This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Skip Monty.
Speaker 2:Hello everyone and welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast of the Tri-Cities. So I'm really excited today to have a special guest with us, and I'm sure you'll be just as excited if you love water which, if you don't, you should. But today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, mr Dan Toth, who is the owner-operator of Mountain View Pure Water. Dan welcome to the show.
Speaker 3:Thanks, skip, glad to be here. Thrilled to have you.
Speaker 2:Like I said, I try my best to drink as much water as I can, and especially good, clean, pure water. So I'm pretty excited to hear all about you. So, if you don't mind, why don't you kick us off by telling us about your business?
Speaker 3:Well, Mountain View Pure Water is about eight and a half years old. We have water purification and air purification and filtration systems. We're essentially a health and wellness business because we want to help people remove toxins and contaminants from their water and their home environment.
Speaker 2:Very good, and I imagine that just is more important every day with all the. You know there's toxins and and all kinds of crap in the in our drinking water already.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's already bad, but I think that, uh, as as new information comes out about uh different chemicals that are in the water and microplastics, people are more aware of how much water treatment is needed. So my father was a water treatment technician when I was a child, and you know, I went to college and I worked several jobs. I even owned a couple of small businesses, but eventually I decided that I wanted to just help people, and water treatment allowed me to do that. Wow, so kind of a family affair.
Speaker 2:Your dad was into water treatment as well.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's funny. He took me to work with him several times, but I never really enjoyed doing what he did, and it wasn't until I was out of college and had done several different jobs that I realized that that's something that appealed to me.
Speaker 2:Very good, very good. Well, what are some myths or misconceptions in the clean water business?
Speaker 3:All right.
Speaker 3:Well, as with any business, you're in business to make some money, but in the way we're helping people, one of the misconceptions is that water treatment is expensive, and the reason that's a misconception is not that it doesn't cost anything to get water treatment, but the alternative is that you're already spending money because of the poor quality water coming into your house.
Speaker 3:It can cost you extra money to replace plumbing appliances, small kitchen appliances and larger appliances like your dishwasher, water heater, washing machine. But then also there's the excess soaps and cleaning products that you have to buy Harsh cleaning products that have chemicals in them that you don't really want to introduce into your family's home environment, and then extra soap products. You know Johnson, johnson and others will sell you as much as you want, but when your water quality is poor, you need an excessive amount. So, besides, that bottled water costs money, and when you know that you can't drink that water that's coming out of the spigot because you can't get it past your nose or it tastes so bad, that's an extra expense. So really it's a changing of how you spend your money. You're investing in water treatment equipment up front in order to not spend as much money thereafter. It saves money for all your daily chores with soaps and cleaning products and also makes things last longer soaps and cleaning products and also makes things last longer, including your clothing and your appliances.
Speaker 2:Interesting. Well, so do you? On the, on the filtration systems, do you you install those like per individual, like kitchen, bathroom, or is it something that you do for the entire household in the basement, or how's that work?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so typically there's two different types of water treatment equipment One that filters all the water in the house, so that gets hooked up to the main line, so as soon as the water comes into the home there's filtration, and that improves the quality of the water through every tap in the house. And then we have a separate system reverse osmosis which is able to remove a vast amount of contaminants from the water, giving you a purified water for drinking and cooking.
Speaker 2:Oh wow. So is one preferable over the other, or one more expensive, maybe?
Speaker 3:Well, the expense does differ. The larger system for the house is typically higher cost. The larger system for the house is typically higher cost. But the drinking water system is also vital because that's the water that you're using for life, that's the water that you want to put into your body, so you want to make sure that it's even cleaner and of higher quality.
Speaker 2:Gotcha Absolutely Well. We know marketing is key to any business success. Dan how do you market Mountain View, pure Water?
Speaker 3:great people who are already fans, my own customers and then people who I've met out in the community. I really have a great business of referral. That happens, in fact, at this time in my company. Most of my new business comes from referrals.
Speaker 2:So that really pleases me. Wow. Well, that says a lot about your customer service and satisfaction. I would think Absolutely Well outside of work. Dan, what do you like to do for?
Speaker 3:fun, just enjoy spending time with my family. I have four children and my wife, and then we also spend a lot of time with our church community.
Speaker 2:Very nice, very nice, especially if your wife watches the podcast. Time with family is the right answer. It's the right answer no matter what, but anyway, and church too, absolutely. So let's change gears for a second, dan. Could you describe a hardship or a life challenge you've experienced, either professionally or personally, that when you came out the other side, you were better off and stronger because of it?
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah, as a child I was hyperactive and I developed a reputation for being maybe unruly or just having too much energy. And funny thing is is that reputation preceded me as I went through elementary school and it made it hard for me to get fair treatment, fear treatment. That was something that I wanted to change, and as I went into high school and college, I became a Christian and my behavior changed On that issue. You know, my reputation began to change and also that has it precedes to go before me, and so to this day, my reputation is a is a very big reason why I'm trusted and people let me into their house and and they they believe me when I tell them something. Proverbs 22 1 says a good name is to be more desired than great wealth. Favor is better than silver and gold, and I definitely believe that's true.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. Couldn't agree more. Awesome. Well, dan, if you could think of one thing you would like our listeners to remember about Mountain View Pure Water. What would that be?
Speaker 3:We're really here to help. You know, I tell people that I have one of the best jobs imaginable. I get to help people fix a problem that they realize they have. I get to help them live a healthier life and also to save money, because the assistance that I provide have a long lifespan and you exceed your return on investment with these products.
Speaker 2:Very good thing to remember. And for those of us who are interested in investigating, learning more, how can we do that?
Speaker 3:investigating, learning more. How can we do that? Well, we do have a website, and that's just for people who are curious. If someone knows that they want to change their water quality or at least get all the information, they would best things to schedule an appointment. Call me up, use our, use our website contact form and schedule an appointment for an in-home consultation. There's no obligation. We don't pressure anyone into buying anything, and that's kind of the way that we work.
Speaker 2:Very good. And what's the web of that web address?
Speaker 3:It's going to be mvpwaternet mvpwaternet yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah that's it. Awesome, all right, very good. Well, dan, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us and to tell our listeners all about Mountain View and moving forward. We wish you and your family and your business all the best.
