EP# 258: Your Second Brain: How Bridal Party Packet Transforms Wedding Stress with Byrgundy White

Skip Mauney & Byrgundy White Episode 258

What makes Byrgundy White with Bridal Party Packet a good neighbor?

Weddings should be joyful celebrations, not stress-inducing nightmares. That's the foundation of Byrgundy White's mission at Bridal Party Packet, where she has dedicated herself to being every couple's "second brain" on their wedding day.

Born from personal disappointment when her own wedding coordinator failed to deliver, Byrgundy transformed that negative experience into a calling. "I vowed myself that day that everybody will always have a phenomenal time on their wedding day," she shares with compelling sincerity. Her approach combines meticulous planning with genuine emotional investment – she affectionately calls her clients her "babies," reflecting the care she puts into each celebration.

The conversation takes a powerful turn when Byrgundy opens up about navigating professional responsibilities during profound personal tragedies. From losing her grandfather just days before a wedding to experiencing a miscarriage mid-week before another event, she reveals how faith, family support, and honest client communication allowed her to fulfill her commitments while honoring her own healing process. These raw moments showcase the human behind the business and highlight how wedding professionals often go above and beyond contractual obligations.

Beyond dispelling common misconceptions about wedding coordinators ("It's not my special day," she emphasizes), Byrgundy offers practical wisdom for couples at any stage of planning. Whether you're newly engaged or wedding day is approaching, her insights about customizing services to match your stress tolerance and vision will resonate. Check out Bridal Party Packet through their website, social media, or reviews on The Knot to discover how they might transform your wedding experience. Your perfect day deserves someone who treats it with the same care they would their own.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Skip Monty.

Speaker 2:

Well, hello everyone and welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. So today I am super excited to have a very special guest with us in the studio, and I'm sure you'll be just as excited because today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Miss Burgundy White, who is the owner operator of Bridal Party Packet. Yes, Burgundy welcome to the show.

Speaker 3:

Thank you so much. Thank you so much for having me and hello everyone.

Speaker 2:

Well, we are thrilled to have you. Like I said, I think everybody's going to be just as excited as I am to learn all about you and Bridal Party Packet. So if you don't mind, why don't you kick us off by telling us what you do?

Speaker 3:

Well, hello everyone Again. My name is Brittany White, I am the proud owner and founder of Bridal Party Packet and we are an ultimate wedding party package. So we do all things day of coordinating and we dabble into helping you out with your day of coordinating when it comes to decorating. So we are all about being your second brain on your wedding day.

Speaker 2:

Being your second brain, which I think on your wedding day. You need a second brain. You do.

Speaker 3:

You don't want to be stressed out. It can be very, very stressful on your wedding day and you don't have to think about anything. So that's why you come to us and we make sure, from the time that we start all of your coordinating whether it's two months in advance, a month in advance we make sure that we are there on the day of and we literally know you like the back of our hand. Or if you're just like our child, I'll call all of my brides and grooms they're my babies.

Speaker 2:

That's funny. That's funny. Well, Burgundy, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

So it's actually kind of a sad but funny story. I got into this industry because my husband and I got married in 2022. And unfortunately, our coordinator was not what it was all meant out to be and was promised a lot of things, and those things didn't happen and we didn't let that deteriorate us from having a fun and amazing time with all of our friends and family. But it definitely showed me that this is the route that I want to go into and go into these endeavors and make sure that no bride or groom ever has to endure what we had to endure on our wedding day.

Speaker 3:

So I vowed myself to that day that everybody will always have a phenomenal time on their wedding day. So that's how I got into this industry and ever since then I've loved every single one of my brides and grooms and treated them as if they are my own.

Speaker 2:

Your babies.

Speaker 3:

Yes, they are. They are my babies, and I know I'm about to go. I'm on maternity leave and it's been so hard. Thank goodness I have a phenomenal team backing behind me, but it's so hard to give it away because you work so tirelessly and so much time and putting all that effort into creating their special day, and then you don't get to be there. So I've been like texting them and seeing how are they feeling, how are they doing so.

Speaker 3:

I'm so part of it just to be able to give them that support that they need on their wedding day.

