mind and the body and what are the best ways to heal. And I'm an ordained reverend and a medicine woman with a Christian-based organization called the Menhal Native American Church, so I utilize those techniques I've learned from them as well within holographic health to help people to view this all the ways that you can heal. And so, looking at it from both the faith, the natural healing techniques utilizing traditional medicine, and then food and supplements trying to eat organic food and good alkalizing the body.

Speaker 3:

Supplements are a big part of our business and we use good manufacturing practices in the supplements that we have developed for us. People don't understand that the FDA does not approve supplements. They make sure that the safety and efficacy of the supplements are created with good manufacturing practices. So we utilize labs that use those good manufacturing practices that are also energetically balanced with what we call our biokinetic formulas that actually help to alkalize the body and help the body to heal that way. So we utilize space.

Speaker 3:

We use food, we use supplements to balance the body. Every way that we have learned helped the body to reduce stress, including hypnotherapy to reduce actual stress and all of our supplements are made in the usa with unique us ingredients. So there are only a few things that we would get from outside the US if they were superior. Like aloe that's grown in Africa is much superior to something grown in you know a soil here, so it's the right kind of soil to produce that supplement. So those are things that people really don't understand that supplements aren't actually approved by the FDA. They're controlled as food.

Speaker 2:

Gotcha, gotcha. Well, and I assume the supplements are all organic and as natural as can be.

Speaker 3:

We don't have them certified organic because of the cost, but we do have as close to organic as possible. We have them tested to make sure there are no contaminants, no GMOs, so they're certified non-GMO vegan In most cases. We have some that are vegetarian and of course we do have a fish oil that some people want that's not vegan or vegetarian. But we use veggie caps and we have all the testing done to verify there are no contaminants. So they're as close to organic as we can get them without having the certification for cost that's.

Speaker 2:

That's good enough, that's good enough, that's good enough. So, outside of work, ms Byers, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Well spending time with family and good friends. My husband, my children, my granddaughter have a little seven-year-old granddaughter that really knows how to have fun, and so we enjoy playing music, playing the piano, and you know, when you have a seven year old around, it's hard not to have fun and enjoy spending time with family. So that's what we do for fun.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, Absolutely. They'll keep you young too.

Speaker 3:

Exactly, they certainly do.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so let's switch gears for a second. Can you describe a hardship or a life challenge that you've overcome and how it made you stronger?

Speaker 3:

Well, I would say that you know, having a life-threatening illness, becoming disabled, really makes you stop and think. Your priorities change. You think about balancing your life and spending time on what is really important Family and the important things in life. There is, when there are things you can't do anymore. Finding ways to do things that you know. When you can't do things the way you used to, finding new ways to do those. I've always had a solid faith to finding new ways to do those. I've always had a solid faith, utilizing my faith to make sure that I kept focused on that, that I had to trust other people to help me do things that I couldn't do anymore or couldn't do the same way, and so utilizing that to help others along the way. What I have learned to help them makes me feel like it was worthwhile what I had to go through to get to where I am today.

Speaker 2:

Wow, wow. Well, we appreciate what you're doing and coming out of that helping other people that's fantastic, so thank you for that. If you could think of one thing that you would like our listeners to remember about Holistic Health Inc. What would that be?
