The Christian life has a rhythm to it. There are days when we are tired, busy, distracted, or simply do not feel like reading Scripture or praying. In those moments we may wonder if pursuing God out of duty still matters. The answer is yes.

Psalm 1 calls us to meditate on God’s Word day and night. Just as a tree planted by streams of water continually receives what it needs to live and grow, believers need the continual nourishment of God’s truth. Faithful daily rhythms of Scripture, prayer, worship, and biblical teaching sustain us and strengthen us spiritually. Without them, our spiritual lives can become dry and weak.

Whether you are studying for ministry, preparing to teach, singing Scripture-rich songs, listening to biblical teaching, or engaging with truth in everyday life, the goal is the same: fill your life with God’s Word so that you are transformed into the image of Christ, grow in delight for Him, and bear fruit for His kingdom.

Duty in pursuing God often leads to delight in God.