Speaker 2:

Very good, very good. Well, what are some myths or misconceptions in the wedding planning party packet business?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So being a coordinator, a lot of people feel like you may not need one and some people feel like it can be that there's too much of a coordinator and you are not allowed to make that your own day. So on the one end, again, a lot of people feel like they don't need a coordinator. And, honestly, if you want to have a coordinator, sure. If you don't, it is up to you because at the end of the day it's your wedding. So if you feel that you can coordinate all of the back and forth with the vendors or the timeline and giving that opportunity and that perspective to someone on that day, that is totally fine. But on the opposite end, a lot of people get scared because they feel that a coordinator may not be beneficial or helpful, because they may take over their wedding day.

Speaker 3:

I've heard a lot out there where they're like well, they didn't allow my sister during their wedding to do X, y and Z and I'm like, at the end of the day, you're hiring me to be your second brain, you're hiring me to coordinate your special day. It's not my special day. Me and my husband we didn't already have that Been there, done that, so we're here to help you. So those are some miscontribute. You know things that could go wrong during wedding planning and it goes from wedding planning to coordinating to month of and it just depends on what you prefer. So I always say weigh out your options. Do you want a full planner, do you want a coordinator? Do you want a month up or do you want to do it yourself? It is all based on what your stress level is like based on what your stress level is like.

Speaker 2:

Very cool. Well, burgundy, who are your target customers? Obviously people that are getting married, but is there a certain demographic? Or? And how do you, how do you reach those folks?

Speaker 3:

So we actually don't have a certain demographic. We love everybody and make them feel welcome, whether they are out of towners from the state of Florida. We've worked with people from Florida, North Carolina. We, of course, are in the East Tennessee area, located in the Clinton Knoxville area. However, we travel within our packages up to two hours prior to you having a travel fee. With that being said, we allow you to come from wherever you want to. If you want to hire us and you want to pay for that travel fee, because you see all of our reviews, which are all on the not, you can head over to the not see what our you know our brides are all about. Go on our social media sites, ask them. We want you to be able to hear what they have to say. But, all in all our demographic areas, areas if you're getting married, we are here for you awesome, awesome to know.

Speaker 2:

So outside of work, burgundy, what do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3:

outside of work. I truly enjoy being in the pageant industry. I have my own business in the pageant industry, which is in the media um aspect of everything. We just recently moved over to production, so I emcee a lot. I was formerly a coach and just recently gave that up because I am expecting our first child.

Speaker 3:

So I decided to take a little bit of a step back, but I'm still very heavily involved to help my mother with her organization, miss Universe Alms pageant organization. So I am all things pageantry. And when I'm not in pageantry I'm golfing with my husband on the weekend, or when he's getting off of work, or we are going off to pickleball. So those are some things that I truly enjoy. But now that we're going to be having a new little one here in July, I think we'll be doing a lot more mommy and daddy time.

Speaker 2:

Well, congratulations, by the way.

Speaker 3:

Thank you.

Speaker 2:

I just got back from visiting my first grandchild. Who's? In thank you he was born actually in December and so he's about six months now, but lives in, as our son lives in Washington DC, so that was pretty cool to get to go see them and yeah, yeah, they were big pickleball people too, and now, yeah, yeah, they're having to take a break for a little while.

Speaker 2:

I understand that Absolutely, but it'll come back. It'll come back. Yeah Well, let's switch gears for a second. Uh, burgundy, can you describe a hardship or a life challenge that you've overcome, either professionally or personally, and how it made you stronger coming out the other side?

Speaker 3:

I actually have two stories that recently happened, one in 2023 and one in 2024. So I'll fast back. I will rewind back to 2023 and it is on a personal level, but also it is on a professional level. You know, I just started my wedding business in 2022 and in 2023, unfortunately, I lost my grandfather and that was the first person that I truly lost.

Speaker 3:

That was super close to me. I was very close to my grandfather and my papa when he passed. He passed on a Thursday and I had a wedding that was on a Saturday. They had rehearsals and that was really hard because I at the time, I didn't have anyone to call upon to take over coordinating his. Again, they're my babies and I had to learn that leave it in God's hand. Leave it in God's hand, but also take guidance from your family as well. And so, after having deep talk with my family, but also trusting my bride and groom a lot of people don't hear that in the wedding industry, but not only them leaning on you, you lean on them. So if something tragic happens and tragedy strikes, lean on your bride and groom and ask them those questions that will benefit them in the long run as well.

