What Is Love According To God

Romans 5:8 And Ultimate Love

SPEAKER_00

Hi friends, welcome to Moments of Worship. I'm Keith McMahon, worship pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virginia. This podcast seeks to encourage you in the worship of God each weekday. I'm so thankful that you have joined us today. Valentine's Day was always a great day for me growing up in elementary school. It may seem odd to say that, but I liked it. Maybe it was because of the candied hearts that would say be mine on them. I think I liked the candy more than I did the saying. I also love the folded note cards that you would get that would have a nice design and you would put it in the envelopes of your classmates all down in a row. Some would say I love you, would you be my Valentine? What is love really? How does God define and express His love to us? Well today we're going to look at the love of God. Paul says in Romans five eight, but God shows his love for us and that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Friends, this is ultimate love, and that God sacrificed his son for his bride. The love of God is a precious gift from God and His Son Jesus Christ. We experience love with one another horizontally, but nothing compares to God's love vertically by the Word coming to dwell and redeem mankind from sin.

Nothing Separates Us From God’s Love

Reflecting God’s Love And Closing

I Packer states it like this God's love is an exercise of His goodness toward individual sinners whereby having identified Himself with their welfare, He has given His Son to be their Savior and now brings them to know and enjoy Him in a covenant relation. Friend, do you know this love from God? I pray earnestly that you do. Receive today the goodness of Jesus Christ in the gospel. Friend, we deserve death, but Almighty God, the one we have been studying these last few days, grants us eternal life through his Son Jesus Christ. We read in John three sixteen, for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. You know, unlike our love that can be fickle, God's love is steadfast. Isaiah fifty four ten says, For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord who has compassion on you. And we read in Romans eight thirty eight through thirty nine that we cannot be separated from God's love. The Scripture says for I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Praise be to God for that glorious truth. We are to be a reflection of God's love for each other. And first John four, seven through eight states Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, but God because God is love. May we be a people who live in humble gratitude for God's love in Christ and also show this gracious love to all we meet. Well, Fred, thank you so much for joining me on moments of worship. Pray that you are very encouraged as we have talked about the love of God in Jesus Christ. Hit the like or subscribe button and write a review if you feel so compelled to share it with somebody that you know could use a word of encouragement this day. Friends, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday for the glory of God.
