Hi friends, welcome to Moments of Worship. I'm Keith McMahon, worship pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virginia. This podcast seeks to encourage you in the worship of God each weekday. I'm so thankful that you are listening. You can find us on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, Deezer, anywhere that you might find podcasts, you can listen and subscribe. Well today on this labor day, we're going to be looking at the holiness of God. Think for a moment the most beautiful thing that you have ever seen. Maybe it's a diamond that just seems perfect with no visible flaws, or maybe if you love to go to the ocean, in the Caribbean, it's the Caribbean clear blue water. Or maybe if you live up north, it's the freshly fallen snow over your front yard. That is a beautiful sight. Some of you, not me, may be early risers and see the beautiful sunrise. Well God's creation is magnificent. Now let's think just for a moment about who God is, the Creator. God is pure and set apart so much that we cannot even begin to fully conceive of His holiness. The late theologian R. C. Sproul states The idea of holiness is so central to biblical teaching that it is said of God holy is his name. God is perfect in all of his ways, sinless, blameless, and without blemish. We read an old testament scripture out of Isaiah six three, and one called to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. Friend, God is holy. The theologian Wayne Grudum speaks of God's holiness in this way God's holiness means that he is separated from sin and devoted to seeking his own honor. We read in Exodus fifteen eleven, Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you? Majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders. In first Samuel two, two, there is no one holy like the Lord. There is no one besides you. There is no rock like our God. We read in first Peter, Peter's exhortation to us to pursue holiness. This is one of God's communicable attributes. We of course will never be perfect like God, but we are called to pursue a life of purity as we grow in our sanctification. First Peter one fifteen through sixteen states, But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written, Be holy because I am holy. As you go throughout your day on this labor day in September, think about what you're giving your attention to. We read in Revelation four eight, each of the four limit creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stopped saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Amen. Well, thank you so much, friend, for joining me today on moments of worship. Pray that you've been encouraged as we've thought just briefly about God's holiness. If you've been encouraged by today's episode, please like, subscribe, maybe write a review, spread the word so that God's glory may be declared through this ministry all over the earth. I would love to hear from you. Shoot me an email at doxology at bbcorktown.org. Thanks for listening.