Speaker 3:

And through that first tragedy I learned oh goodness, okay, I have to do a rehearsal on Friday. My grandfather just passed away today, which was a Thursday. What do I do? So I contacted my bride and groom and told them what was going on and ultimately they said you don't have to come to rehearsals. I said, well, if you can take care of rehearsals, I can take care of your wedding day.

Speaker 3:

And we came to that agreement and they were so sweet and just honorable of making sure that I was okay that they told their whole entire wedding what had happened. And through that struggle I learned that things happen and you just have to persevere and you have to find a common ground, not only with your client, but with who you are as an individual, and put your faith in God because he's going to lead you in the right direction. There's a reason why I'm into this industry and you know, moving forward into the 2024 season, unfortunately, around May of last year I did have a miscarriage with my husband. We had a miscarriage and it was very sad, it was very hard and unfortunately that happened on a Wednesday and, of course, on a Saturday.

Speaker 3:

I had a wedding and again it went back. I feel like if I wouldn't have had the 2023 tragedy that happened, because a miscarriage is a death if I would have not had that portion happen in 2023, I feel God set me up and told me this is what you need to do. I talked to my bride, I talked to my family members and they were ultimately able to help me out during that wedding weekend. So, yes, I still went on Friday and still worked. Rehearsals went on Saturday and I still planned and had an amazing wedding. That happened, but ultimately, because of God and my family coming out and helping my husband helping as well, being able to get me through that day, it honestly was amazing.

Speaker 3:

And you know, again, life happens, things happen, but in this industry, a wedding is still happening and you have to figure out do you need to hire someone or you can have to just stick it out and go through it? Those are things you have to think about and at that time and moment, I was struck with tragedy on both occasions and I had to rise to the occasion because I had two individuals that were counting on me, but also I had family that was counting on me because we had tragedy and just being open-minded really helped me.

Speaker 2:

Give it to God.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's all they say. Give it to God. He has a reason for us to be in these different industries and he has a path for us to go on. And that's something that I was like. You put me here for a reason and those weddings turned out amazing, yeah there you go, there you go. And now I've been able to heal from my grandfather, I've been able to heal from our child that we lost, and again we're having another one. So you know, there's a time and a place for everything.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. Well, burgundy, if you could think of one thing you would like our listeners to remember about bright old party packet, what would that be?

Speaker 3:

that would be that we are literally your second brain on your wedding day. I know I keep advocating for that, but that is what we are here for. We want your wedding to be as special as possible. So if that means that we have to go outside your contract and start messaging you just a couple of days earlier, we will do that. If that means that instead of having one meeting that is within your contract time, we will have as many meetings as we feel that you need, or if you need to feel comfortable, we will make sure that it happens. So again, our main goal is to be your second brain on your wedding day with Bridal Party Packet.

Speaker 2:

Very good. And if we have anybody that's just got proposed to or they're planning to get married or just thinking about it, how can they learn more?

Speaker 3:

Yes, the way that they can learn more is they can head over to our website, which is wwwbridalpartypacketsquaresite, or you can head over to our social media sites. We have Bridal Party Packet, which is our Facebook and our Instagram, but also you can find us on, or not? We have amazing ratings on there. You'll be able to really hear from bride and grooms. I love being able for all of our future brides and grooms to be able to read and see the experience that we leave with these. You know these couples and so if you head over to the Knot and then put in Bridal Party Packet, you'll be able to see all of the ratings You'll be able to see. You know what we offer and, again, we can customize any of our packages, so it doesn't have to be just what's on there. We customize it to fit your needs.

Speaker 2:

Very good, very good, all right. Well, burgundy, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule, especially, you know, with you expecting Congratulations again. Absolutely, but appreciate you spending time with us and telling us all about what you do and bridal party packet and how. What makes you different. So, moving forward, we wish you and and your new addition and your husband, your family and your business all the best.
